- Ghoztt, on 12/13/2008, -11/+223Thanks for the incredible low-res useless incredibly cool images, NG.
If any of you peeps who work at NG are reading this - tell your boss I buried you because you don't understand the interwebs. - Daiken, on 12/13/2008, -8/+102Sorry to go off topic, but damn insaincain02! I've been a regular Digg member for over 4 times as long as you have, and I've only dugg 3,600 stories (I try to digg frequently). In 8 months, you somehow managed almost 55,000 diggs, and over half your submissions make it to the front page. How do you do it?
- Dinsdale77, on 12/13/2008, -2/+71Really, no tribal breasts?
- ExRe, on 12/13/2008, -0/+64The volcano would be awesome if they had a larger resolution. :(

EDIT: Nice, may have found one.
http://home.comcast.net/~forum_image_host/chaiten. ... - booksnmore4you, on 12/13/2008, -13/+75Nice but useless due to low res.
- drgmdp, on 12/13/2008, -0/+55he chooses no-life
- nsanidy, on 12/13/2008, -11/+65#10 looks like her o-face.
- Itamae, on 12/13/2008, -1/+33#3 are Piranha Plants!
- jdpafundi, on 12/13/2008, -3/+33If the Chile volcano doesn't represent pure evil, than I don't know what does.
- madpainter, on 12/13/2008, -1/+28Before the internet (yes kids there was such a time) NG was my portal to the rest of the world. As a kid I was fascinated by the subject matter of the stories and the photos (even the low res here are still fascinating). I just hope National Geographic is one of the print based media that makes it on the internet.
- broncfan23, on 12/13/2008, -0/+25how does one kill which has no life?
- JonnyIsElectric, on 12/13/2008, -0/+23number 3

that made me a very sad boy - balloonenstein, on 12/13/2008, -0/+21100,000 Internet awesome-o points for whoever can get Hi-res versions of these...
- cubbiesx, on 12/13/2008, -6/+25Of course we all want hi-res versions of these photos, but these are the work and livelihoods of the photographers that took them. Not to mention their property...
You can't expect them to give away some of the best photos of the year that easily...Anyway I'm sure these can all be found somewhere in larger forms...just not on friggin national geographic's website. - Denominator88, on 12/13/2008, -0/+19I'm surprised boobies didn't make the list. National Geographic takes the best boob shots.
- smmakira, on 12/13/2008, -1/+16Screw a sea spider. Those things looks to much like a face hugger to me. I don't trust it.
- andrewlotta, on 12/13/2008, -2/+17That's about 229 articles submitted a day, give or take a few, stories dugg a day.
Maybe he spends all day on Digg, and scours the internet scooping up the best articles before anyone else has the chance to. - stopbrorape, on 12/13/2008, -0/+132008 was the year of the squid...
not tribal breasts - vinnyc, on 12/13/2008, -0/+11I buried both of you because you are n00bs.
- ctabone, on 12/13/2008, -0/+10More photos of that particular volcanic eruption + thunderstorm can be found here:

Submitted as a digg story about twenty days ago. They're absolutely incredible. - flapanthers87, on 12/14/2008, -0/+10**THOSE grammatical errors.....but who's nitpicking, right?
- mrgulabull, on 12/13/2008, -0/+9From the blurb, it says they singe the fur and sell them naked and intact. Sounds to me like it's still alive. :(
- Mustangarrett, on 12/13/2008, -1/+10Is it me or does three look like those things that attack like snakes in Super Mario 64 (and others)?
- hyperspaztik, on 12/13/2008, -9/+18I buried you because I am wondering how you passed third grade with the grammatical errors...
- Rockkybox, on 12/13/2008, -0/+9Where do I mail the money that I and everyone else should pay you for the best desktop photo ever?
- BossKey, on 12/13/2008, -0/+9The caption said the whale had never seen a human, but with the diver in that scuba suit, the whale still doesn't know what a human looks like!
- Aguyinachair, on 12/13/2008, -0/+9I don't know what to think about that.... it looks like it's still alive...and its head is just floating...
- simulastral, on 12/13/2008, -0/+8but useful as a treasure hunting map..
http://universoulproductions.wordpress.com/2008/05 ... - morcheeba, on 12/14/2008, -0/+7NOTE: This does not mean that Squid Implants are replacing Breast Implants.
- Xcel, on 12/13/2008, -2/+9Anybody have links to high-res versions of the pics? I love that mountain range in China! Absolutely stunning!
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+7A hi-rez of that photo with the whale and diver would be dope. It'd make my mother happy for the rest of the day.
- inactive, on 12/13/2008, -0/+5some mental pics.

- skeletorcares, on 12/13/2008, -1/+6461 x 307 pixels is the best national geographic can do on images now?
- Gotar, on 12/13/2008, -0/+5Thanks for finding that larger pic, that was my fav out of em all too.
- GDOG5, on 12/14/2008, -2/+7"The video--obtained by a Shell oil company ROV... sparked shocked reactions everywhere from the Digg link-sharing site to CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 (watch CNN clip)."

- fuzzybeard, on 12/13/2008, -1/+6Dugg for "Before the Internet." When I was a wee laddie, I remember going to my grandfather's house and digging (pun intended) through his pile of NG magazines.
Good times, man; *good* times! - BossKey, on 12/13/2008, -0/+5I thought of that, then I remembered that scene from the TV sitcom Happy Days, set in the 1950s, where Richie and friends check out the nude pygmies in National Geographic, and thought yeah, it's been over half a century.......old gag is old.
- patricks, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5na, it doesn't.
- tribius, on 12/13/2008, -0/+4Thanks!
Anyone else think the cloud kinda looks like an elephants head? - Ingulit, on 12/13/2008, -0/+4I was thinking the very same thing! This is awesome, thank you!
- cerulean86, on 12/14/2008, -0/+4Why are people digging down hasahugedig, I always wondered if the sword of a thousand truths from south park was real in WOW.
