You can't blame the rider...It looks like a nice day out until you' get sucked up in to a thermal updraft. - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -9/+18That's evolution, hard at work.

I know Kevin personally.
He is many things. Crazy? Sure. Reckless? You bet. Stupid? Not so much. He's quite intelligent, actually. His actions here, however, were blatantly dumb. I don't think many people would question the fact that there is no excuse for engaging in such a dangerous act during a tropical storm. But does that negate any compassion we should have for his condition now?
I can assure you that he has no interest in your sympathy and is well aware of the consequences of his actions. But I would hope people could at the very least offer empathy and RESPECT to his friends, families, and loved ones that are worried sick about him and hope he recovers soon.
Humanity fails me sometimes... - draculthemad, on 08/20/2008, -1/+5Letting go wouldnt be enough, its actually attached to a harness.
They usually have quick release mechanisms mandatory though.
Mentally challenged to be out there when a hurricane is about to hit landfall regardless. - noPCtoday, on 08/20/2008, -3/+7Funny you tried 6 different memes and spammed comments 6 times all ended up buried. and here it comes..... FAIL!
- PaulRay, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4Great! Now it's not funny anymore.
- selmer, on 08/19/2008, -12/+15And this year's Darwin Award goes to.....*drumroll*....
- rootnik, on 08/19/2008, -5/+8How could you not release the first time you slammed into the ground???
WTF was up with that guy in the suit watching him while he was getting treated? - toonworld, on 08/20/2008, -1/+4and I bet they've been nominated for a Darwin Award
- CuriousJohnson, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3The sand didn't hurt but the pavement did.

I hear people are being evacuated

nobody else is up there, man, maybe we should check the weather report!
nah, this is what its all about, man, trust me... It's amazing when you get up there. I do this all the time! - nrose101, on 08/19/2008, -4/+6Looks like he probably will. He is listed as critical.
- badtzmartin, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Wearing a harness...
- m0rd3c4i, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2i think we need to start teaching our kids about what hurricanes are. there is a small wind factor, i believe, to all of this.
- jhendrickson, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2That went through my head too lol
- Lust4Me, on 08/19/2008, -4/+6No quick release on these harnesses?
- Napiertt, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Beachfront?
- Rentro, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1A thin colorful streak is probably what that guy left on the wall.

- bat-21, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1WOAH!
- Domainut, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1The video is a little wet but still this guy is insane. Why would he, or any of the other 5+ kite surfers try this during a hurricane/tropical storm? http://specialreport.com/hurricane-fay-florida-kit ...
- cdelwood, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Are these things supposed to be unfunny? Is that what makes them funny?
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -1/+2Nice!
- CaptainChad, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1You're really going to need to explain this one...
- Rentro, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1No word on whether he got that cool adrenaline rush.
- mempko, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1When he hit the ground the first time is when he should have let go. "Hold on for dear life" does not apply here.
- amonthei, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Sorry, we have no interest in accuracy.
- stonezone, on 08/20/2008, -1/+2Haha, love that video. I showed up about an hour later. They guy who was lofted about 300' (eric) was fine, only a bruised rib.
How about TopHat, he never takes it off....
SZ - digitalhair, on 08/20/2008, -1/+2I think I saw Keanu Reeves on the beach with a set of handcuffs hanging from his wrist... strangely familiar...
