- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+31cool idea, but article is kinda useless without a picture of an ad
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -0/+15I got my face chopped off trying to read one of those ads.
- PeachesTheCow, on 02/05/2009, -1/+15Oh man, this is a god awful idea. I love wind power, but even so, I have issues with turbines being everywhere. This would tip me over the edge.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 02/06/2009, -0/+11http://www.aquatooth.com/images/350w_wind_turbine_ ...
It's an ad for Target. :D - stephhicks68, on 02/05/2009, -0/+10Personally, I think its an inventive idea! Only problem is that they like to cite turbines in areas where they can be readily seen.
- ChronicColonic, on 02/06/2009, -0/+8Advertising that breaks wind™.
- VelvetoneFusion, on 02/06/2009, -1/+9If it gets wind power up and running, you can tie Ronald McDonald himself to the blades for all I care.
....
Actually, can we do that anyway? - brandita, on 02/06/2009, -0/+8Please, no! They are mostly out in undeveloped areas and this would be a huge eyesore. They look beautiful just as they are!
- mickeylaspalmas, on 02/06/2009, -1/+7come on... please... let's leave a FEW things on earth ad-free... or is the white space on highway lane markers going to be next? jesus.
- tgc1, on 02/06/2009, -0/+6Next up:
Ads on power lines, ads on your roof, ads that take up entire phone poles, ads on the street, ads on the sidewalk, ads on that guys butt over there, ads on your bumper, ads on your face, ads on your hands, ads on your toothbrush, ads on your feet, ads on your eyelids, ads on your nose, ads on turtles, ads on your vagina, ads on your dingaling, ads on fish, ads on your food, ads on your toilet, ads on public toilets, ads on the ceilings above public toilets, ads on poop that is in the public toilets that has ads above it, ads on everything. Let's just plaster the entire world with ads. That's a sure fire way to ramp up the economy.
/s - murrdpirate, on 02/06/2009, -1/+7Windvertising is a stupid word. They only share one letter.
- adiggityam, on 02/06/2009, -0/+5Lightspeed Briefs! Style and comfort for the discriminating crotch.
- moothemagiccow, on 02/06/2009, -0/+5Is anything safe from blends? Staycation, Windvertising, where will it end
- hbyrne, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4Looks like there's one there now.
- superfusion, on 02/06/2009, -1/+5That sounds as awesome as the time I let Discovery Channel put ads on my windshield wipers.
- mickeylaspalmas, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4technically the concept is known as a "portmanteau" - a good $20-word to impress co-workers with. "i say, i must express my disenfranchisement with the overabundance of portmanteau in the vernacular... fie!"
- davidg11, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4Great...some people think the sound of wind turbines are annoying.
Wait until they get a load of this! Visual pollution!
Woo hoo! - Jacare, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4its a refreshing idea ill give ya that. but it fails miserably when put into practice, as many others have brought up it would require putting the turbines in plain view in areas with heavy traffic, what most are failing to realize is that unfortunately there are very few if any places in the world that would meet both traffic requirements and adequate wind force.
- Frostek, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4LEELA: Didn't you have ads in the twentieth century?
FRY: Well, sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio... and in magazines... and movies, and at ballgames, and on buses, and milk cartons, and T-shirts, and bananas, and written in the sky. But not in dreams, no sirree. - fixty, on 02/06/2009, -0/+4I believe they intend to put many smaller turbines in *developed* and/or high traffic areas where there are enough people to see the ads.
I don't care for billboards, so I'm all about swapping them out for ad-turbines if it furthers the cause of green energy/energy independence. It's a pretty clever win-win idea. - winmywii, on 02/06/2009, -0/+3In reality they would leave the billboard but add the windpower ad to power it.
- phreak79, on 02/06/2009, -0/+3Isn't one of the big things about wind turbines is that they're generally a long way from any people?
- lepetitmousse, on 02/06/2009, -1/+4wind turbines should not be in good advertising areas, they should basically be anywhere but.
- arielh85, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2PacWind invented the Windvertising idea.
- moothemagiccow, on 02/08/2009, -0/+2no dude it's a blend. portmanteau is *****
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -0/+2Cool idea? I think it sukks! Why do advertisement have to be everywhere on the planet?
Don't they ever know when to stop? - Orsenfelt, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2Is that PacWind thing anything to do with 'Windvertising' or is it just thrown in as a plugged product because they hinted at Wind Turbines being eye sores? .. That's quite confusing.
- eifersucht12a, on 02/06/2009, -1/+3It makes a nice incentive to use more turbines to generate power, so that's good. And I don't mind turbines seeing turbines, especially as usual in a long stretch of road through a desert. The overwhelming amount of white is a problem, but doing this could make them just like any billboard.
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2Billboards are a problem, too- a bigger one.
- brandita, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2Pics or it didn't happen.
- fixty, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2Disenfranchisement?
...I do not think it means what you think it means. - Frostek, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2The numbers of birds that die in wind turbines are negligible.
How many do you think die yearly from flying into windows? - apena89, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2i wana see it spinning really fast
- enotswhat, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2lol, corporations still win
- jmill987, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2What about when the wind isn't blowing? Will it just look like random pieces of images?
- pumanegra2012, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1True to type..advertisers are innovative
- davidg11, on 02/06/2009, -1/+2How ironic that the birds who die from these turbines might see a giant cat in an ad for meow mix cat food.
MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW! - Nudar, on 02/06/2009, -1/+2No video = buried.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 02/06/2009, -2/+3If I was looking for a good owl exterminator, first place I'd look would be wind turbines.
- Alberto466, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1That means you will be able to watch (hey, be careful, poles ahead) an animated-short along a Mid-West road with 200 wind turbines on either side! Drive safely. Luckily, you are not allowed to put ads on your windshield wipers. The mortality rate...ye...give me the "chill".
- adiggityam, on 02/06/2009, -2/+2Frog-eater.
- borschwanger, on 02/06/2009, -3/+2because they dont make enough money in the first place
