- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -2/+21mastersquirrel, I think you misspelled the word "you" >.>

- jboitnott, on 03/25/2009, -2/+18Austin, Texas is doing its state tremendously proud. Was there for SXSW and had an awesome time.
- serif69, on 03/25/2009, -1/+16You guys need to conserve more. Look at all the "S"s and "I"s you're wasting!
- rheemglas, on 03/25/2009, -0/+15Amen, the green thing in the world is ***** greenery, AKA trees, grassy plains, etc. This articles definition of green is how many retarded yuppies buy sustainable soy lattes at starbucks instead of the regular *****.
- ousthouse, on 03/25/2009, -0/+14According to these people, more pavement = greener.
That's why Alabama, which consists of trees and rednecks, get's last place... we don't have any LEED certified skyscrapers (because we don't have any skyscrapers). - Harabeck, on 03/25/2009, -0/+13http://rorr.im/digg.com/environment/green_america_ ...

I Got Children All Over Town. - duffmanhb, on 03/25/2009, -1/+12Can we get a reup? Digg effect killed it
- Gr00ver, on 03/25/2009, -0/+10The server didn't succumb to the Digg effect.. they just shut down the server for a bit to conserve energy. How green of them!
- mastersquirrel3, on 03/25/2009, -3/+13***** yeah New Jersey!
- diggface5000, on 03/25/2009, -0/+10Yay we're so green here in seattle that we've added 50 miles of bike lanes. Unfortunately, we're also so green we don't salt our icy roads (could wash off into the salt water puget sound and make the fish cranky) so instead we dump tons (the unit of measurement, not the adjective) of sand on the road. Then we don't clean it up after the snow clears. Bike lanes covered in sand... use your imagination.
- LonesomeFighter, on 03/25/2009, -1/+11the chart could use more to it. the whole "less green" "more green" chart, obviously states won't be equal so someone will look bad. the chart should be based off of which states are actually doing good tings and who's doing bad things.
- wkeown, on 03/25/2009, -0/+9Suck it cali. Not the greenest.
- oboshoe, on 03/25/2009, -3/+12Disagree with the map.
Most all cities are completely unsustainable as well as heavy urban areas.
block off the highways leading in/out and most everyone would stave to death within 4 weeks. - ousthouse, on 03/25/2009, -0/+9You do well on this list by having more LEED certified buildings. The larger a building is, the more likely it will be required to be LEED certified.
Alabama does poorly on this chart because we don't have many buildings period. Therefore, we're less "green" because we have more trees than we do concrete. - emkaysmith, on 03/25/2009, -0/+9Poorly designed map. I looked at Louisiana (dark green) and thought "That can't be right." Then I saw that darker green = "less green" and lighter green = "more green."
- jmritchie, on 11/10/2009, -3/+12You're a fuzzy buzzword
- Jakeman21co, on 03/25/2009, -0/+8Go yell at china or India, easily polluting more than America.
oh, and go ***** yourself. - katorga, on 03/25/2009, -0/+8Bogus. Many of the states mentioned as "more green" are actually the PROBLEM. All of the major urban areas consume so many resources that they drive unsustainable practices everywhere else just to keep them going.
- toekneebullard, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7You don't know how to use the reply button.
- pudnuck, on 03/25/2009, -1/+8My state blows(Mississippi)
- spartan777, on 03/25/2009, -4/+10Austin is a load of satan worshippers and communists in the middle of gods country, begone you devil!
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6Irony: Using an American invention that in some ways contributes to the very problem you're condemning to express your opinion.
Not going to tell you how to think but if you truly believe what you're saying then you better move out to the wilderness and live a life COMPLETELY off the grid. With the world economy working how it does, if you consume any goods (for example the computer you bought that most likely runs Windows) then you're contributing to the "pigs".
Let us know how that goes! Oh wait you won't be able to... - diggface5000, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6This is not the time or place for logic!
- Pilot85, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6I lived in Seattle my whole life up to about 5 years ago, when I moved to ND. Talk about your polar opposites. I have come to realize that Seattle gets so little ice and snow comparatively, that no one has bothered to figure out how to dispose of it properly. We just got nearly a foot of snow here on top of freezing rain yesterday and the main roads were all clear by the time I got up to go to work (7:00 am). Of course, it's also flooding here, so thats' awesome. Send help please.
- JoeB4ever, on 03/25/2009, -1/+6Go Michigan and its 10 cent deposit. Getting the bums alcohol and drugs for over 30 years.
- 360glitch, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Hmm as a Mississippi resident myself I believe you may be on to something.
- johnn11238, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Jersey?????
- wigren, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4mirror below:
- bobburn1, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4lol, map is incredibly biased. Many of the rural states are considered "less green" and less "sustainable" even though they are the ones producing food for the nation and the event of a catastrophe, they would be best suited to survive.
- wakeupsticky, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Dugg up; I laughed when I read "make the fish cranky."
- Kabloink, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Apparently the server was using solar power on a cloudy day with no battery reserves.
- korvan504521, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Washington should receive more points for having much of its power based on hydroelectric dams, which are one of the best and most efficient non-polluting energy sources. They've also turned the snake and columbia into a massive highway for water traffic, saving countless gallons of fuel that would have been burned into pollution by transport trucks or trains.
- TehSnappy, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3Why are the "greener" states less green on the map? Coloring Fail.
- flashingcurser, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3This includes Oregon too. Don't poo poo trains, they're very efficient.
- 15thPD, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3I don't see what you did there.
- CookieOfFortune, on 03/25/2009, -1/+4This is why I tell people Austin isn't really part of Texas.
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Hey, neighbor! (LA)
- marm0lade, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3No it doesn't you moron. What it correlates with is that people living near coastal areas and the great lakes have better environmental sustainability than those living inland. In other words, common sense.
- Harabeck, on 03/25/2009, -2/+5Hah, for once my state isn't second to last. We here in Arkansas always joke about loving Mississippi, because they're the only worse than us when you rank the states...
- Phearce, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3Not to mention, using the color "green" to represent poor performers, and "green" for good performers could use some work.
- koyaani, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3I bet we're not so bad, really. Maybe less of our energy consumption comes from renewable sources, but our overall usage is probably much less than most other states.
Also, we could probably live off our own agriculture if we had to, but most of the other states import (using non-renewable fuel) their food supplies.
Mississippi is one of the greenest (literally) states I've been to. Trees everywhere. Lots of agriculture. We're probably pretty good at sucking up carbon dioxide. We've got some of the cleanest air in the country as well.
There's always more to the story than some picture with shades of colors on it. - thisissami, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2why did you put the mirror in 2 different posts? i don't get what the point of that was...
- rtcrooks, on 03/25/2009, -1/+3You do it.
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2I looked at Maryland (light green) and was disappointed at first because I thought we were one of the worst. Whew.
- brandita, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Maybe people will want to move there now.....Just kidding!
- hiPpymIck, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2i not sure - green has been very fashionable in UK for at least 10 yrs
and whilst theres an awful lot of feelgood stories
their progress on actual climate targets aint that great
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/mar/23/ ...
in other words
US should prepare itself for unbelievably huge amounts of Greenwash
from big business and as youd expect but
also unexpectedly from "green" businesses promoting themselves
and government congratulating themselves -
