Microwave Is Redirected to Kill Shipboard Pests

b4uexpress.com — Dorin Boldor, an assistant professor at Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, has another use for that modern marvel of the kitchen: fighting invasive species. He and his colleagues have developed a microwave system to continuously heat the ballast water in cargo ships to kill off alien algae or other organisms.
