- badwithcomputer, on 09/15/2008, -10/+372Eric Cartman: Oh my God, it smells like ass out here.
Miss Stevens: All right, that does it. Eric Cartman, you respect other cultures this instant.
Eric Cartman: I wasn't saying anything about their culture, I was just saying their city smells like ass.
Miss Stevens: You may think that making fun of third-world countries is funny but let me...
Eric Cartman: I don't think it's funny. This place is overcrowded, smelly and poor. That's not funny, that sucks. - louiebaur, on 09/15/2008, -4/+320What was MTV thinking? They kicked inhabitants off the beach with hired police and did not think anyone would find out the destruction they left behind?
- MrWheezy, on 09/15/2008, -3/+274Reason #256844 to remove MTV from your channels...
- rayjitsu, on 09/15/2008, -6/+244People still watch MTV?
- KSUdesigner, on 09/15/2008, -22/+240If it was an uninhabited island, who are these "locals" that returned?
- sapphire9488, on 09/15/2008, -0/+132Damn, I didn't think MTV could sink any lower after Date My Mom went on air...
- AFelsinger, on 09/15/2008, -2/+132In the preview/commercial for the show (video is in the post), you can see contestants just tearing up the island searching for the gold. so dumb. do people really watch this stuff still?
- JedicodeWarrior, on 09/15/2008, -2/+89MTV: Mangle Trash and Vandalize
- Tezdoll, on 09/15/2008, -0/+79If only MTV played music videos... what a concept, I know!
- retawd, on 09/15/2008, -7/+82Mtv is still around? i thought it disappeared in the 90's. I guess I gotta watch more television to keep up on things.
- eSentrik, on 09/15/2008, -0/+73Apparently you missed the part where they said it was MTV.
- trekie1701, on 09/15/2008, -1/+72it did and was replaced with reality show central where pre-teen girls can watch tv to make themselves feel even worse about themselves.
- cygnus2112, on 09/15/2008, -4/+72Hollywood is one of the world's worst polluting industries, with the construction, sets, planes, and massive undertaking and resources that it takes just to make one simple production.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2006/nov/15/filmne ...
"A study by the University of California Los Angeles shows the film and television industry to be the second largest polluter in the Los Angeles area. Only the region's oil refineries pump more pollutants into the air, it says.
While Hollywood has a reputation for pumping out unregulated quantities of hot air, the research is the first to quantify the industry's emissions. The two-year study estimates that the industry emits 140,000 tonnes a year of ozone and diesel particulate emissions."
Once again, Hollywood shows itself as environmentalist (go green!) but not conservationist. ***** hypocrites.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_libertarianism - knuckles, on 09/15/2008, -0/+63The article says it *was* inhabited. The description above is wrong.
- revron999, on 09/15/2008, -4/+66MTV GET OFF THE AIR!
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 09/15/2008, -4/+53I weep for people who consistently watch M(oron)TV. What a pathetic, braindead channel it is.

http://www.treeclimbercoalition.org/TreeTalk/artic ... - inactive, on 09/15/2008, -1/+46Ah, Costa Rica...and btw, there's a huge spider on your back.
- stellamaris, on 09/15/2008, -0/+43I don't think Comcast would allow that. I'd love to just pay for the few channels I watch.
- pablo0713, on 09/15/2008, -1/+43I mourn for this country. MTV is a mirror of our culture. It is an image staring us right back in the face telling us something is deeply wrong in our society. Seriously, if you have a tween or a teenager in your home, sit them down and try to expand their minds. There is a bigger world out there. They need to stop living their lives through watching other people on television. Stop living their lives through other people's re-enactments of what is "supposed" to be fun or entertaining. Go out and make your own music. Your own fun. Your own art. Write your own book. Stop living thru television.
- DarkShroud, on 09/15/2008, -1/+37I guess they took that as a personal challenge.
- stellamaris, on 09/15/2008, -1/+37No. 12-year olds do, and they count as children.
- inactive, on 09/15/2008, -0/+34This is almost as bad as when lame dating shows became a staple of their network.
