    Centralised energy systems aren't 75% efficient - but you don't get to see it becase so much is lost before it even gets to your house. Existing energy systems have fairly massive subsidies as well.

    Not exactly. Centralized energy systems depend on fuels that are the result of thousands of years of concentrated sunlight and geothermal. It's not that they're more efficient; they're just cheaper per watt than you can presently pull from solar over the lifespan of a cell - and that's a tragedy that must be repaired with new tech in solar.
