- d2002, on 02/21/2009, -0/+20It is appropriate that our BS economy is powered by trash.
- H3llr41s3r, on 02/21/2009, -1/+11By reading the title, for a second I thought that this was from The Onion.
- megawiz, on 02/21/2009, -1/+10filth powered by filth
- DOCNM, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4the editorials will continue to be powered from a sewage plant.
- Ultrace, on 02/21/2009, -0/+3Maybe it's changed since I lived and went to high school there (from '89 to '93), but that certainly wasn't the case then. Unless you happen to live in the vicinity, it looks like you're just spouting something based on never having heard of the place.
- Myztry, on 02/21/2009, -0/+3Then set up a power plant and feed into the power grid. Those who want an alternate energy tick just pay the premium associated and the money beyond distribution costs goes to the effective provider. No need to build duplicate infrastructure.
It's common practice is Australia. - benroy, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3In other news, the mayor of Chicopee, Massachusetts is desperate to draw attention to his podunk, backwoods town.
- datagod, on 02/21/2009, -2/+4I just took a dump...does that count?
- TimDigg, on 02/23/2009, -0/+2I love capitalism, I just hate capital markets and wall street, these guys don't make anything or contribute anything meaningful to society.
Not only that but these guys can pull the entire economy under. - inactive, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2You consider a city with 56,000 residents podunk? Have you ever been here, or are you just being ignorant?
- jaiden, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2I drive past this dump all the time and there is a 10+ foot flame coming out of that stack 24/7. I've always thought they should be doing something useful with it instead of burning it off.
However, there is a military base right next door and across the turnpike there is a huge chemical factory. It seems that one of those two places could easily use the gas directly (to fire a boiler for heat, or whatever) with the simple construction of a pipe, rather than building a new facility nearby to use electricity "locally."
Who would want to work next to a landfill anyway? This one stinks terribly in the summer. - Jordan117, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2All they've got to do is dump excess copies of the WSJ's op-ed section at the processing center. It'd be a perfect self-sustaining system.
- theskillwithin, on 02/21/2009, -1/+2in other words, liberals want to raise taxes while the leftists avoid them.
- Ultrace, on 02/21/2009, -0/+1I've lived there. He's certainly just being ignorant, even if he's been there.
- guywithabrain, on 02/21/2009, -0/+1If that's true I think I can power my house on a steady diet of bacon and chili.
- heystoopid, on 02/21/2009, -2/+3Knowing Murdoch's mob they also want to pay no rates or local taxes and be exempt from all planning and zoning control laws for a good measure and as well demand the State Governor pay for the cost of the new buildings as well too with exemption from all state taxes as icing on top.
In the long term they will never be a bargain , more of a burden like wearing an Albatross around ones neck , if truth be told . - inactive, on 02/21/2009, -2/+2Chicopee is a dump for massholes and illegal aliens.
- theskillwithin, on 02/21/2009, -4/+2I already knew the Wall Street Journal was full of (leftist) *****.
