It formed on the morning of August 25, about 260 miles (420 km) southeast of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and rapidly strengthened into a tropical storm that afternoon and into a hurricane early on August 26.

  • MarkLaymon, on 08/31/2008, -0/+1I live in the Palm Beach area and we have been getting hit with rain for two days from the outer bands. Concerned that many will not leave the area before the core of the storm makes land fall.
