- mtcantor, on 04/18/2008, -6/+346***** quake just woke me up. Whole house was shaking. Not the sort of thing one expects in Saint Louis.
Oh well, back to sleep.- UncleHenry, on 04/18/2008, -0/+39Yeah, woke me up too, and I'm in Cincinnati. By the time I got up out of bed and turned the light on it was over though. I couldn't figure out why the hell it sounded like things were moving until I saw the article.
- Lyk4n, on 04/18/2008, -4/+11I woke up almost as soon as it started. I leaped from my bed to the door frame and told my girlfriend to get over there. She had a little more experience with earthquakes so she just walked over. It felt like it took forever to end.
- lester1024, on 04/18/2008, -1/+34wuss.......
- Sherman901, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5hahaha

Dude you are seriously one Pizza Delivery guy short of a decent chick porn. - antdude, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3Isn't that door frame not a good place to be under? I heard it doesn't work to avoid getting hit from earthquakes.
- TooEarly, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3I was in Evansville, about 40 miles away from the epicenter and I definitely slept through it. I was rather disappointed in myself. But I felt the second quake which was around 11am.
- Audacitor, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1@TooEarly
I'm in Waterloo, IL, didn't feel a thing. - floatingorb, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2It could help...It depends on the building. It's not good to run outside if there is falling glass from a hirise; Otherwise, it may help with search and recovery--"Here's a doorframe, and yep, here's a victim."
- Discobiscuits, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2***** or gtfo
- Godlike, on 04/18/2008, -12/+1I'm in cincinnati, I had a drink at like 2 am and went to bed and I didn't feel ***** at like 5am.
- kipmartin, on 04/18/2008, -0/+14like you are too hip, dude!
- Godlike, on 04/18/2008, -14/+2WTF? ***** off, whatever you think about me fine but eat an internet ***** tough guy cause nobody asked for your worthless opinion of me. Just because my comment isn't worded in a completely ambiguous way... ***** off all of you newfags.
- srgtTarantula, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5I'm not your guy buddy.
- gllopc, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5I'm not your buddy, guy.
- srgtTarantula, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3Aww c'mon now, you messed it up. You should of said " i'm not your buddy, friend" then someone could say "he's not your friend, guy" ∞
- spinxter, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2"...eat an internet ***** tough guy..." Wow. That will teach people to trifle with you. You're so bad ass you don't even need punctuation.
- angryredplanet, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1sorry, wrong comment
- kipmartin, on 04/18/2008, -0/+14like you are too hip, dude!
- num3thod, on 04/18/2008, -1/+7I bet WKRP was all over the story.
BTW, I'd hit Jennifer Marlowe's retro ass any day ;-)- gllopc, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3I'm sure Les is sure to win another Silver Sow for his coverage. Just stay the ***** out of his "office", though.

- jjhat1, on 04/18/2008, -1/+19I'm in Louisville KY and it jolted me awake, but before I could do anything it was already over.
- zachtib, on 04/18/2008, -0/+17Same here... I woke up thinking "Was that an earthquake?" But decided I must be crazy, and went back to sleep.
- michaelkirk, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5I live in Alabama and it woke me up at about 4:27 am. I couldn't believe the news this morning when I heard the epicenter was in Illinois. I have heard the eastern seaboard is mostly rock, so vibrations carry farther. Not like the west coast which is mostly sand or gravel, which localizes the earthquakes a little better in California, etc.
- zachtib, on 04/18/2008, -0/+17Same here... I woke up thinking "Was that an earthquake?" But decided I must be crazy, and went back to sleep.
- ziptnf, on 04/18/2008, -1/+13I'm in Louisville, it woke me up. I went downstairs and nobody came out of their rooms or anything. I assumed I was tripping so I went back to sleep.
- lester1024, on 04/18/2008, -0/+9I live in BFE, OH and I thought my wife was doing laundry at 5am.
- MikeSD34, on 04/18/2008, -1/+22Oh so she was slacking off instead? You've got to get them up early so they can make breakfast for everyone, as well as having clean clothes laid out for everyone when they wake up.
/sarcasm

- Draakan, on 04/18/2008, -0/+27I live in central Wisconsin and I thought it was wierd that I woke up at 4:40 am. Did not feel any shaking but was wondering why the heck I was up. Now I know.
- nekochan, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3madison, wi here. i slept through it. slept through the last midwest earthquake too. i guess it's harder to feel when you're not on the ground floor.
- gbarger, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1That's great, I did the same thing. I'm in Kansas City MO. I woke up at 4:40 with a light rumble, assumed it was lightning because it was storming all day yesterday. So, I looked at my watch and went back to sleep.
- staxofmax, on 04/18/2008, -8/+146I live in Seattle and I didn't feel a thing.
- ManOfVirtues, on 04/18/2008, -9/+32That's what she said.
- funkyjunk3, on 04/18/2008, -3/+11bad placement, bad placement

- XombieRobot, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6Yeah, wait till Mt. Rainier blows it's lid.

- mannyqui, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4sweet..... sweet comment.
- ManOfVirtues, on 04/18/2008, -9/+32That's what she said.
- ByrcheWroot, on 04/18/2008, -1/+14Earthquakes in Indiana are awesome. It's been a while since the last one. I thought it rather ironic, my boss was flying out to California this morning and we have a quake here at home. He had to wait for them to check the runways for cracks.
- funkyjunk3, on 04/18/2008, -3/+4Quakes are awesome? Son, where I live many people would think Tornadoes are awesome because they almost never happen here (West coast). I guess it's all in perspective, but I can tell you earthquakes are not awesome when they're Epic.
- ungajava, on 04/18/2008, -0/+13Son, being interested in science and nature doesn't mean you crave death and destruction, son.
- CiXeL, on 04/18/2008, -1/+4california is an extremely stable environment in just about every way short of the occasional earthquake. my brother is chewing at the bit to get out of there to find some adventure.
when i left socal in 2005 and moved to miami i had no idea how dysfunctional a society could be in the US. i was very excited about the prospect of finally being able to experience a hurricane though. which i did in 2005 with hurricane katrina (everyone forgets it hit us first) and hurricane wilma. katrina i got to experience the rain and flooding of various parts of the city, with wilma it was the incredibly destructive power of the wind. amazing stuff. the door was breathing in and out. fortunately i knew better when i moved out here and made sure to select a condo that would handle the task. - BridgeBurner, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2Don't call me son, buddy...
- JM13, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Don't call me buddy, pal...

