There's something in the water... Pharmaceuticals?
news.yahoo.com — A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans.

Wow, I am starting to have second doubts about the water i drink now on top of all the other stuff i have to worry about in life. I wonder if they will find this in other areas as well.

This isn't new ... just another study. Another was reported last year: http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/03/healthscien ... and probably the year before. But it doesn't make it less important. Concerns for the environment are more important than concerns for our own health since the quantities we get are so small. However, some drugs, especially birth control medications are gender benders in fish: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-02/nsa ... Now that is significant!

it figures.......... well, what will we do to stop this? Its not a fight we cant win, its just a fight that will take much time and effort.
I am game, because I have children who I would like to not glow in the dark, or grow extra limbs. -
Just think how much continued exposure you get once add growth hormone beef and milk, preservatives from everything, and all other accidental exposure, plus air pollution, plus toxins in your vegetables from pesticides.... Can I still live in a bubble?

And they tell us to drink 8 full glasses a day! And bottled water is bad for the environment and us! Can't win!

I am looking forward to the day I glow in the dark from all the chemicals, then I will never trip over anything when I wake up to go to the bathroom, except maybe the extra set of feet that grew from the chemicals

There were warnings of this in the late 60's but almost no one listened. At that time they had found that there was one town in England where the women could not get pregnant. After testing the towns water it was found to have the residue of birth control pill ingredients. It made front news for about 5 minutes and that was that.
Those that were concerned about the air, water and our living planet were dismissed as "hippies". Imagine if one of these "hippies" would have made it into government ( as in President or Prime Minister), maybe the earth would have been better off. -

I'm produce my own water w/ a reverse osmosis system, the water which is produced is four parts per billion/ impurity per water. The water straight out of the tap is closer to 20 to 30 parts per billion. I can even taste the difference. But don't forget some vitamins and minerals are still important to add when drinking water. But hey what do I know I'm just a turtle...

I actually don't drink a lot of water though... mainly pop. -
All too often people who have genuine concern for the environment get labeled as "leftist" or something ridiculous like "communist" , "anti-capitalist". When in fact it's those who understand capitalist systems who can have the greatest concern for the environment. Economists call undesirable side effects like pollution "externalities" and there are a variety of ways in which society can try to deal with them (which is another debate). My point is that markets are a tool and we can choose how we use them. They become "good" or "bad" depending on how we let them operate (and for the ultra libertarian crowd - it's impossible for a 100% free market, as this article proves).

You can get a glipse of what people in those areas are taking:
SHOCKER...anti-anxiety medications were detected in a portion of the treated drinking water for 18.5 million people in Southern California.
SHOCKER.. Northern New Jersey, and found a metabolized angina medicine and the mood-stabilizing carbamazepine in drinking water.
HA! REAL SHOCKER!! A sex hormone was detected in San Francisco's drinking water. -

Wonder if this could be an explanation for how ***** insane people have become in the last 40 years. Especially Baby Boomers (The Worthless Generation). They've been exposed to this crap the longest. -

This isn't a conspiracy, if you tin-foil hatters actually read the news you'd realize that this is just a byproduct of drinking our own filtered urine.
We take meds, we pee out the meds, trace amounts of the meds get through our water treatment process, we drink trace amounts of said meds...
Or you could defy logic and reason and just assume that this is a result of our shadowy puppet masters taking one step closer to complete world domination. -

ah well, this is shocking anyhow, In places like India, or China, the people are so used to unsafe tap water, so they have water purifiers, or just boil it every morning before they use it for consumption for the day. -
