- crazyjake, on 05/30/2008, -1/+39what we need is all the world's top musicians to put on huge concerts all over the world to raise awareness for this problem!!
/sarcasm - Pillage, on 05/31/2008, -3/+33First the world is to cold, then it's to hot and now it's to noisy: I've figured it out the Earth is going through menopause.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -0/+13In Seattle the Orca whale population of Puget Sound has been on the decline for some years now. Many are now proposing that it's caused by US Naval Sonar.
- whoreable, on 05/31/2008, -0/+10Here's a new way to be green.... STFU!
- Owwmykneecap, on 05/31/2008, -1/+8You killed a man, you should go into hiding until this blows over.
- ats314, on 05/31/2008, -0/+7oh there's no question sonar affects whales. The state of Hawaii petitioned the White House to stop submarine drills near the Hawaii islands because the whales were behaving oddly, beaching themselves and such. The White House refused.
- WiseWeasel, on 05/31/2008, -0/+7Animals should learn to use Digg to communicate; another problem solved by technology.
- bdav87, on 05/31/2008, -0/+7Rock and Roll ain't noise pollution!
- DeskFlyer, on 05/30/2008, -6/+12Buried for complaining about MrBabyMan.
- ligyron, on 05/30/2008, -7/+13Perhaps you should actually look at his profile and see that he does a lot more digging and favoriting other people's stories than he does submitting his own
I've only seen him re-submit stories that he has dugg and favorited, and after several days, failed to make the frontpage. Besides, it's just a random link to a site on the Internet--not like it's copyrighted intellectual property belonging to the user that he's stealing to make a profit. Relax
If you want your stories to get noticed, start making some friends. This is a social site. Being a jackass isn't going to help you make friends. According to your profile, you have never even tried submitting any stories of your own, so what are you so upset about? - norman619, on 05/31/2008, -0/+6You're like an idiot babbling on and on about nothing.
- acegi, on 05/31/2008, -0/+5***** the earth. it's been on to us trying to wipe us out with this whole 'natural selection' dealio.
it's about time we got them back some! *raises confederate flag* - badboys213, on 05/31/2008, -3/+8I didn't know Wired hired Chicken Little.
- Ozzsanity, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4Have you seen/heard the bird that mimics the sound of a chainsaw? After loggers moved in for the trees, this bird after time began to make a sound almost exactly like the chainsaws that are cutting down it's home.
Flush it away! - norman619, on 05/31/2008, -1/+5Ah yes now we have to stop making sounds. WTF is wrong with you people? Sounds like more "Let's gripe about the evil humans" than anything we need to take seriously. For *****'s sake these people will not be happy until mankind goes back to its hunter gatherer roots and shuns modern life.
- codyman, on 05/31/2008, -5/+9but the enviroworryists already have me sitting naked in a field making hemp rope and eating plants that i've organically grown, all while traveling via foot (horseback = animal cruelty) but now I ALSO have to be quiet? how can I communicate with nature now?
- elambing, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4but i cant hear all my machines in the wilderness with all that animal noise ***** going on
- norman619, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4Yes exactly! Feed The World and Live Aid got rid of hunger world wide right? Right..? ;-P
- KaJuN4, on 05/31/2008, -1/+5If this leads to the banning of stupidly loud Harley Davidsons that you can hear from three miles away then I'm all for it.
- Blankcheque, on 05/31/2008, -9/+13Jesus Christ.
Everybody whisper!
We're disturbing nature because we're inconsiderate ass holes and impugne the dignity of the noble tit mouse.
Get over yourselves with this ecology crap. Animals stay away from things they don't like.
If they don't like lots of noise they either adapt to it, or move to ground that isn't as disruptive to their enviornment.
"Won't you think of the defenseless animals!" You're probably proclaiming.
No, because if you want to change things, then instead of expanding outwards, expand upwards, and encourage your government to think of building green, solar powered sky rises. Encourage the government to build up nuclear reactors that release less toxins in the air that poison our lakes and rivers, and air we breath.
Encourage healthy forests, by having park rangers remove burned and charred wood which is worth small fortunes in the amounts that they have accumulated, and encourage these trees to grow by growing responsibly.
I'm sick of the ecological hypocrits who can't think of anything green other then the ways with which we impact our society, yet offer no solutions to it. - inactive, on 05/31/2008, -1/+5First they wanted us to be poor, thin, cold, living in huts, riding bikes, dressed in rags. That is now not enough. This Eco-Nazi wants us to be mute as well. I think I'll go turn on my leaf blower.
