- deadasdisco, on 04/12/2009, -0/+20man that looks fun as *****.
- coastiefish, on 04/12/2009, -0/+17Looks fun, but it doesn't compare to plummeting to the Earth from 13,500 at 100mph.
- navidb, on 04/12/2009, -1/+11aw man, studying distractions are depressing :( sweet video
- petro62, on 04/12/2009, -0/+9I saw a guy do something like this on Nitro Circus with Travis Pastrana. It was quite nuts the stuff he was doing. He would fly to the top of the machine and then drop at high speeds just inches to the floor and then level out. Pretty cool stuff. And before anyone says anything it does pain me to say I watch MTV, but the Nitro Circus show is pretty cool.
- theysayjump, on 04/12/2009, -0/+9Doing my first jump in seven days, I can't wait! :D
- coastiefish, on 04/12/2009, -0/+7Once you have tasted flight you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward,
for there you have been and there you will always long to return. - fieldhockey44, on 04/12/2009, -1/+7You'd know if you had watched the video.
- kungfool101, on 04/12/2009, -3/+9Looks like this is another angle of this same performance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg4kEUvLTls - QcRoman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+4Freefall simulator, vertical wind tunnel, the names exist but they don't strike as good an image in the population's mind.
- bikeidaho, on 04/12/2009, -1/+5We have one of these here in Utah. Ogden, UT is home of one of these cool indoor activities. Check it out for yourself. http://www.iflyutah.com
- QcRoman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3It's a different experience.
Skydiving involves a minute of freefall after which you need to track away and open (the parachute). There is a sense of urgency to deploy after so many seconds that becomes almost second nature after so many jumps. So your freefall time is limited and you have to keep in mind/worry about everything else.
On the other hand you are also outdoors, high in the sky with almost nothing keep you from enjoying the view. And you get to fly the canopy which is a whole different sport in itself from freefalling.
The wind tunnel takes away all the need to keep track of altitude. And you don't need to wear the rig, you feel very light in the wind without one and it is nice to be able to enjoy freefall without it. You are also much more aware of your movement because of the proximity of the walls, which makes training for almost any move much easier. Being able to go more than 60 seconds at a time and more than once every thirty minutes is also much more fun.
;-) - purepremiumpulp, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3I'd hate to see your energy bill...
- QcRoman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Millions. Skyventure Montreal was built just this winter and it is an expensive venture.
- lorem1000, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Agreed. I did one tunnel training "dive" at the one in Orlando after finishing AFF. It was fun--and I recommend it--but absolutely nothing like jumping for real.
Interestingly enough, the only time I ever hurt myself in nearly 100 jumps was in that tunnel. Exiting out the doorway I wasn't prepared for the difference of air pressure and got sucked into the doorway, hitting my damn neck and shoulder pretty hard. Nothing serious, but hurt for a while.
And no one should expect to be able to do anything like that video their first time. Or their tenth or twentieth... I still can't maintain a head down position long without tracking heavily. - rnawky, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Holy ***** I gotta find a place that has this!
- Joolz404, on 04/12/2009, -4/+6I would sell all my bellongings (except I-pod and headphones) and possibly my family to learn to do that and have one of those in my yard. My friends would never see me again. ***** awesome. Thats just got top spot on my crimbo list.
- Banhus, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I did this in Vegas once, most fun thing I have ever done so far. But it's SO much harder than it looks.
- Joolz404, on 04/12/2009, -1/+3I bet I'm not. I bet I'm older than you.
- coastiefish, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I always thought there should be another name for this, it really doesn't make any sense!
- Markdgod7, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I did this in Orlando. My instructor was a lot better than this guy. Fun as hell by the way.
- BxBoy, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2the music adds to the feel
- cccory, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2it IS fun as *****. there's a place in Perris, California with a wind tunnel. I've done it twice and I can't wait to go back. it's about $80 for 2 minutes of free falling. worth every penny.
- NiftyG, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2$10-20 million for the one in Hollywood.
- Kerr, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Can someone tell me what that song is that is playing?
- petro62, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Probably be about as cheap as the cost it would take to get this good in it. I was looking to do this in Vegas and it was really expensive IRC. I thought it was like $75 and you only get to "fly" for like 5 minutes.
- Shawno1, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Man, i want to do that someday... Looks so fun.
- quiddy, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2HOLY BALLS that looks fun!
- Aleriya, on 04/20/2009, -0/+1http://xkcd.com/150/
- w00tnot, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Actually, it's Love Foolosophy.
- RetepNamenots, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I've been to the airkix in Milton Keynes and done that. It's far more difficult than it looks, though!
- QcRoman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1As in a lot of things, people who are really good at it make it look very easy.
- phosphor112, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1*****, thats crazy. Too bad I'm dirt poor right now. All my money is going to my car and school. Hopefully, I'll have left over grant money and I'll do myself a favor.
- phosphor112, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Dugg for being one of the awesome things I'm gonna have to do before I die.
- purepremiumpulp, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1It's only about 40 bucks for 10 minutes... go do it.
- 10pins, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1That reminds me of a Jamiroquai video.
- alexllanio, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Serious question, and i would like people to contribute to this.... how much money do you think it would take to build one of these things? I really think this is like the best toy in the world.
- Woah_G!, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Which one? I love Jamiroquai, but I don't think I've seen that one.
- noahgelman, on 04/12/2009, -1/+2How high do you have to be for it to be counted as "sky" ?
- Rulex, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Enigma - Age of loneliness.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOUb-MPQ4L4 - zaxnyd, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Looks like the one at Hollywood CityWalk.
- QcRoman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1WTF ?! Balloon suits and a tunnel with so little glass area.
Video is old or that particular tunnel is and needs a major overhaul. - rnawky, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Awesome, I'm 18 miles from the Orlando one!
- KIERANMULLEN, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Where is this place?
- randoof, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Canned Heat

- jrattner1, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1Bad Ass
- Conguent, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1I wanna do it.
- Paulish, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1What you don't see is a ceiling covered in 2 foot long spikes and the men off screen forcing him to perform.
- alexllanio, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1yeah that bill would enormous.
- Foskey, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Another thing to go on the bucket list! Freaking awesome!
