- firebat9er, on 06/06/2009, -0/+8lighting your home and business with LEDs will be financially viable eventually, just give it some time. as with most all cutting edge technologies it just needs some time.
- GaltShrugged, on 06/06/2009, -2/+7Oil is a green technology. It's made from plants.
- Kstha1, on 06/07/2009, -0/+2he said "led" lighting lol..L.E.Ds have been around forever...
- hiPpymIck, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2true

- but when you burn them they produce a lot of greenhouse gases and other stuff thats not very planet friendly - SoCalDissident, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2And Soylent Green is made from people.

- hiPpymIck, on 06/06/2009, -1/+2LEDs arent yet a full replacement for direct lighting - just background
- cheapdaddy, on 06/08/2009, -0/+1virtual toilet paper?
- lostinseganet, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Which oil some comes from dinos
- EliCompton, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Um dude, 'greenhouse' gases.
- satcomer, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1No mention of the new cheap solar technology just coming out of the lab, printing solar cells on foil paper. Take a look at Nansolar:http://www.nanosolar.com/ .
- rif42, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1Actually OLED lighting is the cutting edge.

Since last month you can buy a test kit from Philips Lighting (ca. 200 EUR). However it will likely be 2015 before OLED becomes a practical solution that you can buy in a lamp shop.
For now the new light market is LED. - MooseOfReason, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Not very planet-friendly?
Neither is a giant ***** laser!

- accn112, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1No awesome CGI shots of the ideas? Buried.
- xivera, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1You should let us know that this is a video.
- poitsplace, on 06/07/2009, -0/+0It's really pathetic that everyone's looking for the most advanced solutions possible when something like a solar-thermal heating system for homes in its simpler form is essentially free. It costs just as much to cover your roof with greenhouse fiberglass and install a separate fan on a thermostat to just cycle the air from one end of the house to another...as it does to make a normal, shingled roof. Maybe we should look into using the things that are cheap and readily available first and THEN look at the crazy expensive, high tech stuff.
- RetepNamenots, on 06/06/2009, -4/+1Green technologies don't really matter if they're not affordable; and there's no mention of that.
Unfortunately if there is a more polluting but cheaper option available, people will take that; especially nowadays.