- gettophilosophr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4For every $100 you pay me, I will be completely silent for an hour.
I call it "Noise Credits". For an extra $50 an hour, I'll also breathe into a bag so as to contain my carbon dioxide outtake. I call those "Noisy Carbon Credits".
Send checks now! - Rubab, on 05/30/2008, -7/+10This isn't just a matter of aesthetics. The contamination of biophony may soon become a serious environmental issue... we need to pay attention to the modes we are effecting earth environment..
- DeskFlyer, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3Well, you suck at it.
- MrBabyMan, on 05/30/2008, -8/+11What ego? You talk about me 10X more than I ever have. I should hire you as P.R. I think the real problem is you seem to have some sort of weird man-crush on me. Unless you're a girl, I haven't checked.
- offspring06, on 05/31/2008, -1/+4Yes and it is called Human Beings.
- Owwmykneecap, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3would monkeys on digg find photos of other monkeys to be cool like we do?
- had3l, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MwOWH1bMJM
- tracywood, on 05/31/2008, -1/+4We effect the earth much less than we think.
- GJBlizzard, on 05/31/2008, -1/+3These people will never be happy because they don't want to be. They need something to complain about because they think it shows that they care and are making a change.
- SkittlesUSA, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2Well then, how about in addition to a world-wide carbon tax, we implement a world-wide speaking tax?
Carbon offsets and sounds offsets. The pathetic thing is if this "issue" were pushed enough and maybe Al Gore made a documentary without a few inaccurate facts you idiots would probably support sound offsets.
And you call Republicans fear mongers. - Blankcheque, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2Ahhh, the smell of internet sarcasm.
Are you going to contribute? Or just continue to have sand in your vagina about all the ways humans are "***** up" planet earth. - zadadka, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2The cacophony wood pigeons make wreaks havoc with my early mornings...if they can cut back on that, I'll stop shouting at them.
A bit of give and take and everyone's happy. - inactive, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2I agree, self loathing has replaced sin.
Nationalistic self loathing is even worse.
They've some how twisted it to the point where if you love your country you are somehow less educated and have a low IQ. - stillasleep00, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2Remember the Live Earth benefit concert for pollution awareness? Yeah, about that...
- expatcatalyst, on 05/31/2008, -1/+3Is this the introduction of "Global Screaching"? I bet those Polar Bears can't stand all the noise......Al, Al, can you hear me now? How do you get noise credits?
- cvxdes1, on 05/31/2008, -3/+5Dugg for burying for complaining about submitting by MrBabyMan
- dew209, on 05/31/2008, -1/+3Internet is serious business!
- waveringhobbit, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2That's why I'm trying to move back to the country, which is still useless because unless I'm going to move to another planet, I could bail from all the noises on Earth.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1There are some frogs in the lake behind my house that make a lot of noise.
Before IPODS there were boom boxes, Id say we are evolving just fine. - Nubli, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1My $1400 sound system in my car won't listen to itself.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -5/+6Buried for MrBabySpam.
- ZetaEta, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1If your ears are ringing, you (and not just some random animals you obviously don't give a ***** about) are a victim of noise pollution. You're losing hearing, going deaf many times faster than you would if the volume *weren't* turned up all the time.
But of course you don't care. Crank it up, drown out the construction equipment and the busy roads. So what if you can't hear ***** twenty or thirty years down the road and your family has to shout for you to hear them because you're too proud or too ignorant of your disability to get a hearing aid. The world just got quieter and everybody mumbles to themselves, that's all.
To those people still saying "*****" (probably most of you), I'm probably not going to reach you until you're already stone deaf. But I suggest you start learning ASL anyway, so you'll be able to communicate without needing to carry pen and paper everywhere. - inactive, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1We should just all live in trees.....problem solved.
- Nintendesert, on 05/31/2008, -1/+2I really think that as a species, we are close to mastering self-hate completely. We moved passed the original-sin religious self hate to the pseudo-science-making-noise-is-destroying-the-planet self hate.
We're really really close to perfection. - angryredplanet, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1If I'm talking and you're standing near me yelling "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA", it's quite likely that you'll be interrupting my communication. If I need to hear myself to "see" around myself, you will effectively be blinding me. I fail to see what can be gained by doing a scientific study on something that is common sense.
- angryredplanet, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Environmentalists don't have you doing anything. You just like hanging out naked with your buddies all on your own.