- merr, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3I'm in Southeastern Michigan. People around here say they felt it, but I must have slept through it. I certainly heard about it from my friends back home in Indiana, though.
- hadak, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3Hey, me too. Ann Arbor, and I work in Detroit. This is the first I've heard of it - sure as hell didn't feel anything. I have a friend who was up all night...maybe he felt it.
- Paladin27, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5Kalamazoo, Michigan - I felt it and thought I was having a dream... but then saw the news this morning.
- GliTCH82, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I was just in Kalamazoo last Friday. I went up to South Bend, Indiana for my buddy's wedding, and we went bar hopping in Kalamazoo that night. Good times.
- f8pc, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2That's really weird, the beachers at my school are made in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I just looked at the plate on the beachers today too. Really weird.
- tomato3017, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1My co-worker at WMU said the same thing, I never felt it.
- newbis, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6I also live in St. Louis. I woke up at 4:30-ish and couldn't figure out what the hell was going on.
- McSwankypants, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6I thought I was having a muscle spasm until I was conscious enough to hear things rattling, but by then, it was pretty much over. Still an interesting experience for a native of St. Louis.
- McSwankypants, on 04/18/2008, -0/+10Woo! Just had an aftershock at 10:15 CST. This is just weird.
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4Yep. How far are you from the epicenter of the original? I'm about 30 minutes north of it. Our old building here was moving pretty good on this first big aftershock.
- McSwankypants, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3About 128 miles west according to the USGS (St. Louis).
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Wow. That one looks a tad bit more north on the map which would bring it closer to us. My buddy up in Chicago says he felt that one. But he slept through the original 5.2.
- disco5896, on 04/18/2008, -1/+0The aftershock was a 4.5.

- weeeezzll, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2It apparently was felt down here in Nashville, TN also, but I didn't notice it. Of course I was like 60 miles south of Nashville when it happened.
- AzraDarkness, on 04/18/2008, -16/+1Don't worry about it, was only AC/DC trying out their new song Shook me all day long...
- Godlike, on 04/18/2008, -5/+10YOU WIN NOT FUNNEH WARD! =>_
- sharpie05, on 04/18/2008, -0/+10...and you have won the "Go back to 4chan" award.

- kittnerrules, on 04/18/2008, -0/+36Was asked 4 times before I got to my desk: "What happened, your girlfriend fall off the bed?"
- ManOfVirtues, on 04/18/2008, -0/+26Well did she?
- Vvolf, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2And who was asking?
- wurtis16, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5i'd hit it
- BaconSquid, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3With an earthquake?
- drewtown, on 04/18/2008, -1/+6Definitely just sleep through it, I'm about 4 miles north of the loop. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper though, gonna take more than a pathetic 5.4 to wake me up.
- sharpie05, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2would a 7.9 do?
wasnt so bad really.- GliTCH82, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4The Richter scale isn't linear scale, which means that a 10.0 isn't twice as powerful 5.0, it's several orders of magnitude more powerful. According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter_magnitude_sca ...
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake has the same energy as a 1 megaton bomb, but an 8.0 magnitude earthquake has the same energy as a 1 gigaton bomb, or 1000 times more powerful. A 6.7 earthquake releases as much energy as a 5.6 megaton bomb, so you can see the difference in energy released between a 6.0 and a 6.7 is over 5 times as much.

- bemenaker, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2It woke me up in Cincinnati. Whole apartment was shaking. I actually heard it just before it hit, and felt it in my stomach. Was strange.
- buryyourhead, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5I'm in Columbia, MO and I wasn't awakened...
- apackofmonkeys, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I woke up about then in Kansas City. I didn't feel any earthquake, but college students outside my apartment were being strangely boisterous, and I thought it was weird since Thursday's not a party night here. They must've felt it.
- Ravenhaft, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I was just laying down, and felt it very, very gently here in Kansas City. It just felt like a little rocking, was pretty neat.
- CrudE, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Any night can be a party night when you're in college!
- cphelps, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Woke me up in Radcliff, KY about 40 miles south of Louisville.
- slvrbullet87, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I ive in central IL, I got woke up at about 4:45 and have to buy a new lamp. I am not happy with mother earth today
- nihilite, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5I would be happy to represent either you or Mother Nature in any legal action you decide to take.
- mannyqui, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Im in for mother earth on the defense.
- nihilite, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5I would be happy to represent either you or Mother Nature in any legal action you decide to take.
- NikoKun, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2Yeah I live in central (upper half) IL, couple hours from chicago... I woke up at 4:30 ish and was just lying there, when I thought there was a cat or something walking around on my bed for a few moments. That must have been the earthquake.
- LEPT0N, on 04/18/2008, -0/+9Did another one JUST HAPPEN or am I crazy?
- ihaterobots, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5yes! i'm in indiana, just felt it!!
- merr, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Just barely felt it here in Ann Arbor, too.

