Water Permeable Concrete Pavement Saving the World?

loe.org — NPR has a story on Ecocreto that promises to revolutionize urban drainage. It's a little hard to imagine that water permeable concrete is a new new thing, so I suspect that the real story is whether this material is strong, long lasting, maintainable, and very importantly, degenerate well and does not leak bad chemicals. Remember MTBE, anyone?
