- iXneonXi, on 11/06/2008, -2/+29MUDKIPZ!
- THMike, on 11/05/2008, -0/+25It's not actually a fish. A kind of salamander that lives underwater.
- Shaggy3, on 11/06/2008, -0/+23Pokeball, GO!
- iceman0113, on 11/06/2008, -3/+25Mudkip!
- DeskFlyer, on 11/06/2008, -0/+18You had me at 'Asian girls'.
- tehrich, on 11/06/2008, -0/+17When I was in Japan I saw them on sale in a pet shop. I had no idea they were endangered. They're nicknamed wooper looper over there for some reason and are actually the inspiration for Wooper, not Mudkip.

- THMike, on 11/05/2008, -0/+12Either god, or Mexico city urban planners...
- cinder, on 11/06/2008, -0/+11I'm not a biologist, but to answer your question, I'd say "sort of". I read about it in one of my geology books. It is thought to have evolved from a salamander species, but is sexually mature even though it retains this "juvenile stage". What is cool is it can be changed into a land animal when injected with thyroxine, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland in salamanders but is absent in the axolotl.
- blazingflash317, on 11/06/2008, -0/+11MUDKIP WAS CAUGHT!
- THMike, on 11/05/2008, -0/+10Yeah, I hope that we have sequenced its genome.

- vsujohn2, on 11/06/2008, -0/+8That better be one hell of a strip mall.
- Gosroth, on 11/06/2008, -0/+7actually yes, they are amphibians
- KurtangleTN, on 11/06/2008, -2/+9of course they are nearing extinction, shiny pokemon have around a 1/9000 chance of appearing. That shiny mudkip is so rare because you can't chain them.
- agentvincent, on 11/06/2008, -1/+8"One of the coolest things about Axolotl - apart from their appearance - is they ability to regenerate most body parts. "
Too bad it can't regenerate it's environment. sucker. - mercury187, on 11/05/2008, -0/+7but it can regrow its body parts
- jboitnott, on 11/06/2008, -0/+7That is the most amazing thing I have seen today -- hands down.

- ThePenrod, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6I'm digging you up for the fact that you corrected an item of Pokemon-related trivia. I bow to your vastly superior nerdiness.
- inactive, on 11/06/2008, -1/+7You biologists out there ... is this one of the salamanders that never actually leaves its larval stage?
- Flare, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6Somos la mera verga parada!
- ThePenrod, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6Even in the face of death, the Axoltol stays surprisingly optimistic. Like Han Solo, he tries not to pay attention to his odds of survival.
- bpmdub, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6It is legal as a pet one of my friends had one growing up and a pet shop not too far from me is selling them currently

- 12916studios, on 11/06/2008, -0/+5Happy fish is not happy.
- samotage, on 11/06/2008, -1/+5It's a real crying shame the things that need to be done to save these guys are really hard to do, and are in conflict with so many things in society that we regard as our "rights"...
- venom8599, on 11/06/2008, -1/+5Stupid fish. That'll teach them to go around walking. Who do they think they are--amphibians?