- jgtg32a, on 04/18/2008, -14/+15God doesn't like Obama.
Lets see how low this comment goes.- Protoss, on 04/18/2008, -2/+10I think most Digg users are just going to ignore you, being a God nut and all...
- jgtg32a, on 04/18/2008, -1/+7God nut hardly, just a lame attempt at trolling
Not really working either.- CiXeL, on 04/18/2008, -4/+3i have a coworker who is a huge bush/republican supporter.
at lunchtime he always tells me some new reason why obama "hates america" and why he would be a horrible president.
this guy thinks bush is the greatest president whos ever lived
i am starting something new. everytime he brings up obama i am going to donate $25 to his campaign. - soogy, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Instead, you could donate a penny to Obama's campaign every time he gets mentioned on Digg. You'd be out of money by the time I finish writing this comment.
- CiXeL, on 04/18/2008, -4/+3i have a coworker who is a huge bush/republican supporter.

- Trykt, on 04/18/2008, -0/+11You fail at failing.
- scooterbaga, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5Doesn't that mean he's succeeded?
- akoostik, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5No. It still means that he failed.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5No, that is NOT a double negative. It's just double failure.
- BSeffrood, on 04/18/2008, -3/+2and god hates you

- slotimus, on 04/18/2008, -2/+6Posting from Mars, we didn't feel it here.
- cbittle, on 04/18/2008, -0/+8And this whole time I just thought I had an exceptionally wet dream... Dugg for free vibrations
- brundlefly76, on 04/18/2008, -0/+16Check out the video of the live newscast when the quake hit:
http://www.stationstops.com/2008/04/18/illinois-ea ...- ligyron, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6New reporters always make me giggle at the way they handle unexpected events on live television
- po43292, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5I think that guy pissed himself on live TV.
- norcalscan, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1What the hell is a black zone fault line in Northern California? (I'm a geo geek in norcal and know nothing about this)
- AzzidReign, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1I'm in the STL region and woke up at 4:30 in the morning to the bed shaking...but by the time I sat up it was done. I figured I had been watching too many "A Haunting"'s on TV and thought my mind was playing a trick on me in thinking it was a ghost lol. Woke up later, turned on the news to hear we had a few earthquakes...well aftershocks too.
- LavosPhoenix, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2I'm in the St. Louis area and I didn't feel any of them, but I was also dead tired.
- CWal37, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I'm so disappointed that I slept through the first one and missed all the aftershocks. I'm in central Illinois too. The only possible benefit that may have come out of this is if my earthquake neutralizing super powers just manifested themselves.
- GliTCH82, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1If you guys think that's something, scroll down to the energy equivalents table on this wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter_magnitude_sca ...
You're right at a 1 megaton nuke, the 2004 Indian Ocean quake at 9.3 was probably closer to the 100 gigaton range. - cnot3, on 04/18/2008, -0/+11***** ***** woke me up in Champaign. I had passed out watching The Empire Strikes Back, so I awoke to my room shaking while the theme from Star Wars was playing on the DVD menu. It was pretty epic.
- RandaII, on 04/18/2008, -6/+1big ***** deal cali has 5.0 earthquakes all the time. get over it
- tcpip4lyfe, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3I bet if a tornado warning happened in your town you'd freak the ***** out. This is big deal for us.
- TwineHornet, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1You should know this---the buildings aren't build for earthquakes over there, so they're more destructive than in cali. I live in San Fran. Very different structures compared to the east.
- Syphon8, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1"HELLO EAST ST LOUISSSS" - Earthquake
The Earthquake could not be reached for further comment. - rentmitchum, on 04/18/2008, -2/+3That is IT. I am sick of these ***** quakes on my ***** plains!
- JM13, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Winner! Where would you like your 1000 internets sent?
- TwineHornet, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1Are there even fault lines in that state? None are indicated on the map, but they're in red all over cali. Do we not know where the fault lines are there or something?
- cfleap, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3The fault line is called The New Madrid "Mah-drid" --> http://www.greatdreams.com/madrid.htm
In 1812 The New Madrid fault popped off a 8.2. Felt in Washington D.C, and damn near level Saint Louis - TwineHornet, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1Thanks
- cfleap, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3The fault line is called The New Madrid "Mah-drid" --> http://www.greatdreams.com/madrid.htm
- sjl127, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1Too bad it wasn't 10.4, and right under san francisco, that city will be the demise of the USA.
- MtheoryX, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1In Indianapolis, Indiana, I'm pissed off that i didn't feel a damn thing. Didn't even wake me up.
- UncleHenry, on 04/18/2008, -0/+39Yeah, woke me up too, and I'm in Cincinnati. By the time I got up out of bed and turned the light on it was over though. I couldn't figure out why the hell it sounded like things were moving until I saw the article.
- Olfster, on 04/18/2008, -5/+49Being in Northern Illinois it was rather unsettling to feel my desk shaking. We don't usually get earthquakes here. Very Rare here. Woke up a lot of people.
- eddosa, on 04/18/2008, -0/+16I was wondering why i woke up next to my bed this morning. Now i know.
- porkdanish, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2You can report your experience here: http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/shake/STORE/X2008qza6/ ...
- thebaron2, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I hardly felt it in the Western burbs of Chicago (Elmhurst, Villa Park, Lombard area).
I only woke up because a poster frame kept hitting the wall and it woke my g/f up. I thought it was just some serious wind until I got up this morning and heard about it on the radio.- srgtTarantula, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I live in V.P, or i used to, i live in melrose park now, but i didn't feel a thing, just slept right threw it. Kinda disappointed.
- jacobmp92, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1Felt it in Ohio; we've never really had an earthquake that could be felt here. Was weird waking up to the house shaking.
- barnett25, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2Except in 1811....

- delmar14, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1I was tripping balls in Chicago so I thought I was hallucinating an earthquake until I woke up and heard about the real earthquake.
- FukUrCouch, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Welcome to how we feel in california... We are due for the big one! it's been 18 years since the last earthquake...
- JonInTheBox, on 04/18/2008, -4/+33In St. Charles, MO here, and woke me up. Scared the crap out of me!
- busby2, on 04/18/2008, -8/+2Represent St Charles! The home of some bowling alleys and a water tower. I slept through the quake as usual. I think this was my third one.

