- greatmunizzle, on 03/10/2008, -1/+40I always drink a glass of water for a headache anyways.....
- BrennanK, on 07/28/2008, -2/+37And they tell us to drink 8 full glasses a day! And bottled water is bad for the environment and us! Can't win!
- nebby12, on 03/10/2008, -5/+38There were warnings of this in the late 60's but almost no one listened. At that time they had found that there was one town in England where the women could not get pregnant. After testing the towns water it was found to have the residue of birth control pill ingredients. It made front news for about 5 minutes and that was that.
Those that were concerned about the air, water and our living planet were dismissed as "hippies". Imagine if one of these "hippies" would have made it into government ( as in President or Prime Minister), maybe the earth would have been better off. - jburka, on 03/10/2008, -3/+24This isn't new ... just another study. Another was reported last year: http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/04/03/healthscien ... and probably the year before. But it doesn't make it less important. Concerns for the environment are more important than concerns for our own health since the quantities we get are so small. However, some drugs, especially birth control medications are gender benders in fish: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-02/nsa ... Now that is significant!
- dudefather, on 03/10/2008, -1/+20Don't drink the water...they put something in it, t-to make you forget. I don't even remember how I got here
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 03/10/2008, -4/+23you know how you can tell if you've been drinking polluted water?
your sperm won't have a tail but your kids probably will. - indiancompanion, on 03/10/2008, -3/+21Wow, I am starting to have second doubts about the water i drink now on top of all the other stuff i have to worry about in life. I wonder if they will find this in other areas as well.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -1/+19we are not killing the planet - we are killing ourselves.
The planet will be here long after we are gone. - RingotheJedi, on 03/10/2008, -1/+17Just think how much continued exposure you get once add growth hormone beef and milk, preservatives from everything, and all other accidental exposure, plus air pollution, plus toxins in your vegetables from pesticides.... Can I still live in a bubble?
- Mpwns, on 03/10/2008, -1/+15I blame Shelbyville.
- kystorms, on 03/10/2008, -2/+16it figures.......... well, what will we do to stop this? Its not a fight we cant win, its just a fight that will take much time and effort.
I am game, because I have children who I would like to not glow in the dark, or grow extra limbs. - lacolonel, on 03/10/2008, -6/+20It makes you wonder what else is in the water.... autism anyone?
- airwalkery2k, on 03/10/2008, -1/+14Bottled water comes from the same source--tap water. As does soda, sports drinks, and other beverages.
Unless they somehow removed all of the drugs from wherever they got their water from, it's unlikely to be any more safe.
The point is, we all live in the same pool. So think twice before pissing in it. - Sogui, on 03/10/2008, -2/+14This isn't a conspiracy, if you tin-foil hatters actually read the news you'd realize that this is just a byproduct of drinking our own filtered urine.
We take meds, we pee out the meds, trace amounts of the meds get through our water treatment process, we drink trace amounts of said meds...
Or you could defy logic and reason and just assume that this is a result of our shadowy puppet masters taking one step closer to complete world domination. - jawnboy, on 03/10/2008, -0/+12No, very few chemicals dissociate at temperatures that low.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -0/+98 glasses a day includes the water in your food, which they never tell you.
- cygnus2112, on 03/10/2008, -0/+8Pregnant? Must be the water.
- krust, on 03/10/2008, -0/+8Maybe if millions of individuals stopped taking so many pills the problem would get better.
- skobert, on 03/10/2008, -2/+9So I'm drinkin' the drugs from some old geezer that pissed 'em out a week or so ago?
*takes drink*
*spits*
..*takes drink* - warner444, on 03/10/2008, -1/+8I am looking forward to the day I glow in the dark from all the chemicals, then I will never trip over anything when I wake up to go to the bathroom, except maybe the extra set of feet that grew from the chemicals
- Cyberen, on 03/10/2008, -0/+7It's got Electrolytes!
- GhostyBoy, on 03/10/2008, -1/+8Make your own, but always buy the tinfoil in cash, so the government can't track the sale.
- mal1964, on 03/10/2008, -3/+10So water boarding might be good for you?
