- vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+71The dog in the picture is a female bull terrier named Inca. The painful quill-ing took place on May 23, 2005. Inca survived

- redrock34, on 10/11/2007, -0/+44"Unlike needles, however, the quills of New World porcupines have microscopic, backwards-facing barbs on the tip that catch on the skin making them difficult to extract." Ouch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porcupine - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+50If only it had been 1337 spines =)
- aussieNickuss, on 10/11/2007, -6/+35Serves it right. When pit bulls have an idea in their head....theres no stopping them.
- nepawoods, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19"The painful quill-ing took place on May 23, 2005."
And the painful repetitive posting of it hasn't stopped since then. - McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17FTA:
"The vet sedated the dog and removed 1347 quills...the dog survived and hopefully learned a lesson." - cugar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17i see this one the front page like every 3 months and i have to say this everytime

2005 - ninti, on 10/11/2007, -5/+17That "poor puppy" is so vicious that it was determined to kill that innocent porcupine no matter the cost to itself. That's scary, and sad.
- nicnic77, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Anyone else jump straight to the photo of the girl with massive boobs? http://www.flickr.com/photos/10998060@N00/508220176/in/photostream/
- ivanisavich, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12More like...poor porcupine! That thing must have been bald once that dog was done with it!
- wepeel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9that's what she said
- hiPpymIck, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7sure it wasnt that new anti-rape device??
- loqqq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7For their next vacation, they're taking the dog to the Poconos.
- nickbarber, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6How the hell did it get the quills all over the head and body verses just the mouth where it would most likely attack from?
- Malarie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Damn, i would have lol'ed if the dog had 10 less needles in his face.
Porcupine: Hey Pit-bull!
Pit-Bull: Wha?
Procupine: I PWN U FACE! - arcooke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Not only is it old (which doesn't really matter), it has been on the front page before..
http://digg.com/general_sciences/OUCH_A_Dog_After_Its_Fight_With_a_Porcupine_Pics (1800 diggs) - parkermauney, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8Holy. *****. *****.
- wobitnobby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5...and as a former veterinary nurse who has helped to remove quills from several dogs, it doesn't have much to do with her breed. Dogs that get quilled are dogs that are exposed to porcupines. I have helped to take quills from labs, rotties, goldens, hounds... apparently they don't hurt much going in so the dogs go back for another slap of the tail, and that number of quills could have been embedded in about 4 tail slaps... 120 seconds? Only later does it start to get painful.
- Deguello, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Looks like someone reached the end of the internets....
Hi, Hello...Welcome to last year. - icepick314, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5also what i don't get is why did the dog got so many quills?
figure it would have stopped attacking and ran away after couple hundred...
are bull terrier THAT stubborn? - roastedbagel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Hey *****, it's a bull terrier, NOT a pitbull..Guess you missed that in the previous 25 comments that mentioned this fact.
- Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I love evolution!
- Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11Damn I'm happy to see an overly aggressive pit bull get what it deserves for once.
- EmailAddress, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4hmmm... "PWNT"
- woozie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Porcupines are not to be messed with. Apparently their quills can push in 3 centimeters a day and pierce vital organs.
- msafi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It is 1337, +10
- Godmil, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Oh gawd, I thought the 1347 was a gross exageration until I saw the pic :(
I wonder what was worse, getting them stuck in, or taking them out. Poor doggy. - schibs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Spuds MacKenzie was a Bull Terrier, which is not the same as a Pit Bull Terrier...
Pit Bull Terrier: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Pit_Bull_Terrier
Spuds MacKenzie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spuds_MacKenzie
Do research before trying to prove people wrong. - icepick314, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5old pic but still hurts to look at it...
and somewhere you have naked porcupine running around... - rodgy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It's the 2nd time this story is dug.
- 2point71, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2or this one, carried 1347 pointy sticks...
- krakkinem, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6only a ***** pit bull would be stupid enough to keep at it so long as to get that ***** up. Any normal dog (or animal) would be like "ow, that hurts!" ::run away::
- vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4well, this is the first time I've seen the pictures.
- gutistg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I want to know if the dog can still see, and what sort of damage was inflicted upon her eyes, but I can't find it.
Maybe the owners should take an after picture. - woodyear99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I saw a similar injury when I took my pups for their shots. The vet had the dog under anesthesia while he removed each one with pliers.
- znutz, on 10/11/2007, -14/+16I was more impressed by THIS in his photostream:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/10998060@N00/508220176/in/photostream/
didn't know they made them that big! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2He could have then called the porcupine a n00b.
- JayRD, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You ***** can turn anything into a political debate huh?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Somewhere there is a nude porcupine running loose.
- Gir53457, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2i has just a flesh woundz
- rhedrick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Porcupines are impressive. I can just hear it saying - "come get some". http://raysweb.net/wildlife/pages/12.html
- lintmonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Well once its face was gone, what other option did the dog really have other than to try and kill the porcupine by laying on it?
- Rell812, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I remember seeing this the last four times it was on Digg. And on Compfused. And if Compfused has something, you know it's already made its rounds.
- Amnesia10, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Not just that but African Porcupines wander around the savannah and even the lions leave them alone unless they are desperately hungry. That should give you a hint as to the defensive properties of the quills.
- schibs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I own a bull terrier. The answer is a resounding YES! I have watched mine stare down a groundhog hole for hours, waiting for the damn thing to come back up.
- shawgo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2exactly. naked and cold. I think the porcupine deserves some sympathy as well.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1agreed - i knew this English Bull Terrier
..its body was solid as a ***** Rock -