- dracostimpy, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1...and the worst ***** pizza in the galaxy. Jesus christ, I'm sickened at the mere thought of it. Ladies and gentlemen who love a good pizza, please make sure when you're in the greater St Louis area to ask the pizza place you're thinking of patronizing whether or not they use "Provel" cheese on their pizza.
If they say "yes", make sure to let out your best Jamie Lee Curtis-style bloodcurdling scream, then kick the waiter in the face reflexively like Ferris Bueller's sister, then hightail it outta there like the Road Runner on crack. Don't make me post a pic of Serious Cat to show you how serious I am, dude.
- Jereso, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1There's more people using Digg in St. Charles than I thought... 5. BTW After shock at SCHS on 10:15.

- RajDhillon, on 04/18/2008, -1/+39IT WAS HORRIBLE!
My car flipped upside down, there's a lightpole in my bedroom now. WTF AM I GONNA DO WITH A LIGHTPOLE IN MY BED ROOM.
There's a huge hole in front of my house and like 6 people fell in, now I have the responsibility of feeding them and taking care of them until the fire dept. gets here with a thousand and one foot ladder.
Seriously though, I live in Indianapolis and I could feel it myself. The dressers were shaking and *****.- sofaKing812, on 04/18/2008, -0/+30"WTF AM I GONNA DO WITH A LIGHTPOLE IN MY BED ROOM."
Get a stripper?- lester1024, on 04/18/2008, -2/+7***** brilliant mate!

[not an unusual event in illinois]
- RajDhillon, on 04/18/2008, -1/+39IT WAS HORRIBLE!
- twmsdude, on 04/18/2008, -6/+77Stupid quake woke me up as well. Scared the ***** out of me. Being an Indiana resident all my life, I have never felt anything like this. I thought we were being bombed when it was happening. It had to have lasted a good 30 seconds. Damn
- jesuswuzanalien, on 04/18/2008, -13/+4You live in Indiana? I had to drive through that ***** state once. Sucks for you.
- mwrl, on 04/18/2008, -0/+9Indiana isn't that bad at all. Just depends on the time of year. Drive thru in the fall and you will love it. Want a crappy state drive through Oklahoma.
- MtheoryX, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1You haven't traveled much, have you?
- mwrl, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3Where were you in 2002 when the last 5.0 quake hit the Midwest?
- twmsdude, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I don't believe i was in the state at the time. I live west of Indianapolis. This was the first time, that i can recall, that i've ever been affected by an earthquake.
- theneb29, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2I live in Indiana too and am fed up with everyone talking about the "quake"...WOW! I thought the people living above me were running around again, didnt give a ***** and slept right through it. ***** you "quake" for giving ppl something to bitch about, as if they dont have enough already.
- norcalscan, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1stop bitching
- nubnub, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I slept right through it here in Indiana. Everybody was talking about it thou.
- coheedcollapse, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5I went to sleep 30 minutes before the damn thing hit so I slept right through it. A bit pissed off though, I would've liked to feel that.
- BestJaxx, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4That's what she said. Sorry, it was to easy.
- MtheoryX, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2* too
- BestJaxx, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Why have I been screwing up obvious things like that for the past few months? I got buried several times for one comment simply for mistaking "know" for "no."
- MtheoryX, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2* too
- BestJaxx, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4That's what she said. Sorry, it was to easy.
- BestJaxx, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1First time for me to, but I'm going to be in Kobe, Japan for the next several months, so it will probably be followed by a few more. A pretty scary foreshadowing if you ask me.
- jesuswuzanalien, on 04/18/2008, -13/+4You live in Indiana? I had to drive through that ***** state once. Sucks for you.
- gamermasterman, on 04/18/2008, -3/+19Got woke up in southern Indiana. It scared me as I've never been in an earthquake before. I didn't even know what it was at first.
- MaskedSlacker, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3Get in the doorjam, stick your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye!
--Californian - Audacitor, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2I was a little way south east of St. Louis. Woke me up. I remember thinking, okay, the house is shaking. I can hear the china rattling around. Something's happening... ZzzzzZz
- TomTruelle, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3I love how everyone here who witnessed said earthquake all went on the internet to comment about it on digg.
- MaskedSlacker, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3Get in the doorjam, stick your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye!
- Vision77, on 04/18/2008, -73/+6(CHICAGO)I was on the phone talking to this hot chick when that damn quake hit....Me not knowing what the hell it was, damn near ran out of my old ass apt building like a lil bitch....good thing she noticed her house was shaking too....so I didn't loose all of my cool points.
- chanop, on 04/18/2008, -0/+63Come on now, your sister isn't that hot
- orangefly, on 04/18/2008, -0/+14no but she pronks a good pronk....
- chanop, on 04/18/2008, -16/+3+1 for theonion reference, although I'm sure anyone else will bury you

