- xelloss, on 08/17/2008, -1/+37Neighbors are going to love that.
- Surferess, on 08/17/2008, -2/+27My son has one just like it made out of legos.
- localhost6881, on 08/17/2008, -0/+24Ive done this many a time, the most important thing you have to watch for is the curve of the ramp - Ive made ramps that are far too steep, and ramps that arent steep enough!
- bloogey, on 08/17/2008, -0/+23that looks like an awesome ramp
- rheaume, on 08/17/2008, -0/+23Wow, cant mess up those instructions :p
- AmyVernon, on 08/17/2008, -0/+23nice job!
- netgeek06, on 08/17/2008, -0/+23Ok so the part I don't understand is where you are talking about predrilling the holes and countersinking for the final layer. Why can't use just screw it into the plywood?
- LanceUppercut, on 08/17/2008, -0/+20diggers wouldn't mind since I doubt the sound gets into the basement.
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -10/+27hehe.. I`ll think about it, as I am addicted to agressive in-line skating :)
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -2/+18That is awesome!
- samadam, on 08/17/2008, -0/+14You have to countersink and predrill or else you will get split wood and screw heads sticking up, which doesn't jive well with wheels.
But I may be misunderstanding your question. - sensibledriver, on 08/17/2008, -0/+11Where is the "plan" part? I see the write up and the ca. 1996 photo that makes you go to each and every page with no 'next/previous" function, but, no plans.
Pretty cool all around... - netgeek06, on 08/17/2008, -0/+10Awesome, My neighborhood kids would love this.
- WoodenKimono, on 08/17/2008, -0/+10the countersinking is done so that you don't have a bunch of screw heads sticking out. Usually you have to countersink before putting in the screws, but the soft masonite allows you to set the torque on the drill and sink them in automatically.
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -0/+9The half-pipe is awesome, will build one as soon as I move into my new home, there is some space needed to build one of these.
- TalksInMaths, on 08/17/2008, -1/+10HOA will have that ramp down in 2 days
- JonTheGoose, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7Why is it aggressive? Do you have to be angry while you skate?
- hollismb, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7Yeah, I thought that too. Sure, it SHOWS you them doing it, but it sure as hell doesn't give you plans, costs, amount of materials, etc. I've build half-pipes before, and this sure as hell doesn't tell you how to do it. There's no seven foot transition on it like they mention either.
Nonetheless, that's a sweet lookin' backyard ramp. - proficient, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7Woamg.
- LordHelmet, on 08/17/2008, -0/+7General rule on a mini is to make the transitions about 2 feet less than the height of the ramp.
- frenzybuddy, on 08/17/2008, -0/+6cool stuff you got there man!!
- WoodenKimono, on 08/17/2008, -0/+5or your home owners insurance company
- WoodenKimono, on 08/17/2008, -0/+5Great how to, but that masonite is going to melt after the first winter rains kick in.
- MacBookForMe, on 08/17/2008, -0/+5That's just fine for me. Now, what should I promise to my father to agree about the use of free land:)?
- ChLb, on 08/17/2008, -0/+5If you don't countersink (predrill) a hole in wood, you're likely to crack it when you tighten a screw in. Better safe than sorry.
- icdapoakr, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4I prefer to call it freestyle rolling
- terrya64, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4Bet the adult neighbors wouldn't.
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4Nice work. The one I built as a kid was much crappier, it fell apart on its own.
- JPOOPOO, on 08/17/2008, -2/+6Its called fruit-booting
- fax8, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4Nice guide. Would be interesting to know how much money you spent in the whole project.
- betocool, on 08/17/2008, -0/+4i made a 1/4 pipe @ school
- TalksInMaths, on 08/17/2008, -6/+10Yeah, its awesome if you're 13. I'm always worried about grown men who still play with skateboards. You gotta stop wearing the backwards caps and start putting on some decent shoes sometime in your life.
Oh, and, get off my lawn
/obligatory - piesforyou, on 08/17/2008, -2/+5...because ıt's fun? And you're outsıde ın the fresh aır and socıalısıng wıth people?
I worry about grown men stuck ın doors playıng world of warcraft all day long. - BDOUG, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3I have no interest in skateboarding but I salute your DIY awesomeness.
- Netrilix, on 08/17/2008, -0/+3Their (our?) parents won't like it though.
- gerryk, on 08/17/2008, -1/+3Why would anyone live in a place where a HOA has such power?
- yerblues, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2looks like a big flatbottom on that. 14feet?
- Blandyman, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Wow, you type like that? You're really that lazy?
- TheSnuffster, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2it's falling... with style!
- gatparker, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Because screws stick up and you feel that ***** on yer wheels. Always counter sink your screws for Masonite,
- sweetdan, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1is there a way to seal the masonite somehow so it doesn't wear as fast?
- eschompthis, on 08/17/2008, -1/+2i spent around 600, whats expensive is the 1/8 top layer of weather proof skatelite it cost around 80-175 dollars a sheet. So i ended up using masonite which is just 8 bucks a sheet, it will just need to be replaced every few months.
- maddendude, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1I always dreamed of doing this when I was a kid
- Whitey07, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Shame I don't skate anymore but it looks a cool addition to my garden.. if it didn't rain all the time!.
- bocce, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1I'm not a skateboarder, but that's still awesome. I know just a bit 'bout building things out of wood and I thought that that was nice work.
- coyasun, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1Nice...could come in handy.
- conradmstroud, on 12/21/2008, -0/+0Every year when we take down the Christmas tree and store it all away, I carefully put the ornament hooks back into their small cardboard box. Come next year, do you think I could find that box again? Another unusual use for paper clips is to use them as ornament hooks on your Christmas tree. They're actually
