- bixby1, on 08/25/2008, -7/+53Such an amazing sport. Glad the Olympics is finally recognizing it.
- WordsnCollision, on 08/25/2008, -1/+18Loved the BMX races!
- inactive, on 12/07/2008, -2/+15Just glad they haven't included rollerblading...BMX is legit!
- diggit08, on 08/25/2008, -1/+13poor British biker, going for a silver and takes a fall on a turn. It must suck to mess up in the olympics to know that you have spent the better part of your life training for something and to mess it up.
- IvanB, on 08/25/2008, -0/+9I love watching it when they all sail through the air at the same time. It's really a very easy-to-watch sport.
- StevieJanowski, on 04/02/2009, -2/+10Its really interesting how sports like this (really exciting to watch) make it into the olympics but old sports like baseball that are slower get kicked off of the schedule. Just because it is slow doesn't mean it isn't a legit sport
- guhpol, on 08/25/2008, -3/+10I'm glad to see it on the Olympics!
- DigSomeMore, on 08/25/2008, -2/+9Good to see BMX at Olympics, very sweet!!!!
- gorgeoussand, on 08/25/2008, -2/+8I certainly agree with bixby1 and superb air shots. wish i could shoot like those photographers and have the same results. my kudos to the digger!!!!!!!!!
- jboitnott, on 08/25/2008, -3/+9This sport could have the legs to last several more Olympics. It may be a longtime favorite eventually like swimming or track and field even.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -0/+6OOOOOH! Now you got me!!! My favorite sport is cycling, all kinds: road, MTD, ciclocross, BMX
- mikek814, on 08/25/2008, -1/+7BMX is sweet, go go
- b3owulf, on 08/25/2008, -1/+7Like synchronized platform diving
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -0/+5It's a very dangerous sport, at the same time very amazing too..I love it. :)
- teh_spazz, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4Let's get a bunch of pictures of the riders in the air with no sense of scale and height.
- chrissku, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4I hope I never have to witness another 'speed walking' event in the Olympics for the remainder of my life.
- aigarius, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4Huh? Latvia won the men gold and we are not a rich country by any means. BMX bikes are rather cheap compared to the equipment for some other sports. Dare I mention sailing?
- jk_baller23, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4They were exciting but I wish that the races lasted longer. Also, instead of one race to determine the gold medalist they should have a few races, like they did to determine the final group, and tally up the scores.
- drbonemonkey, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Nothing beats catching air.. nothing.
- TheHardDisk, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3Where's E.T.?
- sajidf, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3I am so excited after looking at those pictures I got a tingle up me leg.....arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3Amazing sport, like this photographers.
- EntropyFan, on 08/26/2008, -0/+3Are you kidding me? As a chronic couch potato, just to have gotten that far (in anything, even Olympic couch sitting) would be awesome.
To be in the event, and at a point when you had a shot to go for silver? Maybe it would be disappointing to miss it, but damn, more then anything I've done in my profession. - b3owulf, on 08/25/2008, -1/+3I doubt he's been training too long for the Olympics - since, you know, this was the first year its ever been an event.
- lekahe, on 08/25/2008, -2/+4Not sure about BMX. but the photos are excellet!
- Bense, on 08/25/2008, -0/+2Now that we're official, you think we have room for one more on the Rad team?
- steviesteveo, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2Now it's just a matter of time until pistol duelling comes back
- MiIhouse, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2I am so glad they finally put BMX racing into Olympics. However it should be noted that that is not like an official BMX track, or at least not like the many tracks I've been at. Olympics track was HUGE, 35ft run in! (normally its 15-20), and that gap is 35ft also, which is huge distance to cover on a rigid bike, poor poor wrists :(. Nevertheless it was quite entertaining to watch!
- Funktastic, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2"He" is a she. And it's not the first time they've raced on that track. There was a trial (last year I think) which she actually won. In fact this is the first championship she's lost in 4 years. Not bad for a 19 year old.
*please excuse the gratuitous use of the word 'year'* - shawnanigans, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2What a horribly unfair sport to have in the Olympics for poorer countreis though.
- DismantleRepair, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2Look out for Sarah Walker. She's hot.
- TheHardDisk, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2Have you seen how many bicycle riders China has?
- bitbytebit, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1apparantly there were some other australian commentators jeering at athletes. The swimming one and the equestrian one, or were they all the same jackasses?
- sammydeath, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1finally! not everyone wants to play football or go swimming etc. Being a bmxer of around 5/6 years, im glad it went so well and the riders are finally seen as athletes
- p3ngwin, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1@war3zone:
you *would* agree with him?
when?
or IF what circumstance were true?
one agrees or disagrees, there is no in between, so all that is left is the time frame.
you say you WOULD agree but don't say what circumstances? - JJN1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Great pics! Anyone think MTB 4X could be in the Olympics too...pretty similar set-up...only bigger bikes, rougher terrain, (even) more speed/air...???
- myalibi, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Nice pics, but the idea of bmx racing is to get as little air as possible so you can be on the ground pedaling.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Those guys can fly
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1I used to ride BMX, until I busted my arm on a bad fall. Now I just enjoy watching it.. Especially the X Games..
- jsaya, on 08/26/2008, -0/+12 Legit
- prokool, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1i love this sport!! great pics! i had a bmx wheni was in skool! i miss it!!
- Funktastic, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Olympic Unicycle FTW!
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1I remember the push to get BMX in the Olympics back in the early 80s. Glad to see it finally happen and that riders from several different countries where there. Amazed that it got some fairly good air time on NBC.
- TheHardDisk, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Isn't Surfer Dude Lingo?
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1I can't believe it's an olympic sport now... That's cool. I used to be into BMX when I was a kid.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1I guess it was just you.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Didn't know there where enough emo ***** in London.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+2The people who run the Olympics are making smart choices by picking sports that are popular with new generations.
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+2I'd agree with you
- Laiden, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1The fact that only a couple countries can compete makes it not legitimate.