- orangefly, on 04/18/2008, -0/+14no but she pronks a good pronk....
- lester1024, on 04/18/2008, -1/+40Two reasons we know your lying.
1. You were talking on the phone at 4:50am
2. You were talking to a "hot chick"- fxu1989, on 04/18/2008, -0/+63. He was on digg at 6am.
- IronPwnage, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1I've been on digg at 6am lolz
- fxu1989, on 04/18/2008, -0/+63. He was on digg at 6am.
- EricAnderton, on 04/18/2008, -0/+243. "cool points"
- techweenie1, on 04/18/2008, -0/+11I live in Chicago and I didn't feel *****...slept right through it.
- halvertos, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6yeah i'm with you. that earthquake was a pussy
- sharpie05, on 04/18/2008, -4/+5You had cool points? I thought everybody else was keeping them from you...
Ill have to bring it up at the meeting. - baylorbear, on 04/18/2008, -0/+13Yeah good thing, because you just lost them all on digg with that comment.
- OnlyShawn, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5when you get to the real world, however, and use "loose" instead of "lose," things may not go so well for you.
- chanop, on 04/18/2008, -0/+63Come on now, your sister isn't that hot
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -3/+46I'm about 40 miles from the epicenter. It was a hell of a ride. We only felt about 15 seconds of it because we were sleeping and missed the first part. I couldn't believe how far reaching it was... Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, St. Louis, Chicago, and even Milwaukee.
We woke up and I told my wife that it must have been thunder. Then as I laid there I thought no way. That bitch shook too much and there was no other thunder, lightining, or storms. I got up and pulled up USGS and there it was. A big red box in South Eastern Illinois... 5.4. Pretty sweet.- Shelter22, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2It was crazy. I'm in Louisville, 150 miles from the epicenter, and it shook the hell out of my house.
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -1/+10Afthershock #1...
Well, that was the first big aftershock I felt. I'm in my classroom now. I teach computer class. I jumped up out of my chair. It shook this old building pretty damn good. I'll be interesting to see what that one clocked in at.- funkyjunk3, on 04/18/2008, -0/+28ight, is there going to be school today?
(note, I'm on the west coast so I had no clue this happened until I saw this article).- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6I just had one of my squirrely 4th grade students ask me that in the hall. I said no, no way at all. He said he hopes something bigger than 5.4 (yes, it's 5.2) hits so he can get out. I again said, umm, no.
- theneb29, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I felt the aftershock too, it was 4.5 in magnitude. I thought it was the people next door at work, slamming the door.
- sapphicbeats, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1yeah i felt that one too. was giggling like it was a rollercoaster.
- funkyjunk3, on 04/18/2008, -0/+28ight, is there going to be school today?
- nicejai, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I felt it here in Toronto at 5:40am. Shook me in my chair a little.
- Brad324, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1that was just your ass.
- jonnyboyca, on 04/18/2008, -1/+74Just look at the size of that blue box in the middle of the US map... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/
- txypteras, on 04/18/2008, -12/+0Looks so strange, standing out like that. Could it be something else like a nuke test?
- Harabeck, on 04/18/2008, -1/+11There is actually a falt there, the New Madrid fault that also runs further south from there. It has been inactive for a very long time.
- schnikies79, on 04/18/2008, -1/+9It didn't occur on the new madrid fault. it was on the wabash fault.
If you look at a good geologic map, the who ohio and wabash valley are full of small fault lines. All based on the new madrid fault, but not actually the same fault.
As the nuke thing, umm, no. - aposter, on 04/18/2008, -0/+7Sure. The U.S. Gov pops off 50 MT caps in populated areas all the time. I hate to burst your bubble, but earthquakes are much more energetic events than nuclear weapons.
- Harabeck, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4No kiddin, a nuke powerful enough to make a 5.2 earthquake would also leave a very huge crater...
- agentshiro, on 04/18/2008, -0/+0and lots of dead people...
- RooDoG, on 04/18/2008, -0/+27Earthquakes in the Midwest are uncommon, but they do happen from time to time. I would say every 10-15 years there will be one that can be felt, but they usually don't do much damage, if at all. The New Madrid fault is capable of producing 8+ magnitude quakes, but it may only ever happen once in 500+ years. The last major quake happened in the early 1800's. Scientists have actually been predicting around a 6.0 magnitude earthquake to occur by 2040 on this fault, so this could be it.
- yacks, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4you also fail to mention the fact that the last major quake there was about 8.0 and was part of a series of 3 that hit from 1811-1812 each measuring close to 8.0 and rung church bells in Boston/New York and changed direction of the Mississippi River
- sagat, on 04/18/2008, -1/+4Interesting map that, I knew earthquakes were common on the West coast but not that common
- FelixdaaHack, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1oh man we're going to get our California ass's handed to us some day
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1Yeah, but we'll be able to post "I'm in Southern California and this earthquake woke me up and I was like WTF?!"
- FelixdaaHack, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1oh man we're going to get our California ass's handed to us some day
- txypteras, on 04/18/2008, -12/+0Looks so strange, standing out like that. Could it be something else like a nuke test?
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -13/+1It's too bad the link to this story 404's.
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1Well, the link displayed a USGS 404 2 hours ago when I posted this... when the story had like 25 diggs. Must have hit the page at just the wrong time.
- po43292, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Better go to Californee to get your internets there. But watch out for the quakes.
- 8ight, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1Well, the link displayed a USGS 404 2 hours ago when I posted this... when the story had like 25 diggs. Must have hit the page at just the wrong time.
- bigburd88, on 04/18/2008, -6/+155Am I the only one that slept right through it?
- KartNinja, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6No sir, you are not. I did wake up but I never knew it was because of the quake until I woke up again three hours later to my family talking about it. My best friend did the same thing too. We both live ten minutes from Peoria, IL.
- slvrbullet87, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3Live in about the same area, somehow the roommate slept through it, dont know how i thought our ***** appartment was going to fall appart
- sw1ft, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2So you did or didn't sleep right through it?
- KartNinja, on 04/18/2008, -0/+0Slept through it but woke up right after it was over or right as it was ending and didn't notice it. However, there was a little aftershock about an hour ago. Kinda makes me wish I was awake for the actual one now, if only for the fact that it rarely happens and there was no danger whatsoever.
- Ndiggnation, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Heh, other locals here. I live in Peoria and woke up around that time too, but had no idea there was a quake. Just checked my kid and went back to sleep.. I was rather surprised when they were talking about it on the radio
- Vorin, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2i woke up to an e-mail from a higher-up in my school. i thought he was using earthquake as a metaphor to inspire preparation..
i was disappointed to sleep through the initial quake and the aftershock.

