- Schneckehaus, on 11/14/2007, -18/+204I don't see people on that list.

/(runs and hides) - jcardinal, on 11/13/2007, -6/+42Where the hell is ***** sapiens?
- daizaru, on 11/13/2007, -10/+39Humans should be #1, inaccurate.
- ashmael, on 11/13/2007, -3/+28Not sure why the truth is getting dugg down... the article isn't "The Top 5 Worst Invasive Species in the World excluding Humans"...
- HottisHiatus, on 11/13/2007, -1/+26What about plants?
- Goodbyeworld, on 11/13/2007, -0/+22Fire ants should be on this list. Not only do they destroy large areas of grass, they make them unusable. Especially in texas, where the ants are about nickel sized. They hurt like hell too.
- hambend, on 11/13/2007, -2/+21Agreed! I'd like to see rabbits stage a beach landing at Normandy. Now THAT was ***** invasive.
- yaryarhumphump, on 11/13/2007, -6/+22#1 = Humans
- Samsong, on 11/13/2007, -2/+18Uh oh, you told the Diggers your real name... That means you gonna get raped.
- carpespasm, on 11/13/2007, -2/+17as much as some people seem to get off on claiming that ron paul supporters spam anything and everything on the internet, right now there are at least three comments by people whining about ron paul spammers while there isn't any sight of a ron paul comment on this page.
chill out you guys. - Cyberen, on 11/13/2007, -4/+16Turns out it's man.
(dramatic music) - Goodbyeworld, on 11/13/2007, -4/+16does everything have to be political on digg?
good lord, i now can no longer go to environmental section without hearing that *****.
at least its not ron paul though - MuffinPatrol, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12I was half expecting this list to be set up just so they could put humans as #1 i am pleasantly suprised otherwise.
- pixelguru, on 11/13/2007, -0/+10Up until recently, I would have said AOL users, but we finally seem to be getting them under control.
- bpeacock22, on 11/13/2007, -0/+9Sorry but that wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be.
- carpespasm, on 11/13/2007, -0/+9kudzu vines are a pain in the ass.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kudzu#Invasive_specie ... - daEvan, on 11/13/2007, -0/+8Apparently its impossible to look at any comment thread anywhere on the internet without somebody making the article relevant to Bush bashing.
- pixelate, on 11/13/2007, -0/+7"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species..."
- billybob217, on 11/13/2007, -1/+8Just give it another 3-4 hours...
Ron Paul will be brought up somehow... - D3koy, on 11/13/2007, -2/+9Because "Bush" is a species....
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -2/+8And just how did humans *get* to be everywhere?
I forearm parry your wild F(l)ail, and deliver a swift riposte to the face - tmbrwolf19, on 11/13/2007, -0/+6There is a lot more to evolution then 'survival of the fittest.' Invasive species destabilize an ecosystem and can cause a complete collapse of the local ecosystem. Exotic species aren't any more 'fit' then the native ones in most cases, but occupy niches that aren't filled in the natural system. Evolution and adaptation is a competitive and slow process. An invasive species has no natural predators therefore nothing to keep their populations in check, which allows for their overconsumption of food or prey sources leading to a situation where there is no food left for natural or exotic species. There is no way a ecosystem can adapt quickly enough. The only real solution is prevention and very carefully executed methods of eradication.
- fantasticFlan, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5So far, all invasive species are natural to the planet.
- nickerbocker, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5http://duggmirror.com/environment/The_5_Worst_Inva ...
- MyBrandNewEyes, on 11/13/2007, -0/+5Probably because we've spread out from our native habitat and invaded ecosystems "***** everywhere" while displacing numerous native species in the process.
- evad12, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4So what you're saying humans moved these species and then they became a problem. So wouldn't we be the problem and not the species themselves. It's not their faults we jack up the environment.
- extratired, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4this should be called "The 5 Worst Invasive Species in Australia"
- akatherder, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5What about sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads?
- sonnybobiche, on 11/13/2007, -1/+5But if you hadn't said you were mexican, you better believe you'd be dugg WAY down. Most people won't laugh at a joke unless they know it's safe. This is a bad thing.
- ericthesalmon, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4Dugg for the last sentence.
"If you’ve ever read Bill Bryson’s excellent book on [Australia], you may remember a man who wanted to introduce monkeys into the country to amuse people." - thegoldenavatar, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4I logged on to say this. You beat me to it. So instead I logged on to digg this.
- bonkeykong, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3I was surprised to see so many mammals on this list.
- Zera, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4Don't expect Digg blogspam to actually have thoughtful scientific content. Instead of "The 5 Worst .............." the title of these Digg articles should be "The 5 Worst ....... I could think of"
I mean, remember the article with the 10 deadliest animals, Elephants were listed? Elephants are deadly to what? Grass? These blogspam lists are just dumbass articles to drive traffic, and lack entirely any sort of scientific reasoning. The sheer amount of blogspam on Digg I think will be it's demise. Digg is becoming the "what nonsense can I write that will get to the Digg front page" site.
Buried for ***** - jhuebel, on 11/13/2007, -2/+5Although I agree with your comment, the fact that they left out the obvious is a positive in my book.
- techmaster, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3It should've been a top 10 list, and along with fire ants, it should have killer bees, that fungus that is killing off bananas around the world, and that duckweed crap that is taking over pretty much every body of fresh water in the world.
- number5, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3where is Kudzu and fireants?
- necbone, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4***** site, is *****
- moskaudancer, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3If you have to explain it, it's a pretty ***** joke.
- freakk123, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3Seriously... It's time update Godwins law.
- swiecki, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4it looks like they forgot manbearpig...
- funktimus, on 11/13/2007, -1/+4Buried for not having humans or cats on the list.
- nickerbocker, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2scroll up.
- Akaricloud, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2God, you should come to Australia. 3 out of 5 of those listed on the list (Pigs, rabbits, cane toads) have ***** our agriculture up. Check out some of the fences built over time to keep the ***** out of our farming land:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit-proof_fence - daEvan, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Oh snap!
- chalkboy, on 11/13/2007, -3/+5Ron Paul 2008
- Amazetbm, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Funny how humans didn't make the list.
- Murdats, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2the ecosystem doesnt adapt, it collapses.
the new animal crushes all competitors, destroys food sources and eventually gets in too great a number with too little food so depending on the animal they turn to attacking townsfolk because they are bold and desperate or they die out themselves, then its having to wait several decades or so until the ecosystem finally maybe starts restoring itself. - thewump, on 11/13/2007, -0/+2Eloquently said.
- daEvan, on 11/12/2007, -0/+2the whiner to spammer ratio is too high!
