- Sybaek, on 10/30/2009, -0/+27Twice in 2 years! It's a shame. The San Francisco Bay is one of the most beautiful coastlines in California.
- cplusplus, on 10/30/2009, -3/+28Yet another reason to kick the oil habit.
- janinekahn, on 10/30/2009, -1/+21Not again!
- pacman122, on 10/30/2009, -1/+12I don't care how much they have to pay in damages. You can not take the damage done back. I think the company should have the right to transport dangerous chemicals be taken away.
- custangro, on 10/30/2009, -1/+12Which is another reason we should build more Nuclear Plants
- cheddaro, on 10/30/2009, -0/+10Maine, CA? Is that even a real place?
- sapphirecut, on 10/30/2009, -3/+12man, this just makes me sad as a native san franciscan. not cool at all.
- Fruit45, on 10/30/2009, -1/+9Out of all places, too.
Let's stop the oil. I bike much more now. - CharlesP2009, on 10/30/2009, -0/+6You've gotta look on the bright side, at least the oil companies have a new excuse to raise gas prices.
- MPKFA, on 10/30/2009, -2/+8You're a ***** idiot.
- SAc0balt, on 10/30/2009, -0/+5Not all of us live within biking distance of everything we require.
- inactive, on 10/30/2009, -1/+6Try reading the story it was 100 gallons. If that effects gas prices then you are living in another dimension occupied by Paris Hiltons
- mistergoomba, on 10/30/2009, -4/+8Sucks to be us in the Bay Area these days :/
- NSResponder, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3Unfortunately, it doesn't just stay on the surface. It disperses and gets eaten by various critters throughout the food chain. The crabs are scavengers, so pollution tends to concentrate in them.
-jcr - CharlesP2009, on 10/30/2009, -1/+4LOL, I know the estimate was said to be 100 gallons. Just kidding around. Or maybe I'm being so serious that I just blew your mind!
- cheddaro, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3If the oil stays on the surface, does that really harm the crabs that are on the bottom?
- Greengoo, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3DIE DORIFINSSSSSSSSSSS
- Krakerjax, on 10/30/2009, -1/+3Is it just me, or are we getting worse at this?
- inactive, on 10/30/2009, -0/+2Gotta pull the crabs up eventually I suppose.
- bemenaker, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1Wouldn't lighting the oil spill on fire and burning it off before it spreads out be the fastest and most complete way to clean it up?
- SAc0balt, on 10/31/2009, -0/+1We all have our reasons or circumstances, but regardless of what those might be, not all of us can cram ourselves into areas that are convenient for work, and not all of us can afford to just quit one job and take another for the sake of not using oil.
On top of all of that, oil isn't just the gasoline in your car. It's the plastic keys on your keyboard that you used to ask me this question, it's the insulation on the wires that carried your question to the Digg website, it's the rubber on the soles of your shoes, the synthetic materials in the clothing you're wearing, and so on and so on. Either directly or indirectly, oil is the key to America's industry and infrastructure.
Most people equate our oil consumption with the fuel in our cars. Even if every single automobile were electric, oil would still be required just to create the vehicles, not to mention everything else that gives us a great standard of living. It is completely unrealistic to do away with oil when our entire civilization relies on it for damn near EVERYTHING, not just gasoline.
Trust me, our nation isn't what it is today because Jesus loved us more, it's because we've had access to cheap oil and learned to refine it and use it and its byproducts for everything, from toothbrushes to tires to clothes to insulation to (etc etc etc). - centran, on 10/30/2009, -3/+4It was only 100 gallons. It's fuel. I would just light it on fire.
Problem solved. - AlaskanDad, on 11/02/2009, -0/+1The republicans are rushing to pass a bill to charge those animals for stealing their oil.
- Barackalypse, on 10/31/2009, -1/+2Awesome, free oil!
- volandiys, on 10/30/2009, -1/+2That's so soon and drown in their own waste. Pity the planet!
- exec0extreme, on 10/31/2009, -1/+1***** YOU DAWPHRIN!
- metacognologist, on 10/31/2009, -0/+0Japanese penis sooooo small...american penis SOOOO LARGE!!!
- lead2thehead, on 10/31/2009, -2/+2Maybe it will get rid of all the sea lions that have been loitering around the waterfront and sinking people's boats.
- lead2thehead, on 10/31/2009, -1/+1***** YOU WRALES!!!
- NSResponder, on 10/30/2009, -4/+4Damn it, there goes another crab season.
-jcr - Idonteven, on 10/30/2009, -1/+1Care for a slice of cake?
http://i.timeinc.net/recipes/i/recipes/sl/06/01/ch ... - Fruit45, on 10/31/2009, -1/+1If it's about work, have you considered moving closer to work? Or finding work closer to home? I know now isn't the best time because of the economy but what was stopped you before?
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 10/30/2009, -2/+1***** you! Two of my friends died las..
wat - matrobar, on 10/30/2009, -3/+2Great place to surf, cold, windy, incconsistant waves and oil, lots of oil.
epic - Bearigus77, on 10/30/2009, -5/+4This really sucks... This and the bridge closure. I was hoping to move down there soon... Maybe I'll hold off a little longer.
- vsujohn2, on 10/31/2009, -3/+2Take a joke bro. I have friends in SF, its a stupid stereotype that they are all hippies, and I made a stupid joke. Take that for what it is, calm down and smell your own farts or something.
- lolwatermelon, on 10/31/2009, -3/+1Oddly enough, there are 49 other states. Californians tend to forget that. Maine is the most beautiful part of this country, hands down.
- vsujohn2, on 10/30/2009, -10/+7Now all those hippies have something tangible to whine about.
- Benjigga, on 10/30/2009, -9/+4I don't care if I get dugg down but hey ... I'm sure glad Digg got this Coast Guard story to the front page and nothing about the 9 that died last night.
*****.
RIP Brothers :( - inactive, on 10/31/2009, -8/+1Glad it happened in People's Gaypublic of Drugafornia
- lolwatermelon, on 10/30/2009, -11/+1You've clearly never been to Maine.
- YagLana, on 10/30/2009, -19/+6At least all the hippies there will clean the animals up.

What is Digg?