- Anfidurl, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Second that. I'm from Lexington as well, and slept right through it until my relatives from Versailles told me about it.
- puba, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4I slept through it as well. My entire staff woke up, but I spent quite a bit of time at the bar last night. I had no clue.
- chrisreynolds, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5My staff woke up too but it does that every morning.
- kylesykes, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3I didn't know until my roommates told me in the morning.
- justinjohnson, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3Yeah, I live in central Illinois and had no idea, my roommate told me and I didn't believe him
- Ryanr14, on 04/18/2008, -0/+0Ditto, I didn't know there was one until I got a facebook message from a friend in central Missouri asking me if I felt it because he did, and I am in Anderson, IN
- thunderbird, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I'm on the south side of Chicago, never felt a thing. Though there was a smaller one than this a few years ago that I do remember.
- Herkimer56, on 04/18/2008, -3/+2I'm in Southern Illinois and I slept through it, too. It must have been that second glass of wine last night.
- xyguy7, on 04/18/2008, -0/+0got a call from a friend who told me, I live in Southern Illinois. . .Wouldn't have found out though digg other wise!
- über, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4I live in Champaign and I missed it. I must say, I'm a little pissed that I slept right through the whole thing.
- Anditsonfire, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1I'm in Champaign too and I missed it. My housemates felt it though.
- beargrylls, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1Nope, I slept right through it too! Then again, I live no where near it...
- veter, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I only live 90 minutes away and I didn't even bat an eye.
- GohanGVO, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3I think I snored louder while it happened.
- x0epyon0x, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I'm in Normal, IL and my fiance woke up with it and asked me if I felt it. Apparently I just groaned and turned over.
- Bologner, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Freeport IL, didn't feel a thing.
- BigBrother87, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I didn't know until an aftershock at SIU around 10:30. I used to live in Bridgeport, about 20 miles away.

- JasonMath, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I slept through it too, and I didn't feel the aftershock that was apparently at around 10:15 AM. I live in Peoria, IL.
- groberts1980, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Slept through it in St. Louis, here (Soulard, to be specific).
- uiguy3, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Woke up to violent shaking in Champaign, IL. Many people woke up. Pretty scary for awhile.
- Derrelicte, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1Lakeview, Chicago, IL.

Funnily enough, both my friend and my boss who live about 3-4 blocks south of me, definitely did. - CarStan, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5Zittau, Germany, i slept well. Felt nothing
- Grandparob, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I missed everyone we've ever had because of sleep. Why can't it happen in the day.
- KJGJ, on 04/18/2008, -1/+0I'm in Geneva, IL and didn't feel a thing.
- mazonrowes777, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1From Stl, didnt feel it

- KartNinja, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6No sir, you are not. I did wake up but I never knew it was because of the quake until I woke up again three hours later to my family talking about it. My best friend did the same thing too. We both live ten minutes from Peoria, IL.
- musagha, on 04/18/2008, -17/+4Then Hillary said, Obama done it!
- john2kx, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5She might phrase it that way if she was a black woman.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/18/2008, -3/+9Then Rev. Wright said, "America deserved it! The chickens are coming home... to ROOST!"
- john2kx, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, i can't believe he said THE CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST. :O
wtf does that mean, by the way?
- john2kx, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, i can't believe he said THE CHICKENS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST. :O
- wmtrader, on 04/18/2008, -3/+3The "Obama Committee" has now moved on to any and all post that make it to the front page of Digg.

- RobertJoseph17, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Yeah Buffalo Grove here too, I was still driving home from a party in McHenry, so even if I did feel it, I probably wouldn't have noticed. Too much vodka.
- saikyan, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2A friend of mine lives in Hyde Park, he felt nothing... I'm in Glen Ellyn, I felt nothing... but another dude I spoke to from Crystal Lake (north of both of us) says it woke him up. Funny how that works...

- techweenie1, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I was out in Hinsdale, wasn't awakened by it.
- spacerobot, on 04/18/2008, -0/+7It woke me up here in Naperville. I must say, I was very confused when I woke up to my bed shaking. Sadly, Earthquakes are the only time that happens.
- blackpony, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1yea i could not feel any thing in Grayslake.
- mdoerr, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1gold coast, no feel
- asauterChicago, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1I felt it, although I had no clue what it was, until this article. I thought someone was knocking on my window outside at first, I was so confused (I'm on the 4th floor of a condo building). I woke up, all confused, went over to the window, looked outside, saw nothing and went back to sleep. It must of been a really small tremor, just enough to jostle the windows and frame of the building. But up until this article I was confused all morning on what that noise could of been.
- dehlz, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1nothing, south loop
- Jackar00, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Hyde park, most of my family felt it but not me.
- fierypoobag, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Woke us up, girlfriend and I told each other to stop shaking the bed, then realized the bookshelf was moving. The shelf banged against the wall for like 30 seconds. Just southwest of downtown.
- Filter, on 04/18/2008, -1/+136I thought my wife was shaking the bed and I went back to sleep. Last time I felt an earthquake I was 6 years old and living in California. Then I thought my dog was shaking the bed. I really need to learn to tell if it's an earthquake.
- bemenaker, on 04/18/2008, -0/+9I almost spit coffee on my screen at your post.

what, you're all thinking it...
- XxtraLarGe, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6I actually thought the same thing. I'm in Michigan, quite a ways away from the epicenter, but I felt a mild shaking. I thought it was my wife possibly shaking her leg in her sleep, or else the cat jumped in the bed. I told my wife later in the morning "I think we had an earthquake this morning" and she told me I was crazy. Later she saw the news and apologized to me :)
- docsavatchniya, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5maybe this?...if it feels like someone is shaking the bed, it may be an earthquake?... :-P
peace... - robfrench, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2That is awesome. When mine woke me up I told her it was the dog scratching or something up against the bed. I had only been asleep like 2 hours, and I didn't care if it was an earthquake or not.

