- roadnottaken, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1Ah, there it is!
Exciting concept. Elegant design with beautiful details; lots of nice lines and plenty of light. Elegant, that is, other than strongly resembling a ribbed condom in use.
"Negative pressure": enough to lift the roof? Probably not, but I'm curious (as are other commenters, apparently) to see what would happen with this building during a snow/ice storm How will the turbines be protected from the elements? How much noise will they create inside the building/down on the street/on the roof? I hope they test a scale model extensively in a wind tunnel before starting to build the real one.
Another thing to consider: a building this tall should really have a helipad for evacuation in case of emergency. Not sure where one might go/how it might work with the turbines given this design.
Overall, a beautiful design.

- kaitlynelissa, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0I do! Should be exciting to watch them build.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 03/22/2008, -8/+3not impressed america, Dubai is still whooping your ass
- PhilMoskowitz, on 03/22/2008, -4/+1America is pretty much done with impressing anyone. They have neither the brain trust nor the money.
- AndyGeary, on 03/22/2008, -0/+4No, it's just that we have finally decided we don't CARE what people think about us anymore. Whoever said we had to impress you anyway? We have a right to live our lives without worrying what you think about it, just as you do. The world is giving itself too much credit thinking that Americans should automatically give a rats ass what you think. Guess what? We don't. ***** off.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1i agree, people are too much of busybodies. but guess what, you probably believe your philosphy, but you probably still vote, you probably still give a rats ass about the US. if you dont then prove it. dont vote, dont waaste your time and life. because america doesnt care about you and your vote. YOUR vote wont matter. your single vote doesn't make a difference to America. so preach only if you can back it up. but yah u are right.

- amidtheblue, on 03/22/2008, -1/+4The concept and glass design will fit well into Chicago's skyline and all. But what's with Chicago (my home town) designing all these buildings that look like giant dildos? See also: Chicago Spire.

http://creativeclass.typepad.com/.shared/image.htm ... - synwolf, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2They're high-rise towers. The architects can't keep you from seeing everything as a phallic symbol if you're determined to do so.

- Yout, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2It looks like a cylon. I can dig that.
- tehxen3, on 03/22/2008, -4/+1It's probably overpriced and wastes money in the short and long-term.
- WickEd101, on 03/22/2008, -0/+3Only fits one person per mockup?
- moletimer, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2This looks like an awesome building. Should be amazing to see when it's built.
- WaltDismal, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2I suspect noise from the turbines will couple into the building through the frame. Chicago weather may cause problems too, will the turbine blades ice up? This could imbalance them and lead to noise and wear. They really should have tested the concept first through one winter, on a model.
- COlson87, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2I miss the old blocky style Chicago. This new stuff is stupid and not unique to Chicago.
