- mu0p, on 04/07/2009, -1/+173WHAT'S THAT, LET'S EAT IT.
- viol999, on 04/07/2009, -5/+156I've eaten this fish before. It tastes kinda like in between bald eagle and spotted owl.
- kent1146, on 04/07/2009, -8/+87I am 100% in support of this. If it's one of the world's rarest sharks, then you'd better eat as much of it as you can before it becomes extinct.
- fearlessfx, on 04/07/2009, -1/+68As someone who is half Chinese, I'd have to say that sentence sums up the Asian mentality about food quite well.
- SillyRabbits, on 04/07/2009, -3/+66It is a shame. But in fairness, they usually kill them in the process of 'catching'. I'm sure it wasn't identified until after it was dead.
- DoodleM, on 04/07/2009, -7/+63Given the choice been hunger and "environmental conservation" I think most people would eat it.
- Biird, on 04/07/2009, -5/+58The rarer it is, the tastier it is.
- thejumbo, on 04/07/2009, -2/+52I find that it has a hint of Cherokee Indian.
- moose26, on 04/07/2009, -4/+38In other news... worlds biggest Sea-Kitten is caught, butchered and sauteed in coconut milk. Apparently it was so finger lickin good that a few members of PETA were caught joining in on the meal.
- jason210, on 04/07/2009, -2/+33why did the world wrestling federation tell them not to eat it.
- EricAnderton, on 04/07/2009, -0/+29"Why eat shark when you can enjoy the beefy, spicy flavor of a SlimJim?" Said WWF Spokesperson Randy Savage.
- depro9, on 04/07/2009, -2/+30Lets bring back the dodo so we can EAT IT!
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+26Video of Megamouth shark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR0QT1Ek0MI - iamdan1, on 04/07/2009, -0/+25They failed to mention in the article a very important fact. Did it taste good?
- camaroz06, on 04/07/2009, -3/+26Most likely the shark was dead by the time they got it out of the net. Anyways they ate it so ***** what, it went to good use.
- kocurejd, on 04/07/2009, -3/+24Hell, given the choice between boredom and environmental conservation, I'd eat the thing wrapped in bacon.
- Coffeedemon, on 04/07/2009, -1/+21Save your outrage for those who take only the shark's fins and throw the poor thing in the ocean to die.
- Shreder1, on 04/07/2009, -2/+21That's one dumb ass shark.
- wolfing, on 04/07/2009, -4/+23I don't thinks sharks are thinking "hey, an Asian albino, that's a rare thing I better not eat it".
- minoss, on 04/07/2009, -8/+27Eating an animal isn't a shame.
- manicleek, on 04/07/2009, -0/+18You must try panda, delightful
- smack1700, on 04/07/2009, -13/+31I love how easy it is for those of us with full stomachs to cry "They should'nt have eaten it!"
You go hungry for a few weeks and tell me if you'd rather
A) Starve to death
B) Fry up that tasty fish in coconut milk. - BlueCadenza, on 04/07/2009, -5/+19Its not a shame. Its the local's territory, they don't have a lot of money and they need to eat. Species preservation is the last thing on your mind when your living off of nature.
I'm glad a lot of comments here and on the news site are being rational about this. If there was an undiscovered island of people who ate dodos as part of their diet we would have no right to tell them to stop eating just because we think that animal is cute and should be preserved.
BTW how are animal conservationists unable to find these sharks and yet natives are able to fish them and eat them with simple tools? - schadenfreude87, on 04/07/2009, -1/+15You eat pieces of ***** for breakfast?!
- jer21, on 04/07/2009, -0/+13The rarest of the shark species...the ass-shark.
- Wakkyweed, on 04/07/2009, -1/+14Cherokee hair makes the best tampons!
- whiledo, on 04/07/2009, -0/+13I love how easy it is for you to cry about this, when most of the comments are actually joking about the whole thing and not outraged at all.
- Cglass, on 04/07/2009, -0/+12i don't think you understand sarcasm;s role in internet humorability
- stanleyford, on 04/07/2009, -1/+13Filipinos, not "phillipinians" or "Philippians."
- hazard99, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12Hurray for ethnocentrism.
- MWeather, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12No, but I have it on good authority that even in the Philippines, rare creatures are less common than those that are not rare.
- roflmcwaffles, on 04/07/2009, -2/+13That's cute. You think it's inedible.
- chris4404, on 04/07/2009, -4/+15You figured that out did ya.
- BugMeNot2, on 04/07/2009, -1/+12That's one dumb ass-shark.
- TheNik, on 04/07/2009, -0/+10Wow, you are a huge douche.
- mouthbreether, on 04/07/2009, -1/+11Being rare only makes it a delicacy
- timla, on 04/07/2009, -2/+12I think it was very usefull, they used it for food. It was probably already dead. the only folks that got screwed were the scientist, let them catch thier own shark.
- jfield1, on 04/07/2009, -0/+10The WWF is fake.
- minorthreat, on 04/07/2009, -1/+10wouldn't bombing the Philippians also be destroying the genetic diversity?
- MrInfallible, on 04/07/2009, -5/+1499.9% of all species that have ever existed are now extinct. Something this rare has very little long term viability, there is just not the the gene pool available, so it's not the tradegy that the WWF would like us to believe.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -1/+10If they saved the inedible parts, like the head, it might still be somewhat useful.
- coolcole93, on 04/07/2009, -0/+9You suck as a person.
- Velnich, on 04/07/2009, -5/+14It is if it's one of the world rarest sharks.
- Wakkyweed, on 04/07/2009, -0/+9If they had perserved it or stored it on ice some university or museum would have paid them much more for it than it's value as a food item. They might as well have been eating a big pile of dollar bills.
- kgerm, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8i cant believe its not butter...
- athinnes, on 10/01/2009, -1/+8Knowledge < Hunger
- camaroz06, on 04/07/2009, -3/+10How is it disgusting? Anyways I think Filipino food rocks, Anthony Bourdain agrees too.
- alex7575, on 04/07/2009, -2/+9You haven't been banned yet?
- brokencode, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7Sharks are delicious.
- tomg025, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7why must you be so damn controversial?