- theneb29, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1dont be. sleeping through it is a good way for saying "***** you" to quakes. if it were strong enough, i'd feel the ceiling on my head and wake up (or not).

- mecharabbit, on 04/18/2008, -2/+9I live in southwest Michigan and I was half-awakened by the tremors. Convenient, since it happened about 2 minutes before my alarm was set to go off.
- stevetrojanman, on 04/18/2008, -5/+51Well...a 5.4 is a nice sized quake...nothing to get too panicked about. Prior to Connecticut, I lived in California for 25 years...plenty of 6's and 7's experienced there. A 5 will rattle your cage...a 7 will knock down the cage.
- staxofmax, on 04/18/2008, -0/+9I live in Seattle, and a 5.4 earthquake here is fairly pedestrian; good for about two hours of crappy call-in news coverage, but everyone forgets about it within a week. The 6.8 we had several years ago was something else though.
- Shelter22, on 04/18/2008, -1/+58It's such a big deal, because most people in the mid-west (myself included) have never experienced anything like this. Your post was good and this isn't directed at you, but I've already heard like 10 people today talk about how they lived in California and blah blah blah. Well, that's fine. Next time it snows out there don't make a big deal about it, it's just snow!
- endlessoul, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2Totally. I lived in Syracuse, NY a few years back and experienced a small earthquake on a quiet Sunday morning. No one was expecting it and some couldn't believe it was an earthquake. It's an odd feeling waking up to your house trembling.
Oh, and Syracuse is known for its snow. No big deal. ;) - dudefaceguyman, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6*Usually* earthquakes are a bit more dangerous then snow. While you sit inside and have a cup of hot chocolate complaining with your friends about how you're snowed in. People in california are freaking out during a 6.8+ quake and running around in terror as buildings fall over and windows shatter from the earthquake..
lol and where I live in northern California it snows every year, we still get some pretty good quakes from time to time, summers get up to 120F and we have to fight off wildfires daily. It's not uncommon for some californians to have to sit on their roof during one with a hose to keep their house from burning to the ground, and once the sacramento river flooded a few years back requiring us to lug heavy sandbags around our house.
California is a ***** pain in the ass state to live in depending on where you're located.- ErrorS, on 04/18/2008, -3/+3BS, I lived out west.. give me earthquakes over snow any day.
When you have to work and you have 2' of snow outside, 20mph winds with it being 10 below 0, snow is a lot more dangerous than a California earthquake. Or when things ice over? That's even worse. I will give you that a really bad earthquake is worse than a really bad snow.. - staxofmax, on 04/18/2008, -3/+3*****. They have these things called weather forecasts that tell you when it's going to snow or ice over, and how bad it's going to be. If it snows 2' and you choose to drive into work that's your issue. Have you ever heard of an earthquake forecast?
- Ryanr14, on 04/18/2008, -4/+1yeah, 1234567890...
- ErrorS, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1Lets compare the number of snow related deaths to earthquake deaths? How many people did you all lose in your last big earthquake? I know at least a dozen died during our last big winter storm.
It's not just driving to work, you lose power and you could freeze to death. Trees ice over and fall onto your house/vehicle/person, etc.
- ErrorS, on 04/18/2008, -3/+3BS, I lived out west.. give me earthquakes over snow any day.
- staxofmax, on 04/18/2008, -2/+2The difference is that snowfall can cause traffic accidents, hypothermia, among other health challenging conditions. A 5.4 earthquake doesn't hurt anybody or damage anything.
- oakj423, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3i just read an article that talked about why it's such a bigger deal in the midwest. lots more solid rock in the midwest for the quake to travel through. west coast has more soil to absorb the vibration
- MyExSucks, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I feel like the Midwest has an assload of soil, seeing as thats where the very large majority of all farming in our country takes place. I think what you may have read is that the tectonic plates in the midwest are structured in much larger solid pieces than those in the west, so the ones in the west, being smaller, are more apt to move.
- SpikeLee, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2An earthquake in the Midwest region would be a big deal. The area is due for another big quake and the infrastructure there is not at all suited for such an event.
- ElGigi, on 04/18/2008, -0/+7I live in Chile. In 1985 we have a 8.0 earthquake....i was 7 years old then, you just can't stand on your foot....although Chile is a country of big seismic activity, the quake left a great damage.
- CiXeL, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6when northridge happened in california in 1994 i was living with my parents and our house was in the middle of a remodel. there was no carpeting on the floors yet just the wood. when the northridge quake hit the first thing i remember was waking up to the sound of every car alarm in the neighborhood for blocks around us going off and then the vertical blinds on the window started shaking violently. i jumped out of bed and tried to run to the doorway but the direction i was facing was into the earthquake wave and i literally could not get a grip on the ground to run to the door-- the ground was literally slipping from under my feet like youd see in a cartoon. after realizing this i tried to run and slide to the door and cut my foot on a nail that was half-hammered into the boards but i did actually get to the doorway.
still its crazy that that sort of thing is possible.
- Sinestro, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1So. On the edge of a continental plate, such as in California, a given earthquake will actually feel weaker and be less destructive than the same size earthquake in the middle of a continental plate, like the middle of the country to the east coast (because the eastern edge is in the middle of the Atlantic).
This is because all the previous earthquakes have shattered the plate, making it more difficult for the waves to travel. - familynight, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2where did you live to experience plenty of 6's and 7's? the 1989 loma prieta quake was a 6.9. the northridge quake was a 6.7. i guess there are some places in california where quakes are more common, but 6's and 7's have not been common in my 26 years living in california (mostly san francisco), particularly 7's. a 5.4 quake with an epicenter close to you is a frightening experience and i have felt a number around that strength. i know there's a town somewhere in california that gets earthquakes all the time, but i forget its name. i can't imagine living there. earthquakes are neat and kind of fun when you're little, but there's always that possibility that your house is about to fall down around you. i don't blame anyone for being scared by a 5.4 quake.
- clownguyx, on 04/18/2008, -4/+2We felt it for about 10 seconds after it woke us up. I'm south of Indianapolis. It would have been kind of neat actually since nothing was damaged and nobody got hurt, but 5:30AM is a little early for me. Now my whole day is ruined because I couldn't get back to sleep.

