See the comparison photo of corn fertilized with urine vs. the control group. The results are quite impressive.

The results speak for themselves. Urine is basically free concentrated fertilizer (needs to be diluted to at least a 1:3 ratio, 1:5 for regular use, 1:10 for seedlings—using it straight will burn the plant. In fact, straight urine is an effective herbicide against weeds), and is safe to use on all food crops as long as 1) the urine isn't from someone with a urinary tract infection and 2) isn't being used as a foliar spray on edible leaves. It has just enough nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorous. It's a shame we spend so much money on denitrification treatments of our sewage, only to spend more money on nitrogenous fertilizer synthesized out of petroleum distillates. If we would simply separate our urine and use it as fertilizer, our entire nation's agriculture could go organic, as far as fertilization goes. - inactive, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1This sounds both interesting and humorous.
