- MrColdheart, on 09/29/2008, -2/+43Don't worry i believe we have the technology to kill it for good this time.
/sarcasm - LeviTheSmith, on 09/30/2008, -1/+21Lets hope no one sets fire to it around 8pm tomorrow night ;)
- EmmaHarte, on 09/29/2008, -2/+19Life finds a way, when it can.
- DontPush, on 09/29/2008, -1/+15Its a shame you had to say you were being sacastic
- MrColdheart, on 09/29/2008, -3/+15I'm not THAT coldhearted
- NYCowboy, on 09/30/2008, -2/+12That is right by me. and they say using salt on the roads is bad for the environment.
- badnewshotel, on 09/30/2008, -1/+11Hmm... I thought man could ruin the Earth and kill all the plants and animals. How did we let this one get through?
- rwblackbird, on 09/30/2008, -0/+8This is really neat news! The title is a bit misleading, though -- it was extirpated (locally extinct) from upstate NY, not completely extinct. It's quite common on Canada's east coast.
- hydroplane, on 09/30/2008, -0/+7"Hurry up goldenrod, or you're going to be a permanent resident."
- HippyInASuit, on 09/30/2008, -1/+7Its a stinking weed guys. I can think of a different weed I would much rather see growing wild in my neighborhood.
- FlyingPhotog, on 09/30/2008, -1/+7Kill it while you can! That ***** weed thrives in Texas and it will give you allergies like none other.
- clickwir, on 09/30/2008, -2/+8I don't know.... that looks like a common weed around north eastern PA.
- SlpingInsomniac, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5How oddly specific.
¬_¬ - monofoto59, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5I live in upstate NY and goldenrod has been alll over the place for years. Is this a rare subspecies, or has this professor just now walked out of his college laboratory for the first time in decades? The article is unclear.
- beckerist, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5So it thrives in the same environment that eats at my car every winter? Cool!
- WilliamDavis, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5Pollution saves rare plant!
- speel, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5But can you smoke it?
- cotaskmemalloc, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Dugg only because I live in Syracuse :-)
- jakethelake, on 09/30/2008, -1/+5I'll be able to sleep at night again
- shutaro, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Kill it with fire!
- feliks2, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4No worries, we'll get it next time.
- ftotheill, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4"Seaside goldenrod is innocent of misplaced blame for causing allergies -- which are actually caused by the ragweed that blooms around the same time."
- Navicerts, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Predicting the future isn't easy.
- sychotoast, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3salty
- thevittegleos, on 09/30/2008, -1/+4yeah syracuse
- dblespresso, on 09/30/2008, -6/+9Environmentalist were wrong.... SHOCKING
- charbo17, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3Not to worry everyone... I drove by these plant earlier with my weed whacker and took care of the problem.
But wait... aww crap, it's not RARE/EXTINCT at all: http://www.gardenguides.com/plants/plant.asp?symbo ... "... The Seaside Goldenrod is easily found in nurseries, garden stores and other plant dealers and distributors...." The title of the article is so deceiving. It's a very common plant on the east coast of canada according to this: http://ontariowildflowers.com/main/species.php?id= ...
How is it that a plant goes "Extinct" but you can still buy it online? You can't buy the Dodo bird on ebay. I can't believe this even made it to the front page of digg. This should be on the front page of the Onion. Maybe I should create a digg article "Pole shows that people who visit digg believe everything they read"? - Navicerts, on 09/30/2008, -1/+4You don't suffer from allergies I guess - that ***** is terrible for allergies (and common in other areas).
Should have finished it off when it was weak! - ChristmasPoo, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3And to think I was using "Weed Be Gone" Wonder if I can get my money back.
- pantherxx, on 09/30/2008, -2/+5And here I go contributing to this nonsense...
This is news worthy? For *****'s sake it's a weed that grows all over the place! Who gives a ***** if they thought it was gone in UPSTATE New York.
Ok, now digg me down; I probably deserve it. - kellysharkz, on 09/29/2008, -5/+7Good news!
- graemee, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2Exactly, I looked at the picture and thought, it's what? I have it in the backyard.
- etx313, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2Tard FAIL!!!
- BradOFarrell, on 09/30/2008, -2/+4Who gives a *****.
- mllawso, on 09/30/2008, -2/+4How were the environmentalists wrong? And what does environmentalism have to do with this?
- GordonFree, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2"Visually spectacular"? More like, visually embarassing
- roddack, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2Plan B!

ya yuppies - inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1I completely agree. I live right outside of syracuse and it is most definitely all over the place. Maybe the Professor has been smoking too much weed?
- lornali, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1Hurray
- jgzman, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1When it can't, it takes a bit longer.
- costumemaker, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1seriously.. I know its rare and endangered or whatever, but if I saw that growing in my yard I would hit it with round-up. It looks like another weed to me.
- mllawso, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1Read the article.
- metfan630, on 09/30/2008, -2/+3dugg for the url "treehugger.com"

- leerayIG88, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1@Navicerts