He said that one day the tectonic plates are going to shift and we are going to experience the worst earthquake our Earth has ever suffered. He said it would be so bad that, buildings would fall, people would die, bridges would collapse. He made it seem like people in IL would all just die. I highly doubt that its true, but how bad do researchers truly estimate this "future monster" quake to be?

I'm sure you'd be talking about it, but to us it would seem stupid.
- weeeezzll, on 04/18/2008, -3/+1stop bragging...
- darkism, on 04/18/2008, -4/+6JAPAN IS SO AWESOME IT EVEN HAS BETTER EARTHQUAKES THAN AMERICA! KEKEKE KAWAII BAKA NEKO DESU

- Duncster, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Move.
- schnikies79, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5In Japan, buildings are built for earthquakes and the population is prepared. Here, we have a big one only every few hundred years so no one really knows what to do.
- cashman57, on 04/18/2008, -2/+4The first and only earthquake I felt was back in the early seventies. I was living at NAS Whidbey when a small quake marked the beginning of Mt. St. Helens waking up.
- bonjovisucks, on 04/18/2008, -2/+28I was having a dream, and in my dream my roommate yelled out to me that his dog was humping my bed, so I halfway woke up and noticed my bed shaking. I started kicking the end of the bed, yelling at him to stop. Then I realized the door was shut, and the dog wasn't even in my room. I thought it was just a really intense dream. Thanks Digg.
I live in West Tennessee, by the way.- jkb1212, on 04/18/2008, -2/+0haha, almost same for me. I live in west tennessee too and i was awake at the time eating some cereal Then the whole house started shaking and i was freaking the **** out. first earthquake i've ever felt. where at in west tennessee btw?

- joshld, on 04/18/2008, -17/+63Sorry guys, that was me. I farted...
- elevatedms, on 04/18/2008, -4/+1Definitely felt it in St. Louis...I was wondering why the dog chose yesterday of all days to pee in the house for the first time in 2 years. I'd just watched the "America's Game" episode on the 1989 49ers on NFL Network, it didn't help with all the quake footage right before I went to sleep.
- eth3l, on 04/18/2008, -2/+23Woke me up. I live in the 'Lou and spent 12 years in Ca. This was not like any kind of So Cal earthquake. Those "rol" like waves. This was violent shaking, like something was hitting our house. I love earthquakes - hate wild fires.
5.4 is pretty effing big for the mid-west where earthquakes like this *rarely* happen- walruspanzer, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4It's really nothing, The N.M. fault is very dangerous.
- rkthoadan, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3I'm in South Central Indiana and we had quite a bit of shaking for a good 20 seconds or so. It definitely woke us up.
- OriginalLucid1, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3West Central IL here....woke me up. Never felt an earthquake before.
- lenninct, on 04/18/2008, -9/+1here in Ga we did not fell anything!!!!!, sucks that the one we had i few years ago, i also slept thru it....next day at school everyone was like did u feel the earthquake...

- redbluemangle, on 04/18/2008, -7/+111We now suspect that Al Quaeda in Iraq has penetrated the earth core of liquid hot magma and is now testing an earth quake device. America needs to invade all countries located on or around any tectonic plates for freedom and security.

- Torx, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5We are well overdue for a major quake for us on the mighty mississip (Memphis)
- Ndiggnation, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2I remember them making a big deal about a possible big one in the Midwest, around '90 or so. Something about the fact that in the past there have been massive quakes here, bigger than anything out west and that it was going to happen again at some poin in the future. We got a few small quakes and everyone freaked the hell out..
- adamroach, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1In all fairness though, to people who rarely experience earthquakes, but sit on a fault line that was the source of the most devestating earthquakes in US history, a little freaking out is allowed.
- Ndiggnation, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I agree. As you can see upthread, I am from Peoria, IL.that kind of thing isn't normal here.
- Buelldozer, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2I read this whole thing and you're the first person to bring that up that I saw. The faul on the Ol' Miss can slip so hard that it will rattle the entire COUNTRY, all the way to Alaska. Last time it happened the Miss. river flowed backwards for an hour. It would make anything that's happened in CA in the past 75 years look like a child paying in a sandbox.

- mahdaeng, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1In the Rocky Mountain states too.
- darkciti2, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Yeah, we had one in Atlanta a few years back. I didn't even know the South East (North GA, Tennessee) was near a fault line.
- cfleap, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Almost 200 years since the 8.2. I hope your wrong, but somehow I know you are right:(

- RatGuy5, on 04/18/2008, -10/+35I'm from California living in Indiana temporarily. When I left my apartment this morning some guy asked me, "Did you feel the earthquake? The news said it was a 5.2!". I said, "I'm from California. I don't wake up for anything less than a 6 pointer." Then I punched him in the vagina for being a pussy.
- HomerJaySimpson, on 04/18/2008, -4/+3I have friends and family who refuse to come to California cause of the (not so frequent) earthquakes. They probably felt this one.... Ha, Ha!
Probably wouldn't even wake me up.- ggacid, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6I never understood why ppl are so afraid of earthquakes.. I'd much rather deal with a random earthquake every few years than have to worry about Tornadoes & Freezing winters every year!
- maxsunset, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1to be fair, we also have a bitch of a fire season.
