McCain urges free-market principles to reduce global warming
apnews.myway.com — In remarks prepared for delivery Monday at a Portland, Ore., wind turbine manufacturer, the presidential contender says expanded nuclear power must be considered to reduce carbon-fuel emissions. He also sets a goal that by 2050, the country will reduce carbon emissions to a level 60 percent below that emitted in 1990.

- chipsngravy, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1New nuclear power stations are a non-starter in the US, and McCain knows it. Banks won't dish out loans to build them and insurance companies won't touch them with a bargepole. The only way to build them is with billions upon billions of dollars of taxpayers money, and that isn't going to be forthcoming in the US which has a religious adeherence to so called "free-market" principles.
- bullcutter, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1The unspoken message here is that McCain has proven himself to do or say anything for votes.
