This is why nuclear power isn't the answer to global warming
guardian.co.uk — French nuclear firm admits uranium leaks at two plants: The French nuclear giant Areva yesterday confirmed there was a radioactive leak from a broken pipe at a nuclear fuel plant in south-eastern France, a week after a uranium spill at another of its plants polluted the local water supply.

If leaks could be eliminated, then nuclear power would be an excellent solution to our energy needs. America has a lot of nuclear power plants...and we don't hear about leaks all over the place. No, it seems that modern nuclear plants are relatively quite safe.
Convert everything that you can to run off batteries. Minimize or improve the vehicles where batteries could not be effective like aircraft and container ships. Incorporate large amounts of solar, wind, and hydrodynamic power sources.
Whew! Now...who is going to pay for everything?- iFrikkenR, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4Of course you don't hear about it. The LAST thing you want to do if you run a nuclear plant is admit when there's a leak.
No. Instead you clean it up and keep quiet about it. If no one died, it never happened
If you check this list, you'll note a lot of them occurred in the US:

"As of 2005 the NRC reports that there have been 33 significant precursor events beginning in 1971 to 1979 (Three Mile Island). Since Three Mile Island, none have been reported.
While no significant precursor events have been reported since then, other accidents continue to occur."- JimmySpaza, on 07/20/2008, -2/+1OK. Accidents do occur. But we don't take all the vehicles off the road because tens of thousands of people die in auto accidents every year. Why not build more reactors considering that NO ONE (that we know of) has died...and look at all the benefits.
