- dh22, on 10/22/2008, -0/+19Damian, Israel does not recognize Hamas because they are known to kidnap and use suicide bombers. It is listed as a terrorist organization by not only Israel, but the U.S., Canada, Japan and the European Union.
- ronsta, on 10/22/2008, -0/+18You're holding Israeli ex-IDF soldiers hostage in your apartment?
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -28/+47 Next time they cluster bomb a neighborhood they'll be biodegradable.
- robbh66, on 10/22/2008, -10/+26So when terrorist are elected to government, they're no longer terrorist?
- robbh66, on 10/22/2008, -18/+33Now if only the Palestinians could negotiate with words, instead of bombs, they might get somewhere.
- tekhna, on 10/22/2008, -37/+49Great. Now if only they could treat the Palestinians like human beings we'd be on to something.
- dh22, on 10/22/2008, -4/+16or they lost in wars they started.
- AbdullahAbuDawu, on 10/22/2008, -20/+32SAVE THE TREES! (but those Arabs beside the trees, they're expendable)
- romeboards, on 10/22/2008, -6/+18im guessing youve never been to israel. Take some history and geography lessons. Israel was filled with disease infested swamps before the zionists came. look it up. only until after they cleaned it up and built irrigation (of which there was none before they showed up), did the newly coined "Palestinians" show up and claim to want it. The zionists bought their land 100% and the historical contracts exist to prove it. Also, seeing as out 60% is pristine desert, id say theres still plenty left to appreciate.
Also, when has there ever been a country named Palestine? Who, praytell, are Palestinians? Israel was practically deserted (pun intended) when the zionists showed up. They legally bought this land you claim they are occupying from the remaining Turks who did not want to have anything to do with the land. - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -3/+14glad to know you guys have given up the "anti-zionist" charade.
- vault, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10lol...you are even more of a bigot than 911ArtStudent.
Yes, no Christian ever outsourced anything. It was all the Jews, who according to you, are actually not Jews anyway but Khazars masquerading as Jews right? And all the jobs were sent to Israel, not India. - lazyrussian, on 10/22/2008, -2/+13Here here dh22. Agreed.
- Tanktunker, on 10/22/2008, -4/+14So if we're pro-israel, we're not allowed to use digg?
- foopirata, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9flip them burgers, Erik, flip them burgers.
- romeboards, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10lied to me about what? Your argument is not historically supported in the least and any major historian would laugh at your feeble attempt to establish a "fair argument" in support of the Arabs living in Israel. Oh yeah, thats right, these people educated in the subject much more than you are just biased whatevers, promoting the "Jewish agenda". That'll be your next argument, right? I would think you'd be smart enough to see that people who do real studying of the subject matter are better qualified to state a consensus of what is historically factual than some small, insignificant child (you) posting vague interpretations of history on an online forum. Dont even bother replying.
- Chairboy, on 10/22/2008, -12/+22If I could submit a story about how the IDF has formally endorsed Barrack Obama and is a bunch of Ron Paul fans, I could probably create a singularity that would swallow the entire website into itself. Also, maybe mix in a 9/11 conspiracy.
This one... is almost there. - romeboards, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10what does make it true is personal accounts from actually BEING there. Theres aplenty of these document hanging around in museums, why don't you try there for a start.
- 1longtime, on 10/22/2008, -2/+12Wait, are you trying to tell me that Israel was almost destroyed by every neighboring country?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six-Day_War
...hey you're right! Actually, many times! Look, here's another war everyone forgot!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur_War
...awesome, a sneak attack on Israel during its holiest day of the year with the goal of complete extermination! Those are the kind of neighbors that throw GREAT parties. - ShimonDigg, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10About 5.3 million live in Israel, and 5.2 live in the US.
It's pretty close though. - foopirata, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9@erik: "your Jewish mama must be so proud of her keyboard IDF warrior." - indeed, she is. I remember how happy she was the day I got my beret. Thanks for caring!
I see you still haven't figured out the hilarity of your "Israel aka Occupied Palestine" mistake, eh ? Flip them burgers, flip them burgers. - BlueStarr, on 10/22/2008, -28/+37Care for the planet but not your fellow man....lol
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -7/+16Why don't all of the youtoob educated folks on here bitching about israel actually do something like boycott their products and exports
OH right, because then you wouldn't have any processors to run your computers so that you could bitch in the first place. - Typhoon2009, on 10/22/2008, -3/+12You mean nukes? Haven't used those in war for about 60 years chief. Depleted uranium shells are another story...
- 1longtime, on 10/22/2008, -3/+12"murdering and torturing Palestinian children"
Idiot. - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -2/+11Oh come on shimon, don't be silly, there just opposed to countries that "occupy" other nations.
Which is why we see articles ALL THE TIME on digg about the dozens of other countries doing/have done the same thing, right? right?
and that occasional "anti-zionist" who turns out to be an anti-semite. Well, they were never a TRUE scotsm--err, "anti-zionist" - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8So You Want to Boycott Israel?
http://digg.com/educational/So_You_Want_to_Boycott ... - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8@ erikfaccount75 - Not that it's gonna make a heck of a lot of difference, but:
Anti-Semitism was coined to specifically refer to Jews.
The following is almost verbatim from Wikipedia's entry for "Antisemitism" (Those who care to look into this further, will find omitted footnotes, terms from which the English has been translated and other information there.)