- hawksdomain, on 03/10/2008, -14/+21Just an example of how we are killing our planet...
- getrealnow, on 03/10/2008, -3/+9dupe
- slayerab, on 03/10/2008, -0/+5Don't panic, untill the only thing left to eat are jelly fish. MMM peanut butter and jellyfish
- NsinU8, on 03/10/2008, -3/+8I f'n knew it. For every conspiracy that has been brought to light, there are 5 more that slip by. Foil hat anyone?
- leubstop, on 03/10/2008, -2/+7You can get a glipse of what people in those areas are taking:
SHOCKER...anti-anxiety medications were detected in a portion of the treated drinking water for 18.5 million people in Southern California.
SHOCKER.. Northern New Jersey, and found a metabolized angina medicine and the mood-stabilizing carbamazepine in drinking water.
HA! REAL SHOCKER!! A sex hormone was detected in San Francisco's drinking water. - cascadianow, on 03/10/2008, -0/+5This reminds me of Dr. Strangelove all over again.
The purity of my bodily fluids~! - BlackJackJester, on 03/10/2008, -2/+7do you even know what that means?
- ronaldinho, on 03/10/2008, -0/+5your Mom did
- Agenda, on 03/10/2008, -1/+6Children of Men anyone?
- metapop, on 03/10/2008, -2/+6does anyone else wonder what the implications of sex hormones in our water might be, or wonder how long this has been going on?
- JackHorner, on 03/10/2008, -1/+5Welcome to the new world order.
- ThinkBox, on 03/10/2008, -0/+4sharks!!!
- jawnboy, on 03/10/2008, -0/+4You know, if you want to actually reach people, maybe start by not insulting them continuously over the entire span of your comment. Just an idea from one of the sheeple global warming truthers.
- Sogui, on 03/10/2008, -0/+4I dunno if you're being serious, but these are drugs that came from people's bodies, and were failed to be filtered out by our water treatment system... in trace amounts.
There's no conspiracy here, just an alarming truth. - Ellipsys, on 03/10/2008, -0/+4There have been studies to show that male organisms (fish, frogs are usually studied) have been "feminized" greatly because of this. Some grow female secondary sexual characteristics, some simply become infertile, etc. This is caused by an overabundance of endocrine distruptors and synthetic estrogens (admittedly, urinated birth control is probably not the culprit here). We are also seeing parallels in human male populations - male infertility is higher than ever, sperm quality is down, testosterone is down and estrogen is up. Hell, I've seen one study that says that the penises of baby boys born in 2005 are on average smaller than those born in 1985!
- ritter99, on 03/10/2008, -0/+4boiling doesn't help much with this kind of pollution ...
- mal1964, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3"What's not to like?
Small Nads. - thugok, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3Only if you drink it while it's still boiling.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -4/+7so alex jones was right
- johnpaul191, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3no no, Dasani (coke) and Aquafina (Pepsi) are literally just filtered tap water. There are plenty of options in terms of actual "spring water" or water that is not just filtered municipal water.
As for soda, sports drink, iced tea etc etc... yeah, that's just tap water and syrup, with some fizz added. - 2bees, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3Are they trying to convince us that this is because of diluted waste? How many friggin' people would have to take a sex hormone before it shows up DILUTED in tons and tons of water. Methinks the source must be different from what they are saying. Like maybe PURPOSELY put there for reasons still unknown. Maybe it's a huge experiment to see just how the people can be controled.
- Sogui, on 03/10/2008, -1/+4I dunno if you're being serious, but these are drugs that came from people's bodies, and were failed to be filtered out by our water treatment system... in trace amounts.
There's no conspiracy here, just an alarming truth. - silentboom, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3Well, these chemicals may be in there accidentally but fluoride is intentional. Look up the effects of flouride and then call your water company and ask why it is in your water.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3Except bottled water which is spring water.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3But the conspiracy theorists will run with this story for the next 30 years. It's a lose-lose situation.
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/10/2008, -0/+3Dr Strangelove reference perhaps?
- quarkde, on 01/04/2009, -0/+3this... isn't good.
