- Icecream, on 12/09/2007, -2/+31I wouldn't have clicked this, but since it was in caps, how could I refuse.
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -0/+11Nuclear is the way to go.
- Nads8, on 12/09/2007, -0/+10A good way to bring Libya and other developing countries into the modern era. Focusing on human rights and job creation. Moving away from poverty and drugs.
- afbase, on 12/09/2007, -0/+8this link is dead
this site needs the WORLD'S LARGEST SUSTAINABLE SERVER - neutralmind, on 12/09/2007, -1/+8CAPSLOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL
- 2oonhed, on 12/09/2007, -1/+8HEY! I ONCE SAW A RABBIT! IT WAS A BROWN RABBIT. IT WAS HOPPING AROUND AND EATING FLOWERS AND GRASS. THEN IT STOPPED AND THE BROWN RABBIT LOOKED RIGHT AT ME AND MADE A DOOKIE! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?....A DOOKIE!.....LOOKING RIGHT AT ME!......AND STUFF.
- Zique, on 12/09/2007, -3/+9I have a better idea: get an actual degree in economics so you won't go about spreading false conspiracy crap in places where they don't belong and where no one wants to see them.
- fef560, on 12/09/2007, -0/+6Wouldn't it make sense to build this somewhere else besides the place where the last thing they built there got destroyed due to an earthquake?
- capiCrimm, on 12/09/2007, -1/+6if there is no room for disagreement or questioning in a profession then I highly doubt I would want a degree in it. Have you ever noticed when scientists refute creationists they use *gasp* science and logic. They don't *call* them nuts and be done with it, they prove they're nuts. At the very least it sharpens their own arguments.
Second, having a degree doesn't make you *smart*. A Ph.D might, but a degree just shows you can count to 10 and recite your ABCs. - Dokument, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4depends on how long your definition of sustainable is.
- thebellmaster1x, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4Ah, but then we wouldn't have the people who make Digg Digg.
- mojaam, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4I thought digg had an ALL CAPS FILTERING SYSTEM that won't allow such stories to make the homepage. I though wrong.
- shadyacres, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4link is down, the article probably sucked anyway
- christianboutin, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3Sustainable isn't a word whose meaning is that hard to grasp. Webster Merriam defines it as "of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged". For example, clear-cutting isn't sustainable. Because trees renew at a much slower pace than they are cut. Sooner or later you are going to run out. And long before you do, the consequences of having less and less trees will be felt and may lead to the un-sustainability of other things, such as the ability of the planet to support life. Just a small example. Not that big a word, maybe overused here and there (mainly by marketing firms) but that's about it.
- mydiggname, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4No no...it's nucular....
- RedStateRetard, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2Where they going to get the water for this area?
Desalination of the Mediterranean? Have they figured out a cheap way to do that? If they did, other nations would like to know also. - Nfed163, on 12/09/2007, -4/+6hey... wouldn't the world as a whole be the worlds largest sustainable development?
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2EVEN WITH CRUISE CONTROL YOU STILL HAVE TO STEER
- tchynerd, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2Hmm you know i always thought the biggest sustainable environment was the earth. all joking aside it seems like the laws of thermodynamics kinda show that over the long term it really isn't self sustaining at all
- Murdats, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1baring a meteor or other disaster of some sort, this planet has, and will continue to develop life, maybe not our life but life never the less.
- muller, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1WORLD'S LARGEST BORING HEADLINE
- mfaras, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1Site is down, mirror here:
http://duggmirror.com/environment/WORLD_S_LARGEST_ ... - Ludnix, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1Precipitation is the sustainable way of desalination.
- Digg4This, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1I think high yield solar is the way to go... Google NanoSolar - it could revolutionize the vast parts of the world with lots of sunlight.
- wisam, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1Actually Libya is floating on underground water and oil. Gazafi extracted water from wells and created his own "Nile". He named it "The Great River". A stupid idea if you ask me. Running underground water in surface rivers for it to dry or end up in the sea instead of using it modestly is absurd.
- chosenone-, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1Anyone can get a PhD in any field and call themselves a doctor.
- azurechaos, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2I know a lot of people on digg are really set on nuclear being the way to go, so is there a new consensus on what a good waste management plan is for it?
- capiCrimm, on 12/09/2007, -3/+3the black market is very lucrative. If more people start honest jobs, then there will be a shortage of labor in the drug trade. That in turn will drive up the reward, and now your drug trade is back to equilibrium again. With that of course is all the human rights problems from keeping it in the shadows.
Utopia is a great ideal for third world countries, but it's not necessarily a possible outcome. Look at what happens when we try to force 'democracy' on countries. - larcher01, on 12/11/2007, -0/+0blah, blah blah... everyone's clicking away on their keyboards, arguing in cyberspace about Global Warming with people whose opinions you won't change, but who's really doing anything proactive to help foster real conversations in their offices, homes or... wherever? Talking to the people you know is where you can make the biggest difference in awareness. Look:
www.eradicatedcarbon.com - Nfed163, on 12/09/2007, -1/+1should have built it on the moon... no earthquakes there
- topace3000, on 12/09/2007, -1/+1I can't imagine this doing anything but crashing and burning.
- SpazticChips, on 12/09/2007, -2/+1Ha, Libya, stable. You make me laugh.
- das7282, on 12/09/2007, -5/+2Buried as lame because of all caps.
- Berkana, on 12/09/2007, -14/+4Microbanking? I know this much: if the banks, micro or not, are permitted to practice fractional reserve banking and charge interest on money they made up from nothing, it will not be economically stable. See this for details:
