experiment tests climate change's impact
abc.net.au — A team of Australian scientists has embarked on what is being called a "climatic time machine". The scientists have set up an experiment at the University of Western Sydney's Richmond campus, aiming to mimic a world facing changing environmental conditions.

I hope you don't feel insulted. ;-)- Goeran1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This episode is a bit one-sided but still worth watching. Penn&Teller:*****! is infotainment at its Best.
- PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3P & T are wrong about a lot of things.
they do very basic research and pass it off as obvious. the laymen eats it up because they're just reflecting what the average person feels.
the only accurate one ive seen them do is the war on pot. and that one still had a anarchistic skew. - PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if anyone's seriously interested in understanding climate change these all shed insight

Environmental HYSTERIA is not good for anyone. even the environment.
That being said there are environmental problems (such as climater change) that need to be addressed, in a rational manner, without resorting to hysteria. - wacki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I hope you don't feel insulted."
He shouldn't, but you should. Notice how they put the lawyers that once claimed "tobacco doesn't cause cancer" against the biggest stoners on a college campus. Not a fair match. Also, a LOT of their facts were wrong. One being scientists predicted global cooling..... which they didn't.

Next time they should interview scientists, not hippies. - wacki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here is a point by point rebuttal on Penn and Teller:***** which is clearly just that....*****.

thanks for the link. bookmarked.
- qwickone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Wouldnt it take hundreds or thousands of years for the CO2 levels to be double what they are now? And then the trees would slowly adapt over time. So does it even matter how the trees respond? Becuase that's not really how it would happen in the future. That's like going back in time and brining a cave man to LA today. They would choke and die from lack of oxygen/prevalence of pollution in the air. According to the logic they're using with the trees, all humans right now should drop dead in LA from lack of oxygen.
- PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3nope. read up my friend. theres something called a tipping point where carbon sinks stop absorbing and start releasing CO2. it was recorded in europes heat wave of 2k3.

absorb the data and make your own conclusion.

it's extremely unlikely it's natural. and that's not just me saying it, it's 99.8% of climatologists.
it's like seeing a giant iceberg in front of you and deciding it may just be fog, and if you turned you'd spill some drinks. so you keep going forward. - Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ joerastaman
Lets not extrapolate certain LOCAL climate conditions (such as the melting of Greenland) to the whole planet.
That would be foolish

- miker71, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Stars get hotter as they get older. Maybe humans are accelerating the process, but we're still nature. Best get that space programme in top gear ...
- captaineuphoria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thank god we'll all be dead and buried when the ***** REALLY hits the fan.

- BigMucho, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0They cant even tell me if it's going to rain tomorrow with any degree of accuracy.... and where are all of this years global-warming induced hurricanes?
Is this really science, or just an academic video-game?- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is just a simple news article. NOT science.
The real science is in the academic journals.
