"I just picked up this fantastic Prius that gets 50mpg. What are YOU doing to help mother Earth?"
"I ate a god damned peanut butter & jelly sandwich" - Chompy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30If you've got a peanut allergy, eating a PBJ results in anaphylactic shock, suffocation, and death. Think of all the energy you save by being dead!
- theworldisflat, on 10/10/2007, -6/+30It's peanut butter jelly time!
- dtele, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24interesting
" Eating a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich instead of a grilled cheese or chicken sandwich saves 2.5 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. That’s almost half of what you’d save if you switched to a Hybrid car. "
LMAO - GGzah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15FTA: “The fat and calorie content are pretty much the same whether you grind your own or buy commercial peanut butter."
Who grinds their own peanut butter? - mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Hippies.
- mc88, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I feel sorry for people with peanut allergies. Peanut butter is sooooo delicious.
I second the motion for "peanut butter jelly time". - cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Peanut Butter companies?
- Whackly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7you are missing out, sir. though I'm sure you have delicacy's that I should try I cannot recommend heartily enough that you get a crate full of Extra Crunchy Jiff headed Argentina way ASAP.
- BigManOnCampus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8So goober eaters will inherit the Earth??
- mnx12, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Fact: A vegan driving a Hummer is better for the environment than a meat eater riding a bicycle.
- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Grinding peanut butter...? Perverts.
- mnx12, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You can go to health food stores and they have machines that you turn on and it makes fresh peanut butter right there
- Twister47, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Just rocked one of those bad boys for lunch.
- DoctorDiamond, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Don't blame peanuts for irresponsible farming practices. Crop rotation with clover or other plants can help restore the soil.
- Jaster13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It can't help wordpress suck any less.
- elementop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I tried it once, but then I couldn't make any more coffee until I bought a new coffee grinder. :(
- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4But according to Wordpress fanatics, it's a superior CMS system where one can wield CSS skillz like mad. I think that's a step up from being able to modify MySpace profiles on your own.
- footodors, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4fresh peanut butter is awesome
- MaTT2011, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Peanut Butter is a miracle food, it needs to get the credit it deserves!
The best way to wake up in the morning is to have some peanut butter toast with a nice big glass of orange juice or coffee.....so tasty yet so good for you! - aguynamedben, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9pb+honey > pb+jelly
- JLecker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Really? I thought peanuts (and other legumes) put nitrogen back into the soil through fixation. That's what I learned in Environmental Science, anyways.
"Legume plants are noteworthy for their ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen, an accomplishment attributable to a symbiotic relationship with certain bacteria known as rhizobia found in root nodules of these plants. The ability to form this symbiosis reduces fertilizer costs for farmers and gardeners who grow legumes, and means that legumes can be used in a crop rotation to replenish soil that has been depleted of nitrogen." --Wikipedia's article on legumes - Almightymole, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Don't worry, you still can do for your thing to help the world other than eating a Peanut and Jam sandwich.
- realyst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2She's not my type. I heard she has a bit of a bloat problem, too.
- fernandojohann, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4we don't have peanut butter in Argentina. Nobody here seems to be interested in it either. We have a lot of cows and eat a lot of meat. But I would have to agree with the article, peanut butter could make things much more simplier.
- CanoeBuilder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I wonder who told you that? Peanut butter isn't unhealthy, some brands add trans-fat though, don't eat that.
I've never thought soy tasted very good unless it was cultured, like miso or tofu, not to mention I've read lots about it being detrimental to your health, there's stuff all over the net about it even books on amazon. I'm not 100% sure about the accuracy of this. Though, I'm pretty sure the people behind the promotion of soy as a 'health food' are the big soy producers of the US. Not to mention the Amazonian rainforest is being clearcut to plant soy, so not so good for the health of the planet. - CanoeBuilder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Well dems da breaks kid. So why don't you patronize organic peanut butter companies? Which is far and away a better choice than increasing your intake of factory farmed animal products?
But, good point, a lot of revision is needed across the entire food producing system. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Crunchy FTW.
- signal15, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7I eat a 1 pound jar every week (the organic stuff, not the trans fat major brands), since I was about 14. So that means I've eaten around 800 pounds of peanut butter, not including what I ate when I was little.
I just saved like 3 planets. - redled, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Units don't add up in the comparisons.
"Eating a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich instead of a grilled cheese or chicken sandwich saves 2.5 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. That’s almost half of what you’d save if you switched to a Hybrid car."
Like switching to a hybrid car for one day? One year?
"I bet you didn’t realize that eating three Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches could have the same environmental impact as switching your showers to a low-flow shower head."
Like using a low-flow shower head for one day? A month? - ninjaface, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9***** WORDPRESS ALREADY!!!!!
- Static30, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wow. I've been saving the planet every day while my wife is destroying it. I eat P&J almost every day for lunch. I love Peanut Butter!!!!!!111 Especially with chocolate chips.

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1 As do I.
Try it on kosher dills or sliced apple....Make a peanut butter sauce for chicken...It's all good.
I like Smuckers cause it has so sugar in it and o prefer pb without sugar. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Eat Smuckers..No sugar in it...And i was not paid to say that.
- answer42, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Don't bring THAT back...
- sillygoat76, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You can make nut butters from most different types of nuts. You just grind them up in a blender with vegetable/nut oil. It's really that simple.
