- doiveo, on 01/10/2009, -4/+87Trippy. Looks like miniaturized stop action animation.
- marskid2, on 01/11/2009, -0/+35A tilt-shift lens is a special kind of lens that allows the photographer to control (and in this case, shrink) an image's depth of field and perspective.
Excellent tutorial here: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/tilt-sh ... - hashfail, on 01/11/2009, -1/+22What a neat song. This is a well assembled video.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -8/+24that right there, is good stuff. thanks for posting.
- sockpuppets, on 01/11/2009, -0/+15He used very small people. I have a box of them myself for stealing people's pin numbers.
- andrespereyda, on 01/11/2009, -0/+15i wonder if there is tilt-shift porn, for those who get turned on by dioramas
- JamesBondJr, on 01/11/2009, -0/+15It's some special lens that he used for this, I think. He's made a lot of good videos using this style.
- CrushThemTorg, on 01/11/2009, -1/+13A tilt-shift lens would be the best $1,000 I'm never going to spend.
- D0rk4L, on 01/11/2009, -1/+13This guy has had pretty much every one of his tilt-shift videos he has on Vimeo on the Digg front page. Either he's friends with a power user or this is good stuff.
I'm going with the latter. - peteyb1313, on 01/11/2009, -0/+10http://still-scripts.com/photoshop/faking-miniatur ...
- WYendrys, on 01/11/2009, -0/+9I find Tilt-shift photography so cool. I can't figure out how blurring out the top and bottom instantly makes everything look like it's miniature. Whatever it is, it's super cool.
I had a go at a fake tilt-shift using Photoshop on a picture I took at Grand Central Station: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wyendrys/2559345658/s ... - andrespereyda, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8it's called "tilt-shift", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt-shift_miniature_ ... . ya, cool. :)
- JerodSlay, on 01/11/2009, -2/+9I love that song, but I can't buy it anywhere.
- deanosaur, on 01/11/2009, -4/+115D mark II!
- RansomHoldiay, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6at some points it's almost impossible to see it as anything but that
- JonTheGoose, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6You can make one out of a toilet bowl plunger.
No joke.
http://blog.dennisonbertram.com/hackmaster/2005/02 ... - GumGuts, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6Yeah, I can't figure out how to turn my video camera back into regular speed either...
- criterion100, on 01/11/2009, -2/+8Cool Song!
- jgopp, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Love tilt shift
- greg9683, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5It does not have to be a 5D MKII. It could be any DSLR with a tilt shift lens.
- GumGuts, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5That's soooorta the idea
- exquisitecorpse, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Wow, I certainly read that wrong.
- arizona01, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5you need a tilt shift lens
- PRlME, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Thats what she......no no she did not i was kidding -=\
- skjalff, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Where else would the north wind blow?..
- JeneeJ, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5Truly a great song for this video.
- deanosaur, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Normally at that wide a focal length, focused at infinity, your photo will have no depth of field blur.
With TS lenses, you change the focal plane and can selectively add depth of field blur. With such an extremely razor-thin DOF, it looks sorta like a macro shot with everything far away.
I think that's how the effect works. - andrespereyda, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4that thing looks tilt-shifted. that's what she said.
- Sangreal2007, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4that was high and i am awesome
- wondertwins, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4wow... these are awesome! everything looks so small and miniature. anyone know how to do tilt shift photography? a tut or a link to a lens would be much appreciated.
- bunk3rk1ng, on 01/11/2009, -4/+7The monster truck tilt shift video was a lot better.
- HayString, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Try using this: http://tiltshiftmaker.com/
- WYendrys, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3hmm, alright. thanks!
- vastness, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Yeah! ***** you, you ***** *****! I'm justified in way too emotionally overreacting you ***** *****.
Hey, Dronez (on and on and on) go have another espresso; you're still not too tightly wound. - mal1964, on 01/11/2009, -4/+7I wish my prostrate was that size.
- Takteek, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Is that the camera he used or you just really like the 5D Mark II? I couldn't find anything that said what he used. It's probably in a much too obvious location for me to find...
- helloyo, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3That's where I call home. This video reminds me to appreciate more.
- Fragalishus, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Just tried FlashGot for Firefox and FLVextract, seemed to work just dandy. Free ***** rules. Now find the artist and send them a dollar.
- maddla, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3BTW, the music is by Headless Heros. The song is called North Wind Blew South.
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=us ... - Virgule, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Maybe someone with iPhone + Shazam could hint us in...
- hypnosmurf, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Cool music downloading Headless Heroes right now
- cease, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Holy crap... Did anyone else watch this high? My mind has been blown away.
- WYendrys, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2I'm guessing you also need to be wearing SB dunks while taking a photo using a tilt-shift lens?
- PabloPowell, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2I am not really sure why there is such a fascination with tilt shift these days but the music and photography were very good.
- sockpuppets, on 01/11/2009, -2/+4It's not tilt shift, it's really small people. Have you ever seen Kevin Rose in person, full sized? No, because he's one of them too. Digg is run by them.
- gforce051, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Here's a tilt-shift example I made using Photoshop.
Original: http://www.ohranger.com/files/imagecache/parkphoto ...
Tilt-shift: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/6035/whhowhiteh ... - cowsgonemadd3, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2You can use after effects to do this effect also. It looks cheaper of course than the real lense.
- goldisalie, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Of course it looks fake, its Sydney! Sydney is the most fake place in Australia.
- vastness, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Now you've taken the trouble to call me "a special kind of idiot" and a "pathetic little dicksucker". Ask yourself: who is really going out of his way here? Me or you? Keep it coming, man. Clearly you are justified. You've been provoked by our stupidity, you genius you.
In the time you took to tell him to, and I quote,"Just ***** google it." you could have done anything more productive than make a person feel bad about themselves. It was the "*****" that showed the malice in your intentions. You didn't want to give him any advice on googling; you wanted that vicious satisfaction that comes from tearing into someone.
And what difference does it make anyway? You could have surfed away, but instead you chose to make Digg that hostile kind of place that doesn't invite open discourse. Golly, Dronez on and on and on, I'm sorry you have to deal with mere mortal dumbasses like the rest of us. It must be so frustrating for you to be a demigod. We deserve your bile. -
