- Miff, on 05/09/2008, -0/+49I instantly tried to imagine a Grolar bear and a Liger fighting.
- WordsnCollision, on 05/09/2008, -0/+39I prefer "Pizzly"...

Americas #1 threat just got an upgrade - toxicityj, on 05/09/2008, -2/+23Colbert is NOT going to like this...
- jerryterhorst, on 05/09/2008, -3/+23i for one welc... ***** it.
- Jogga, on 05/09/2008, -0/+17I hearby declare the Grolar Bear an AWESOME species.
Therefore, we should exercise our right to arm these bears. - ispellkonfusion, on 05/09/2008, -0/+14Hey bear *****, do you need assistance?
- Memesink, on 05/09/2008, -4/+18I hereby declare the Grolar Bear to be an endangered species, and therefor we must protect their habitat to assure their survival (start chopping up the ice, boys).
- edebolt, on 05/09/2008, -0/+12If I was a bear I would want to have sex with other breeds once in a while. Just for variety sake.
- mlvassallo, on 05/09/2008, -0/+12Wow! A Grizzly Bear mount with FROST RESISTANCE!
- RubineBoy, on 05/09/2008, -0/+11I instantly tried to imagine a Grolar bear and a Liger mating.
- jayscot, on 05/09/2008, -3/+13It's not science at all, but "scientific consensus". Some in the scientific community agree on a theory with no real proof by the scientific method.
- dianebl, on 05/09/2008, -0/+9Actually, biologists have figured for a while now that polar bears began as a sub-species of grizzlies. The diverged recently enough that they are genetically similar enough to make fertile offspring.
- drgirlfriend, on 05/09/2008, -0/+8It's coming right for us!
- Navicerts, on 05/09/2008, -2/+10I'm a human and i kinda want to have sex with a bear. Just for variety sake.
- radiantstorm, on 05/09/2008, -3/+11Man bear pig. Anyway, it's the sun that's getting warmer. Google it.
BTW, Polar bear fur is translucent. It picks up the color of its surroundings. We're going to start coming face-to-face with predator-style ninja grizzlies in the woods. - naner, on 05/09/2008, -0/+7It's coming right for us! *BAM*
- mentallyinhell, on 05/09/2008, -1/+7I wish the article would have mentioned more about the species itself. It just seemed to focused on the climate issues.
- Heeeb, on 05/09/2008, -1/+7Achievement unlocked: Interracial Bear Love
- Navicerts, on 05/09/2008, -1/+7Cooler than what, when? What the hell are you talking about?
- Duositex, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Melting the north polar ice cap will no raise sea levels. The ice displaces more water than it contains. Hence, when it melts, sea level would not rise. Try it yourself at home. Fill a glass with ice cubes and water and let the ice melt. Does the glass suddenly overflow? Absolutely not. Sea water is more dense than sea ice, and when you melt it it takes up LESS volume.
- gak001, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Thank you, Bill Nye the science guy.
- fulibs, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5HAHA, sucker!
- dafragsta, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5That would be like the most awesome thing ever. The awesomeness would make you explode if you actually saw that in person.
- cygnus2112, on 05/09/2008, -1/+6Weird thing about adaption and survival.
- OverkillTASF, on 05/09/2008, -2/+7I wish we'd get a lizard / polar bear. A LOLar Bear.
- Wormfather, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4MMMmmmmmm Granola bear.
- ChaosProfessor, on 05/09/2008, -4/+8RAWR!
- BenderFlexo, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4Colbert has a new #1 for the Threatdown!
- Ursapater, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4Yes, the cooler temperatures are causing the reduction of the polar ice pack. Are you listening to yourself?
- dazparkour, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4Mangrolarbearpig doesn't quite have a ring to it.
- JorgeGT, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4You could try with caucasia, asiatic, black women... there's a lot of variety outside the basement!
- Ursapater, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3So you were lied to. It certainly doesn't justify the nasty comments. You were trying to do the right thing. That's what counts in my book.
- thejadedmonkey, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4I think the bigger story is the guy saying that ALL of the ice might melt away THIS summer.
And I agree, either make it about the climate or about the Grollar Bears, but not both. - gak001, on 05/09/2008, -2/+5Did anyone else see this and think - oh god, we're all *****?
- bonjourmr, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4"Dr Divoky has witnessed the onset of climate change first hand..."
He watched them mate? - Ursapater, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3That's a total generalization. More than a few people are interested in studying and preserving, not killing. Unfortunately, it seems the ones who have the cash to readily make expeditions also like to shoot things. (probably due to penis envy; those animals are better equipped than they are)
- inactive, on 05/09/2008, -2/+5Why do humans always kill what is unknown to them?
- ParanoydAndroid, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3The article isn't super clear, but I interpret the statement: “Essentially that could mean that it would save the polar bear genes in the grizzly population.”
to mean that if the polar were to go extinct, their genes would be carried on by the pozzly hybrids. That would naturally imply that these hybrids could reproduce. - Abram730, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Well at least it's not the humanzee yet.
mmmm monkey love.

"A LEADING scientist has warned a new species of "humanzee," created from breeding apes with humans, could become a reality unless the government acts to stop scientists experimenting."
Didn't they make a movie about that? - fuhcough, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3I love the caption... "Shot grolar bear ... DNA tests confirmed it was a polar grizzly hybrid".
- PolarBearCa, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3These bears have occurred occasionally for many years. There is even a description of something like it that was sighted in the 1860s.
Yes - the 1860s - you know, when the temperature on all those charts is really "low" compared to now?
Global Warming has nothing to do with it. It's all about horny bears going out to get some strange now and then. - monoa, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4Hmm... who should we believe - some random, shouting Digger with his personal, ill-informed rant or the evidence presented by scientists who actually study these animals?
Tough decision - if you're ***** stupid.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_bear#Conservati ... - dazparkour, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3That is a dog.
- ellabee, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3For a second I thought this was an Onion article.
- TDot1980, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Uhh... water expands when it freezes. This is why we have antifreeze in engines. Without it, the water in your engine block would freeze over night, expanding and cracking your block.
- yetAnotherCroc, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3you are kidding right??? You honestly didn't catch his joke?
- n3xu5, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2David Grohl may get a new nick name out of this.
