Seattle considers ban on styrofoam, and paper/plastic bags

enn.com — The city of Seattle is considering putting a ban on styrofoam products and putting a tax on paper and plastic bags. The proposal is expected to be approved, that means that a 20 cent fee will be added for every plastic or paper bag used during a checkout. So next time your in the Seattle area you had better think, paper or plastic or reusable?

They have a pretty good system here: everyone just brings their own "shopping bags" to the grocery store and they reuse them over and over again. They're much stronger than what the store gives you, they hold more, and they don't needlessly waste paper or plastic bags. I'm no environmental activist, but I'm all for anything that changes Americans' wasteful mentality.
