High fuel costs have more homeowners eying geothermal heat

seattletimes.nwsource.com — Geothermal technology uses the relatively constant temperature underground to heat and cool buildings. In the Puget Sound region, the temperature 6 feet underground is a constant 49.5 degrees Fahrenheit year round; homes, schools and now the Seattle zoo are reaping the benefit.

  • illegalseagull, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1I've heard about geothermal heating for a long time, and I think it's a wonderful idea. The only problem is that it's expensive and hard to find people who have been trained and are able to dig and install it. Hopefully, with this green craze hitting everybody, our attentions will turn to making geothermal in vogue instead of getting the Gap to make another green bracelet or Whole Foods to pop up in fifteen new locations.