- Betrayal, on 09/15/2008, -1/+34***** MTV and their stupid reality tv-shows!
and ***** YOU VIACOM for destroying MTV! - dazparkour, on 09/15/2008, -0/+31No they didn't. Read the article.
- Buddhaismybuddy, on 09/15/2008, -0/+29WHO ARE YOU extremely vague, mildly approving, and completely pointless comment guy?
I MUST KNOW YOUR MOTIVATIONS.
What about this story is nice? Why do you like it? Do you like MTV? Do you like the destruction of the island? Do you like to tone of the author? Do you like turtles?
My head is going to explode.
WTF!??!? Seriously I can't take this *****!
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - chkdg8, on 09/15/2008, -0/+29Meanwhile, Sumner Redstone laughs while ad revenue keeps on rolling in, stock performs well and share holders remain happy. Sick.
- BenzoVodka, on 09/15/2008, -19/+47Umm... how do they kick inhabitants off an uninhabited island?
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -1/+28Obviously you didn't read the description
- ImAtHome, on 09/15/2008, -1/+27actually, i don't think that part was the island
the island has the treasure on it and the challenge is to sail there
the cast and crew are on the beach on the mainland for the most part - mxmj, on 09/15/2008, -0/+26First sentence of the article: "The television show, which premieres on September 17th, took over the neighboring, inhabited island in militant style by hiring the local police to prevent residents from accessing a public beach."
- eabearce, on 09/15/2008, -0/+25Screw MTV. Maybe if they didn't make so many shows and actually PLAY VIDEOS, this would have never happened!
- CressCrowbits, on 09/15/2008, -2/+26RTFA
- Thumper13, on 09/15/2008, -0/+23Mine started at least 10 years ago, if not longer, so yeah, I'm on board!
- davidjunit, on 09/15/2008, -0/+22This should be the phrase that at least one person posts in each article related to MTV and that comment should be dugg up tens of hundreds of times every time.
- gfh10h, on 09/15/2008, -0/+22Hey guys, look at all the prostitutes, look at all the prostitutes you guys!!
What are joo looking at maiyng? Yeah, why don't you take a peeecture!
OKAY! CLEEEECK! - Thumper13, on 09/15/2008, -3/+25You see youngster, that was something called sarcasm.
We old people like to do it a lot because it helps us deal with the fact that the generation or two behind us is full of complete retards like yourself.
You are the ones that will take care of us when we need diapers, and that make us sad. - rayjitsu, on 09/15/2008, -2/+23They still have the VMAs?
- Navicerts, on 09/15/2008, -0/+21Just git rid of the TV. I haven't owned a TV in over 6 years, couldn't be happier. You still have a computer and can watch TV shows that you choose to, but you don't have to shell out money to all the crap o' the world networks that make me want to vomit.
It's also a nice change to have a entertainment source that is not passive. - bicyclethief, on 09/15/2008, -1/+22"Music Television": what a ***** misnomer.
- bonshepherd, on 09/15/2008, -2/+22Thats it MTV boycott begins now
- kelmaster1, on 09/15/2008, -0/+20and make them into future stuck up bitches!
- bffoley, on 09/15/2008, -2/+22No, they knew people would find it. They also knew that nobody outside the islanders would give a *****.
- Rousterfar, on 09/15/2008, -4/+21People still watch MTV?
- Uzumaki82, on 09/15/2008, -1/+18Also reason #256844 other countries hate America
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -0/+16It's certainly not music.
- Jaablaze, on 09/15/2008, -0/+16I think a "pics or it didn't happen" is applicable here.
- K0NY, on 09/15/2008, -2/+18I hate Mtv as much as the next rational human being. However, this story is *****. Yeah, I'm sure they left a mess on the beach they used for filming. They also probably knocked down some palm trees to build their set. Calling that 'mowing down a rain forest' is sensationalist and inaccurate. The people at Mtv are far from the ideal when it comes to behavior of any kind, but they don't need this kind of alarmist reporting to worsen their image. It's already pretty bad as it is.
- kelmaster1, on 09/15/2008, -1/+17Isn't it great how companies can buy authority in foreign countries? Oh wait, they do that in the US, it just costs a lot more and nobody knows about it :P
