To all the haters of women's MMA -- come on, let the women enjoy the sport also. I know that their interests don't align with yours and its hard to understand why someone would put themselves through that type of pain. But remember, this was a fluke injury -- MMA as a general rule is safer than boxing (the referees stop the fight before serious injury occurs; they do not let a person take a serious concussion and get up and fight again). Also, there is no way that anybody could have known that her jaw was broken by that punch, otherwise I am sure the fight would have been medically stopped right then. - MaynardJK, on 06/25/2008, -0/+12Or, we just have a sense of humor.

She recovered, got up and continued to fight for the remainder of the bout. The picture is just a good shot of the damage sustained, not the actual first punch.

They are looking at creating a class for women which includes a title belt. I dunno if Kim Couture's fight is gong to hurt or help Women's MMA but it definitely shows that women can fight and punch.
The popularity of female is exploding since CBS aired Saturday night fights in which the ultra sexy Gina Carano(6-0 MMA, 12-1-1 Muay-Thai) rocked Kaitlin Young. Gina Carano is currently regarded as the face of Women's MMA. She is also "Crush" on American Gladiators

Kim got her ass handed to her. She showed no standup, which is fine since it takes years to get well-rounded. Except when an MMA fighter can't strike, they take it to the ground-- obviously the stronger part of Kim's game. She didn't, and got beat down.
