proquo.com — As time progresses, more people are questioning the effectiveness of traditional means of marketing. You've heard the pitch before - the power in the consumer-brand relationship has shifted towards the consumer. But what does that really mean?

- gazgolter, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8Great article, totally agree. Let's all get digital!
- Bukowsky, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Interesting post. I think that this just falls into the same line as any other form of marketing. It's all about spreading a message, and I think that people are generally starting to realize that Global Warming can (and probably will) become a major problem for us down the line....
If more people were too just recycle their aluminum & plastic... that alone, would help make a difference. But, alot of people just aren't educated on why recycling and reusing can be very beneficial, which is where the Online Marketing aspect comes into play. - jaybol, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7i throw away so much damn mail every single day...they should save the money on the mailers and just send them to my junk email
- bixby1, on 07/10/2008, -0/+728 billion gallons of water to recycle junk. that can't be good.
- MrBelding, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6Glad to see we have a direct hand in saving the environment while sitting on our ass and digging. I also reduced my junk mail by opting out of the advertising services. This is a good one that worked for me https://www.optoutprescreen.com
- rjc5056, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1thank goodness for gmail's one-click "delete all spam"
- Bluebonic, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Yes it has my friend.
- Bluebonic, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Online marketing has also played a big role in the awareness of environmental issues which in the end led to major changes and assistance. Let's list a few: (any ideas?)

- Bureau9, on 07/11/2008, -0/+3Dugg for great justice.
- mjtint, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0I still don't believe in global warming.. but I like this article.
- upick, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Well I suppose that online marketing can reach a large audience instantly however it will not solve global warming... Because there are more people who are not online that will not receive the message...
Unless you use online marketing with viral marketing to get the online people to spread the word...
But point taken, it can help... so Dugg for that!
=) - BuzzDiggity, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2Some of those statistics are really just mind boggling. 100 million trees are killed each year through the paper that's used to make junk mail. How is that even possible? And who likes junk mail anyway? I mean, aside from Victoria's Secret catalogues... I'd pay for those...
- psogle, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Great piece. but what about all of the computers that you have to throw away, you better recycle that macbook pro buddy
- stilesja, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1I'd like to think all the trees to make this junk comes from managed farms which grow and replant, but we all know that isn't the case for all of it. While online marketing is the way to as the article says the Ad industry is very entrenched in its old ways. Why now allow industrial hemp, a quickly renewing resource to be grown to make this paper and all its other uses.
- LordPalador, on 07/11/2008, -0/+0I don't believe in global warming, but wasting water, trees, and gas is horrible.
