- doublefelix, on 07/04/2009, -4/+57Oh No, It's Mr. Bill!
- tmyprod, on 07/05/2009, -0/+47Neither, it's a huge ass fish and a small pterodactyl.
- satman33, on 07/05/2009, -0/+42That's no loon. That's a space station.

- TheLotusEater, on 07/05/2009, -1/+18After reading the title I assumed this was about the TV news anchor woman who was crushing grapes with her feet and then fell on her face.
- ryanhayn, on 07/05/2009, -4/+21I can't tell if that's a small fish or a huge ass bird.

- TobiasParker, on 07/05/2009, -1/+9As a rational person, i see that there is no difference. Humans are animals, so the whole NHA argument is unfounded. It is the same as people who claim we should do nothing about global warming because it isn't caused by man. It does not matter if it is caused by man or not, it is still going to happen.
I have met my share of PETA's and they all share one thing. Basically a modern version of "white mans burden". Where they are the only thing keeping nature from collapsing on itself. When in reality, many animals have adapted to Human civilization. Rats, Cockroaches, Squirrels, pidgeons, raccoons, etc... all are doing *better* because of humanity.
From a group that would defend a "fly" because "all Animals should be treated the same", they certainly ignore these facts and instead plaster images of whales and mountain lions all over the place. - slashdotordigg, on 07/05/2009, -2/+9This will confuse PETA. They will now kill all the air-kittens to save sea-kittens!!
- SasquatchBill, on 07/05/2009, -3/+10Hooray! A Loon! As a native Minnesotan (currently transplanted to Australia) who thinks loons are really cool, it's cool to see our State Bird on the front page.
For those of you who don't know, you're looking at a Common Loon. They are excellent swimmers, to the point where their feet are further back on their bodies than a duck. It means they're not great on land, and take longer to get off the water during takeoff than their ducky brethren. I seem to remember hearing once that unless a lake has at least 125-50 meters of open water, they cannot take off! (My numbers may be wrong.) They
They migrate from Minnesota and other parts down to coastal regions, such as Florida, in the winter. The red eye is normal. Also, their calls are very distinct and sometimes described as eerie - and often can be heard as sound effects in movies, erroneously placing them in rainforests and other such 'exotic' locales. - Clark, on 07/05/2009, -3/+10Minnesota State Bird - Loon.
