- Alenzia, on 06/17/2008, -2/+11So... we're not supposed to eat ANY fish? Because that's pretty much what they are advertising.
- asskicker32, on 06/17/2008, -2/+10Its greenpeace, what did you expect?
- inactive, on 06/17/2008, -1/+8The spoilage of seafood in America equals that of the entire markets of Asia and Europe.
- chr153at0n, on 06/17/2008, -1/+7yeah, i am really suprised that basically all the grocery stores failed, even whole foods who scored the highest only got a 4 out of 10. i guess its something the industry was never really forced to think about before. well know they better start ;)
- iamconanobrien, on 06/17/2008, -1/+7Propaganda machine. Fail.
- greytfriend, on 06/17/2008, -2/+8I'm very surprised to find Trader Joe's so low on the list.
- coheedcollapse, on 06/17/2008, -0/+5A lot of companies like to put out that ultra-green vibe and not actually follow it. Personally, I'm more surprised about Wal-Mart being so high on the list.
- inactive, on 06/17/2008, -0/+5Of those on the list, Whole Foods is among the most expensive. I guess to be one of the "best" in seafood sustainability, it costs your customers.
- davidhallstrom, on 06/17/2008, -0/+4We buy our fish from a local seafood market that sells nothing but fresh seafood.
- InnerBlueAbyss, on 06/17/2008, -0/+4If the soda is under a buck, im there. Period.
- shutaro, on 06/17/2008, -0/+3Last time I was there their seafood looked incredibly green.
- zeitgueist, on 06/17/2008, -1/+4Expected Wegman's higher.
- jerbaker, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2Even if one assumes your accusation is true, what's the nexus between an organization's terrorist status and the truth or falsehood of their message?
- partyoverhaul, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2i work at a seafood restaurant and marketplace in western mass, my boss drives to boston every monday to get fresh haddock, whole clams, what have you, but being a small buisness our prices cant compete with these supermarkets, people give us such ***** for the prices like its our fault. you get quality for your money, its just too bad most got jack ***** for money
- asskicker32, on 06/17/2008, -0/+2I think the point here is that many of the supermarkets source their seafood from overseas, where the laws and methods are not the same as they are here in the US. Safeway gets most of its shellfish from Asian nations because its cheaper than crabs and shrimp grown locally. I wonder what a Fish Market would get... They should have something on here for a local fish market to set a barometer for their scores.
- funktimus, on 06/18/2008, -0/+2I learned in a class that buying whole organic foods from Walmart is no different than buying from Trader Joes or Whole Foods. As far as ethics go, there isn't much of a point in shopping at the latter two. They both commodify out of season food; they still waste packaging (I won't even buy produce at Trader Joes cause 6 kiwis for some reason need their own styrofoam container with plastic wrap); the money doesn't stay in the community (at least with Whole Foods); and Whole Foods costs an arm and a leg.
- BelatedHero, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1So did I. Such an amazing store, I wish we had one where I live.
- Checkerd, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1Vertically
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1they do not represent themselves as what they are. because they misrepresent themselves they are also likeyl to misrepresent facts to further their cause. greenpeace is *****.
- jerbaker, on 06/18/2008, -0/+1I expected the audience was somewhat literate. Guess not. Can someone please point me to the part where they are "advertising" that we're not supposed to eat any fish? I'm having trouble locating that. Maybe it's one of those lies that right-wing nuts like to make up about people and groups they disagree with. It's much easier to attack imaginary delusions than reality.
- Michiko280, on 06/19/2008, -0/+1I'm dissapointed that my expectations don't fit with the reality. . . I need to stop holding expectations and assume the worst.
- Thura, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0It's a pity that all the fish that I like to eat are red, but I stopped eating them anyway. Their existence is much more important!
