- captainanndor, on 10/22/2008, -1/+26I feel bad for the guy, both because he failed and because of coming so close to death, but the 'crying into his mother's shoulder' thing cracked me up.
- Sunflare670, on 10/22/2008, -2/+26Good thing they didn't

Leave him hanging. - zadadka, on 10/22/2008, -0/+15It's "loser", loser.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+15I'm sure he'll rather die trying to accomplish something he's passionate about than die in the safety of his home of old age without accomplishing anything. I won't be surprised if he returns to this spot a year later and do it all over again.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+13Had he succeeded, he would've been a hero to dozens of people. Like 2 dozens.
- boardthis, on 10/22/2008, -0/+13looks like he is wearing samurai jammies.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9Badly.

- IphtashuFitz, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7Damn he's lucky. I still remember seeing the video footage of Karl Wallenda falling to his death when attempting his final walk between two buildings in Puerto Rico in 1978. It amazes me that any of these people attempt these sorts of things without any safety nets, harnesses, etc.
- JRW5061, on 10/22/2008, -0/+6really?
- zerton, on 10/22/2008, -1/+7people who do that are insane
- MacBookForMe, on 10/22/2008, -1/+7Lucky man! (without a safety net he was just asking to die...)
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -2/+8The stupid "fail" thing the internet has going on is just ***** obnoxious.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -2/+8***** that coulda ended bad...

Yeah right. - Felix2Fingerz, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4really badly
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4Even if you had spelled it right, you'd still sound like a cast member of the movie Clueless.
- freezerburn666, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4failure tears are the sweetest.
- zerton, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4mofo tv?
- garryw, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4He should get into lying on railroad tracks, there has to be some world record for that.
- Scira, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4He was

Hanging in there. - Brassbud, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3Oh well, perhaps he'll finally win his Darwin next year.
- rockon4life45, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I'd ***** myself. Twice.
- Knowltey, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Nothing illegal about it, and the world record attempt supervision are probably the ones that rescued him.
- cw1242, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Third picture is the best "oh no!" I've ever seen.
- czeman, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but think about what the Chinese government is doing to their athletes that didn't prevail in the Olympics. He's crying because he's scared about what they're gonna do to HIM.
- PennFarmer, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2So is the record for the greatest distance without any safety equipment? If not this stunt was just plain idiotic. Not that trying to break the no safety device record is any smarter, but at least there is a reason behind it.
- mareksoon, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2No, actually, the Ninja made it across, but no one saw him.
- sc0ttius, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Man NOT on Wire
- supawako, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2it's going to be a pain in the butt to fetch that pole out of the canyon.
- zacbro, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Is it just me or does it look like Jack Black in that picture?
- IphtashuFitz, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Thanks. I actually looked for the clip before I posted that but apparently they don't have any English versions of it on youtube.
- cloudberries, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2I've accomplished many things I'm passionate about. Fair enough, they may be mundane things like beating my own high score on Geometry Wars, but at least I don't need to put my life at risk doing it.
It's just that way with certain people. They're naturally inclined to take risks, and to get a kick out of it. - RobertGoulet, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1learn from Dean Potter. Yosemite Highline, 3000ft high, no safety line, enjoy:

- hoodoodave, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Yeah. It's really good. Probably my favorite movie of the year, definitely my favorite documentary of the year.
- Duffle, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Supertelephoto lenses have extremely narrow depth-of-field, which is why only the climber is in focus.
- hoisonsauce, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2He got major
[condom]
Hang time. - bnitro, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Is that the one about the guy who tries to walk across the Twin Towers? If so, I saw the trailer for it yesterday (looked awesome), the dvd is out soon.
- batman4y2k, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
