- nunquam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Well he got my digg for not using 'AMAZING' or 'Incredible!!!'
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Heh, good for him. Reminds me of the digging game in A Link To The Past on SNES. Too bad this guy didn't find a heart piece...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20It says there were 25,000 diamonds found at that park since it opened. If enough people hear of this expect the park to get DUGG to death by people looking for them.
- kiss079, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25Is that because the tv is a new and scary device to you?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9We'll go down in history as the 07'ers for the Arkansas Diamond Rush! Pack yer GPS and laptops people! Wer gonna strike it rich!
- dimsum05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Dugg for "Wowza!"
- Netmindstorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not if you've ever done it. It's hard to say it's "not worth it" when you see a story like this, but after about 5 minutes of "digging" I had enough; you need to be real lucky if you hope to find anything. I guess if you were passing by and had some time to kill, it could make a nice adventure, but I wouldn't plan a trip around it or go more than 15 minutes out of my way to do it.
- garf12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I have a lake house up by that park and I haven't found *****!
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Tell me when you can do a Print Screen in real life
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What I want to know is HOW MUCH IS IT WORTH??
Found this site: http://www.pricescope.com/RepRange.asp?shp=8&rng=9 .... but I don't have a clue what to look for :) - brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3imperium2000 might be estimating a little low but it isn't out of the question that it be worth very little. Unless a woman lost her wedding stone then this is an uncut diamond which almost certainly is full of discolorations and imperfections. Carat simply indicates size, not value. I can easily get a .8 carat diamond worth $8000-$10000 but it would be nearly flawless. The end value of this man's find depends on the clarity, color, etc and the cut. He has to find someone willing to buy it of course too. It certainly is exciting for him. Is it worth tens of thousands of dollars? Probably not.
- roaringshrimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3note to the poor guy: if you're not a salesperson for debeers, your diamond isn't worth anything
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A few hundred bucks. Ha ha ha. What is this 1955? Great Scott!
- emanggid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this is true... i've noticed that not very many people really BELIEVE this... just look it up!
Arkansas is the only place in North America that really has Diamonds. - TaylorLee88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I live in a town called Delight that is about 13 miles from the park, so I have went looking for diamonds numerous times i my life; but I have never found anything of value there. It is a good place to go if you are serious about digging and intend on digging a large hole to look in like Mr. Archer, but now you have to refill the holes you dig which really isn't worth the work.
- SilenceGold, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Being from Arkansas....I believe the story. You hear similar stories more often around friends and family here in Arkansas than in the media.
- JasonPrini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Diamonds are not worth very much.
The supply of diamonds is tightly controlled to artificially increase the price. Diamonds are not valuable. Try to sell one and you'll see. - CingleMolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Must... correct... grammar...
gone looking - patch6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2congratulations for finding a chunk of carbon that is slightly larger than average
- fozzie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I already saw this movie last weekend. I hope he finds his kid.
- Tolzmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why can't I ever be this lucky?
- mustafya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I live in LR also and used to live down south in El Dorado. I always liked going to the park just to hang out. Never found anything though.
- snowbooch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"wowza" indeed haha
- arg553, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so funny you had to post it twice huh?
beat me to it - Fly1m1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Like you taylorlee88, I live close by in Little Rock & it's just playing in the dirt.
- harriman714, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ chunky
any reason why you posted the same lame comment twice? - Fighterspj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1damn i went there and all i got was a little calcite or something
- groovychk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Interesting. Lots of people that like to trash Arkansas on here judging by the digg/digg down ratio.
- jgee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually i meant Jew as is in Jewish, the majority of diamond cutters are Jewish, but it looks like people on digg didn't know that and thought i was just being anti-semitic
- SteveDeGroof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"if you're not a salesperson for debeers, your diamond isn't worth anything"
Strictly speaking, diamonds aren't worth nearly what they're priced. (shirt-cuff speculation follows) If De Beers didn't control the market, diamonds would probably go for about the same as emeralds. Instead they're, what, 10 times that? - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NM, It's just homer at it again.
- oskite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You spend way too much time on the computer.
- JermDCH7, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6the sound you hear is the sound of a million rednecks running with picks
- MixMastaMetal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Lucky bastard!
- johnnyyuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ jgee
I assume your use of the word "jew" is an abbreviation for "jeweler" - stlblw4d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Isn't this state one of the nation's poorest in general? Why are they letting people just come around and take diamonds out of a place...when they know that before other really large ones have been found? What state government official decided that would be a good idea? It's like allowing their state to be depleted of natural resources and then coming crying to the federal government for help when they need something. Arkansas! Grow up and learn how to take care of your stuff! You'll never get anywhere if you keep this up!
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Inperium,
By your value estimate it's rather obvious you have never shopped for a diamond. Even a .5 Caret diamond of high quality can run you well over $1000.
When you reach that magical 1 Caret size the price jumps dramatically. - AgentOrn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Its a STATE PARK, so its not like this place where the diamonds are is a new site.
- emanggid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
I've been to Murphy's Burrow before and dug for diamonds! it wasn't very fun! then again, i didn't' find a 2+ carrot diamond.
Hooray Arkansas! Walmart! Diamonds! White Trash! Johnny Cash! that's about it. - thaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0MAN! I went on a fieldtrip there just like 2 months ago and my entire class didn't find *****. Plus it had just rained and was hella muddy.
- djrocksteady, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ grvychk
it's called a joke - chunkylover15, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2i do it to make up for my low self-esteem morbid obesity and my right foot which is larger then the left
- Visk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Screenshot, or it didn't happen
- haveacigar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Must be good publicity for them... think of all the chunky americans flocking to find their own...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3The price of 2.3 carats is decided by its quality, clarity, color etc. By the time its cut, it'll be about 1 carat...a simple wedding ring size. Its worth a few hundred at best.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3This is a scam. They probably placed a few of these nuggets around once in a while for publicity. It nothing is ever found, who's going to visit the place?
- KniteWulf, on 10/12/2007, -13/+7Screenshot or it didn't happen.
;) - groovychk, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2@kiss079
Har har har. You so funny. - jgee, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3The price of a diamond is determined by how it is cut, so there is really now way to know how much it is worth untill some jew slices it up.
