- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2There are dramatic reductions in the world’s use of carbon dioxide by the end of the century there will be no more coral, no more shellfish, and no more plankton.
- DeskFlyer, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2They changed the url to the story, here's the new one:
http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2008/08/could ... - WriterSD, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2So... This link doesn't work. Here's the story this submission should be linking to, if anyone wants to read it:
http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2008/08/could ... - wrathchilde, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I'll Digg it, but there are far more authoritative (and accurate) sources for the claims it makes. For example:
NPR Q&A with marine ecologist about the rise of jellyfish in overfished areas, http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story ...
A more hard-core scientific look at ocean acidification, titled ""Impacts of Ocean Acidification on Coral Reefs and other Marine Calcifiers" note: it contains no references to increasing acidity causing heart attacks in halibut. I would love to see that reference. http://www.ucar.edu/communications/Final_acidifica ...
Glad to provide references to any one who wants to learn more about the ocean. - WriterSD, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2This is such an important story, I've re-submitted it with a link that leads to the actual article, so people on Digg who don't read the comments section here won't miss it.

My thanks and best regards...Casey Kazan. - stonewall123, on 08/21/2008, -1/+1Why is this doomsday crap? Think of it more like this. Your septic tank has just leaked all over your back yard and into the area your kids play. That's obviously a problem so you have the tank replaced and the yard set right. Do you then say awwww... its just crap, why should I do anything? No, you clean it up because its disgusting and you don't want to wallow in your own *****. The ocean is just like that and needs to be maintained accordingly. Does that make it easier for you to understand?
- citydragon, on 08/20/2008, -3/+1Enough of the doomsday crap.
