- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+21They use a RC helicopter to get a lot of the footage- really innovative stuff.
- SpartanErik, on 07/07/2008, -3/+22Anyone else think this was disease-related?
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -0/+15nothing special, but the video quality is excellent
- falstaff, on 07/07/2008, -0/+12"Something somewhat lacking in this state."
*****. From Sundance to Moab, there is something within a few hours drive for every rider of every skill level, at any time of the year. 90% of the state is public land. If you can't find anywhere to bike in Utah, you're probably still riding your Huffy from 4th grade anyway. Unless that was sarcasm, in which case...um, nevermind. - miqal, on 07/07/2008, -1/+14I thought he was going to bike with the kid on his back.
- diggduggDOOM, on 07/07/2008, -3/+13Is it contagious?
- crushallcakes, on 07/07/2008, -0/+8it's not a bad set-up for a back yard, but there are north shore style videos out there that are about a thousand times more entertaining.
Darren Barrecloth's part from ROAM, for instance, is one of the most ridiculously awesome mountain bike video parts of all time.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=eVAccWTrnIQ - kburkat, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7been done before!

- PacoBell, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6Ugh. It's "teeter", with an 'e'!
- zephyr42, on 07/07/2008, -2/+8Mountain biking is a badass sport.
Jebus I love it. (the riders in the video are pretty noobish though...) - snotrokit, on 07/07/2008, -0/+5very
- SlapAyoda, on 07/07/2008, -1/+6I thought Mountain Bike Sickness was an illness.
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+5Never use the word "sick" to describe something you find cool, neat, or awesome again.
- mttyd, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4meh...
- zephyr42, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4You should. Never too late to get back into it.
- sodade, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Ok, this is cool and all, but I really don't think it is fair to call it "mountain biking." I've been an MTBer for almost 20 years now and my my experience of it is totally different than doing man made stunts like this. I'm not trying to dis on the freeride hucker crowd, some of my good friends are all into that and honestly, I am kinda puss when it comes to drops over 4' and narrow ramps that are fairly easy to ride, but have a huge price for failure.
Mountain biking to me is getting yourself into the middle of nowhere (>10 miles from a trailhead), dealing with sketchy sections of trail, massively long climbs (>2000') and running into things like bears (two times in the last month, I have come up on a black bear).
The thing with this kind of riding is that it is much more difficult from a skills and endurance perspective, but it isn't as flashy as some crazy x-games thing. - archer75, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4I went into that expect to see people getting sick. Like Mountain Bike sickness was like car sickness, or sea sickness. So I was disappointed.
- Steinr, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4makes me wanna get back on a bike, I have not been riding seriously in almost 10 years.
- snotrokit, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4Great riding guys! Love the video, wish it were closer.
I broke my neck doing stuff like that. Really. I spent 12 weeks in a brace, couldn't drive for an addition 8 wks. I was very very lucky. Apart from some neat abilities crossing my eyes, (occular nerve damage, I can do some wicked crossed eye tricks) I came out OK. If I didn't have a helmet on, I would be dead. Aaaaah the good ol days. - Retrospekt, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4That was pretty damn cool. Wouldn't it get boring after the 40th time riding it though?
- surfshaker, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3Roam was ok, but its a few years old. Seasons is the new video from that film crew. Here is the teaser
http://www.pinkbike.com/video/11286/ - zephyr42, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I've done both and I have to say they are both badass for totally different reasons... road biking is more about enduring pain for extended periods of time (aka 100+miles), whereas mountain biking can be anything, free-riders, cross country, downhill, or mountaincross.
- ej1oo1, on 07/07/2008, -3/+5It seemed to me like they tried to make it look as unexciting as possible. Its still cool but the music and editing almost makes it boring to watch.
- specialbuddy1, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I was at Alta one day and some guys were flying a RC helicopter around. I wonder if it was the same guys.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2he is talking about the wooden ramps, jumps, drops and other stunts, not biking in general.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Happy to hear things were okay. As cool as the stunts look, I doubt I would have the nerve to ride them.
- sodade, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2That's the problem with this kind of riding - it is really not all that difficult, but the price for failure is steep.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2probably was.
- reginaldino, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I fail to see why people think full-sussers are required for ~3ft drops. Hardtails are where it's at!
- idreamnow, on 07/07/2008, -3/+4Great Vid...
- bloogey, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2i wondered how they filmed that - looked super good and steady!
- snotrokit, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1got that right, although some of the stunts that I have seen require a fair bit of courage to attempt. Some of the North Shore stuff was getting way out of hand when I "retired". I think You Tube has some of the Red Bull freeride stuff on it that just makes me cringe. Although I still do have my Kona Stab Primo - you know, just in case. ;)
- thegr8db, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Good link. Its what the Ewok would have made if the rode bikes!
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2Not as bad ass as road biking. Viva le tour!
- pixelguru, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1It is, and the only cure I know of is to take a nice long ride.
- sodade, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1I do both as well and while mountain biking has a lot more going for it in the "fun" department, the man/machine interface on a road bike is pretty ***** cool.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the links, we don't all live in in BC, so for Utah this is pretty good. The USFS around here has some chainsaws and a penchant for destroying any stunts the get built.
- quakken, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1that is CRAZY. crazy AWESOME. Where was that? I want to try that.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1ain't that the truth. now what am i doing sitting here at the PC?
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -0/+0Yeah, I haven't properly been mountain biking before but it does look like it could be fun. And you can wear Camelbaks as a MTB-er without being out-casted. This isn't the case with roadies wearing Camelbaks, which sucks because they're so damn convenient.