The term Semite refers broadly to speakers of a language group which includes both Arabs and Jews. However, the term antisemitism is specifically used in reference to attitudes held towards Jews. The word antisemitic (antisemitisch in German) was probably first used in 1860 by the Austrian Jewish scholar Moritz Steinschneider in the phrase "antisemitic prejudices." Steinschneider used this phrase to characterize Ernest Renan's ideas about how "Semitic races" were inferior to "Aryan races." These pseudo-scientific theories concerning race, civilization, and "progress" had become quite widespread in Europe in the second half of the 19th century, especially as Prussian nationalistic historian Heinrich von Treitschke did much to promote this form of racism. In Treitschke's writings Semitic was synonymous with Jewish, in contrast to its usage by Renan and others.
In 1873 German journalist Wilhelm Marr published a pamphlet "The Victory of the Jewish Spirit over the Germanic Spirit. Observed from a non-religious perspective" in which he used the word "Semitismus" interchangeably with the word "Judentum" to denote both "Jewry" (the Jews as a collective) and "jewishness" (the quality of being Jewish,or the Jewish spirit). Although he did not use the word "Antisemitismus" in the panphlet, the coining of the latter word followed naturally from the word "Semitismus", and indicated either opposition to the Jews as a people, or else oppositon to jewishness or the Jewish spirit, which he saw as infiltrating German culture. In his next pamphlet, "The Way to Victory of the Germanic Spirit over the Jewish Spirit", published in 1880, Marr developed his ideas further and coined the related German word Antisemitismus - antisemitism, derived from the word "Semitismus" that he had earlier used.
The pamphlet became very popular, and in the same year he founded the "League of Antisemites," the first German organization committed specifically to combatting the alleged threat to Germany and German culture posed by the Jews and their influence, and advocating their forced removal from the country.
So far as can be ascertained, the word was first widely printed in 1881, when Marr published "Zwanglose Antisemitische Hefte," and Wilhelm Scherer used the term "Antisemiten" in the January issue of "Neue Freie Presse". The related word semitism was coined around 1885. See also the coinage of the term "Palestinian" by Germans to refer to ethnic Jews, as distinct from the religion of Judaism. - ShimonDigg, on 10/22/2008, -6/+14How long does it take basement-dwelling antisemites to swarm to a Digg article about Israel.
"BUT WE"RE NOT ANTISEMITIC WE JUST HATE THE HISTORICAL HOMELAND OF THE JEWS AND THE PLACE WHERE THE MAJORITY OF JEWS LIVE"
The world may never know - monsieurginger, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7What if I do?
- bilbus, on 10/22/2008, -3/+11so the jews can' have a tiny strech of land in the middle east, where they can live free of muslim abuse?
I mean sheesh .. it does not even have any oil. - romeboards, on 10/22/2008, -7/+14any real basis for this statement or are you just shooting into the wind here?
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7There's a lot of unwarranted hate for such a small group of people.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+6If you want to boycott Israel, then see the video linked above for directions. (Good luck in your anti-zionlander endeavors.)
- robbh66, on 10/22/2008, -1/+8@tehbored
Explain. Oh, and Bush doesn't count. He's an epic douche bag but the worst he did before being elected president was terrorize the party scene. - Tanktunker, on 10/22/2008, -1/+7Goi and Tzon has the same root word?
- Mesmorize, on 10/22/2008, -1/+7I'm sure many of them would like to deck you.
- Ymeg, on 10/22/2008, -4/+9Indeed, Führer.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5That doesn't send out alerts to digg.com submissions. From my experience it is an annoyance that alerts you about articles that a certain Israeli digg user had posted usually a day earlier. Why don't you install the megaphone and find out for yourself?
- monsieurginger, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5It is correct. It's about 0.2% of the world population.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -4/+9Hey pintomp3, you're living in land that was forcefully taken from the dutch! ya better move if you don't want to be a hypocrite...
- kemp34, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5Did anyone else know that there were only an estimated 13.2 million Jewish folks in the world?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judaism
Is this figure wrong? For some reason, I grew up under the impression that there was a much larger number than this. I guess the area I grew up had a much larger relative population. - thecoolestguy, on 10/22/2008, -1/+6Aren't you tired of America giving billions to Israel and calling it a beacon of democracy while it builds colonies in occupied territories and violates dozens of tenets of international law?
Aren't you tired of Israel's 5th column having influence on the policies of America. Of course you're not. - milesdavis22, on 10/22/2008, -8/+12Are you an anti-Semite?
If not, why are you mirroring Nazi rhetoric? - Asianwaste, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3When they aren't deployed... technically yes.
- vault, on 10/22/2008, -7/+11Tell the Palestinians next time not to vote for a terrorist group to represent them. A group whose founding charter is sworn to Israel's destruction and who consider attacks on civilians fair game because of Israel's conscription.
The majority of Palestinians are opposed to peace talks anyway http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/19/world/middleeast ... and from that article, 84% supported the attack on Mercaz Harav which killed mostly teenagers. It amazes that people automatically assume the Palestinians are this innocent peace-loving folk who really want progress. - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -2/+6Dugg for justice.
"Satan supports Obama"
Comments= "This is the most important story ever. Send this to all your friends and family. The republicans are starting to see sense!"
"Satan always was a moderate" - monsieurginger, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4It takes years to convert to Judaism. And even if you do, other movements in Judaism might not recognize your conversion. Jews are of many races, but of the same ethnics group. A convert into Judaism does not only adopt their "God"(religious beliefs), but also adopts its people. Ex. Ruth.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -27/+31You know the world is a ***** place when an oppressor treats the environment better than the people it is oppressing.
Where do I turn in my humanities card? I dont want to be a member anymore - vault, on 10/22/2008, -4/+8"Where do I turn in my humanities card? I dont want to be a member anymore"
