- Swarms, on 07/19/2009, -2/+16Another marketing ploy to get people with a guilty conscience to pay more for an inferior product.
- socivitus, on 07/18/2009, -0/+11I'm definitely worried about the "natural" label on my condoms.
- ThantiK, on 07/19/2009, -0/+9I love the ploy...
"We use less plastic in these 'green' containers, they're safer for the environment!"
...when they really mean...
"We used smaller containers, and increased the price because we're now 'green' and you idiots are probably gonna buy it!" - chooochooo, on 07/18/2009, -0/+7It is indeed confusing to me, I don't even know if they are telling the truth or not. How can we verify if they are telling the truth?
- socivitus, on 07/18/2009, -0/+7A: Melt them down, make a tire, and call it a Goodyear.
- B1665r, on 07/19/2009, -2/+7I dunno, the food that I get from Whole foods sure does taste a whole lot better than the plain old grocery. It does cost a whole lot more though.
- doublefelix, on 07/18/2009, -0/+5Q: What do you do with 365 used rubbers?
- CanadianRealist, on 07/19/2009, -0/+4Study finds companies use questionable eco-labeling to try and make their products look better.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 07/19/2009, -0/+4Study finds consumers are often confused by conflicting studies...
- NiftyG, on 07/19/2009, -1/+4Anything in a box, bag or can called "natural" or "organic" is usually just marketing scams
Fresh organic meats and vegetables are definitely worth the price difference, however. They taste a lot better and are probably better for you. Once you try grass fed beef, it's hard to go back to the feedlot stuff. - merky1, on 07/19/2009, -0/+3It's not that people have the time, probably more that people don't have the money to waste on a marketing term.
- Swarms, on 07/19/2009, -0/+3I was generalizing. Take a walk through any supermarket and take notice of how much "green" crap you see, when it's really just Bleach with a new label. Marketing execs know what they're doing.
- AnalogAssassin, on 07/19/2009, -1/+3I'm glad that some people have their lives so together that they actually have time and energy to worry about ***** like this.
- HTIZ, on 07/19/2009, -0/+2Why does a digg user need condoms?
- h4beba, on 07/19/2009, -0/+2Green is a color.
- TechnoRabbit, on 07/19/2009, -0/+2water balloons
- DirtyVicar, on 07/19/2009, -0/+2Consumers confused = industry: "it's all good!" + raking in profits
- areyouserial, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1To add to the confusion, Big Food pays off FDA to change definitions of words so you can't be sure that organic actually means organic.
- kaelyiesta, on 07/19/2009, -0/+1I know how! Get some guys that get paid by industry lobbies to 'regulate' those businesses by forcing them to tell you the truth.
/s
More seriously, to determine these things, just look at the laws these business sponsor, and who they pay to sponsor it. The recent Monsanto endorsed agriculture legislature is a good example of what I mean. A good rule of thumb is to just watch the actions of different food providers, they may say one thing but actions betray spoken lies. - butterflykissoo, on 08/17/2009, -0/+0The best thing to do would be to go to this site and become aware of the different labels out there! these icons and symbols will help you know whats really organic, sustainable, and post consumer.
http://www.greenbeings.com.au/tips/Eco-Labels.aspx - tomarocco, on 07/19/2009, -1/+1It's ALL all racket. Green, Organic, Recycling, Global Warming, Natural....do yourself a favor and move on. Life is much better when you realize that it doesn't matter.
- butterflykissoo, on 08/17/2009, -0/+0NO OFFENSE (to tomarocco) BUT are you stupid? it does matter! we are killing our planet! YOU DO KNOW THAT IN THE OCEAN WHERE THE CURRENTS MEET UP THERE IS 3.5M TONS OF PLASTIC JUST FLOATING AROUND! did you know that we need our ocean to produce 50% of our oxygen! it doesnt matter?! what a ***** joke! dont you look stupid! what we need to do is stop buying new ***** and reuse or recycle what we have..we need to take post consumer waste and make products out of that!
- 4AntiStupid, on 07/19/2009, -0/+0That's because it's primarily marketing and doesn't mean much of anything.
- footprints137, on 07/19/2009, -3/+0Studies show this is all crap, not any better than those not labeled "organic", "natural", etc.
