- BrandonJM, on 09/30/2009, -0/+7I've been told monarchs also come from the New Jersey Pine Barrens and hate Dr. Venture.

They were everywhere.
I haven't seen a Monarch butterfly in at least 10 years. <:-( - Chairboy, on 10/01/2009, -1/+6#include <venture_bros_joke.h>

http://www.monarchbutterfly.org/ - crackerjack20, on 10/01/2009, -0/+2I collected 8 monarch larvae (caterpillars) from nearby milkweed plants a few weeks ago, let them form chrysalises on milkweed stems in my garage, then watched them hatch out, fill their wings, and then took them outside to fly away. It was a great educational experience for my kids, and it was really fun to see the whole process. And for what it's worth, many of the monarchs in the eastern US will be spending the winter in Florida instead of Mexico.

Executioner: Give me the Hand of Osiris!
Dr. Venture: Give me head.
Executioner: You didn't just say that.
Dr. Venture: I absolutely did, what are you gonna do about it?
Executioner: I'm about to kill your sons.
Dr. Venture: Join the club. - Asvetic, on 10/01/2009, -0/+2Dr. Venture: [after being attacked by a green creature in Brock's car] What the hell was that?
Brock Samson: Chupacabra. They're all over Mexico. - cajungal, on 10/01/2009, -0/+2I can't imagine the splendor of a flock of Monarch butterflies. But we may be in the path for at least some of them because as I go for walks everyday after lunch and the road I walk on is rarely traveled and there are so many butterflies that fly back and forth across my path and sometimes they fly around and around me, it almost feels as if they are playing tag! And this is every day while I am walking. It is so refreshing after being cooped up in an office all morning to go down this road and watch the birds and butterflies; it is as though God is whispering His love for us through the joy and beauty of His creation. The delicate intricacies of their beautiful, colorful wings never cease to amaze me. When I get back to the office I am always refreshed.

Don Draper would be proud - DolphinBlueInc, on 10/01/2009, -0/+1Im a bit worried. Painting butterfly attenaes black - won't that impair them for life? Interesting study though. This could tell us much more about other animals and even, the environment.
- these3remain, on 10/01/2009, -2/+3One of the many wonderful blessings of living along the coast of SC is watching the migration of these butterflies every year as you walk along the beach in the morning. This time of year, as I walk along and enjoy God's creation, monarch butterflies in pairs or "flocks" fly at eye-level in their migration; it's truly wondrous to behold ~ I suspect they are on their way to FL , but hey, maybe they are going to Mexico. I just enjoy the sight - absolutely beautiful.
- MrFisty, on 10/01/2009, -0/+1Nice hat.
- no2gates, on 10/01/2009, -1/+1They follow the smell of the Tamales.
- Nyaasee, on 10/01/2009, -1/+1i studied monarchs briefly in college Bio and some of the things i remember are that the Monarch migration begins in a section of mountains in mexico, they migrate north reproducing and dying along the way and during their stay. When it's time to head back to Mexico, it's not the original Monarchs that return yet they know the way somehow.
So when are we going to paint scientists eyeballs black and see if they can navigate a chemistry lab? - Barackalypse, on 10/01/2009, -2/+2Interesting, but I have a compass in my nose:
