- ElWizardo, on 02/28/2008, -13/+1Don't you mean Sheep... Baa Baa Baa!
- bullcutter, on 02/27/2008, -1/+17cmon you guys, you are being so un-p.c.
don't you know its called "climate change" now? Global warming can really mean global cooling, global nothing and/or global everything under the global sun.
anything that happens will be our fault anyway because.... WE... DIDN'T.... LISTEN!!!
/sorry, couldn't help myself- ElWizardo, on 02/28/2008, -13/+1No meteorologist worth their salt would make a stupid claim that 12 months of "research" has wiped out 100 year worth. We already know we go through short dip and then climb right back up.
By the way your "expert" is a radio weatherman for a conservative talk AM station. Anthony Watts is Chief Meteorologist and ONLY Meteorologist for KPAY-AM radio. A small facility in Chico (Podunk) CA. I've been there. It's a college town known for it's party atmosphere... and apparently the only atmospheric studies going on.

- thomoore, on 02/27/2008, -2/+30http://www.scragged.com/articles/the-hot-air-of-cl ... explains that scientists tried getting us worked up about the coming ice age, but that didn't sell. They changed to talking about global warming because it got them research money. Now they’re switching back to the coming ice age. Bureaucrats want a bigger department and more clout. Politicians want a crisis - any crisis - so they can ride to power with a "solution." It's a scam, pure and simple, but people in Europe are beginning to catch on, see this: http://www.scragged.com/articles/a-light-dawns-in- ...
- Iconoclast25, on 02/27/2008, -0/+36This site has additional commentary / information but otherwise the verbiage is identical:

Regardless of which first released this, the fact remains the justification for owl's carbon credits was being invalidated even as the sheep in Stockholm were lining up to bleat his praises. Oh well, they gave a "peace" prize to the terrorist arafat, too. - yonoz, on 02/27/2008, -0/+27This is why I'm agnostic to the whole climate change thing. Mankind's efforts are better spent elsewhere. Environmentally, I reckon we should be concentrating on reducing pollution that harms animal life first. Good to see alternative energy sources get the spotlight though, it seems money made off selling petroleum is spent rather carelessly.
- badqat, on 02/27/2008, -0/+18You mean bleating about how we're all doomed and charging "carbon credit" taxes isn't a worthwhile effort? Shucks...what will algore do?
- Iconoclast25, on 02/27/2008, -0/+18Travel around in his SUV caravans and private jet counting the millions he bilked from the suckers on this scam, most likely.
- DerangedPenguin, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1Then this bit of bad news about alternative power generation (conversion actually) http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSN2 ...
Seems a lack of wind has created a power crisis in Texas. Good example of why "you don't put all your eggs in one basket." Sorry about the cliche folks. It is "The Big Oil" that are the second biggest investors in alternative energy conversion sources behind the federal government, which really only spends the big bucks on energy research if it has an alternative payoff like say weapons development. Oil companies realize that eventually the wells will run dry (at least in the current understanding of how crude oil is produced in nature, seems wells that were dry in Southern California have filled back up?) Big Oil has an obligation to investors, like my 80 year old mum, who lives off her investments, to find some other energy conversion sources, to keep the profits flowing and the dividend checks going out.
We have an obligation to make sure our children have a chance to see the wild "untamed" forests and meadows, too fish clean rivers and hunt if they so desire or just shoot an elk with a Nikon... all the bunny kissing, tree hugging *****. Which means, we need to constantly be planing for the future and utilizing our natural resources wisely.- triplethreatoz, on 02/29/2008, -0/+0Bravo on you comment. True. True.
- badqat, on 02/27/2008, -0/+18You mean bleating about how we're all doomed and charging "carbon credit" taxes isn't a worthwhile effort? Shucks...what will algore do?
- topbravo, on 02/27/2008, -0/+31I wish people would take this information to heart, but we all know this will be buried immediately when it hits front page. Its sad that our fellow digg brothers can not use Science to clean up the now perverted "Man Made" global warming as a tool for the Dems to keep power and bring communism to the states. OPEN YOUR EYES...
- badqat, on 02/27/2008, -2/+13I'm not so sure I'd just lay this scam on Democrats. After all, isn't McCain bleating about climate change these days?
- Iconoclast25, on 02/27/2008, -0/+12And other than the label, what makes you say McAmnesty != democrat ? Remember when he was on the verge of becoming an "independent" until jumpin' jim jdffords beat him to the brass ring? Look at his voting record in the Senate - it may have improved as he worked toward the nomination, but as of about two years ago, it was more often with the dims than the Republicans.
- topbravo, on 02/27/2008, -0/+13McCain is Democrat as far as I can see it. I consider myself Fiscal Conservative and Mod on Social issues. Shamnesty is just unforgivable in my mind.
- cyrusfx808, on 02/28/2008, -1/+7not to forget he was in favor of the Dubai ports deal. his excuse was that China was a bigger human rights abuser than Dubai. (???)

- ElWizardo, on 02/27/2008, -21/+1A load of hot air. It didn't explain why there was a global cooling scare in the 70's and what was causing it. If you claim something will discredit another claim it better have information.
- lordmarcus, on 02/27/2008, -3/+11oh ya cause the global warminng religon is just all based on solid, indisputable fact or something right?
- ElWizardo, on 02/27/2008, -10/+5If you have info state your findings. I could say that since I had a dog in the 70's and 80's global cooling went away. My dog saved the world. While he was a kick ass dog, he show very few climate changing traits.
- bullcutter, on 02/27/2008, -1/+10FTA: "All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. "- ElWizardo, on 02/28/2008, -8/+4That is not results. That is a statement about the last 12 months. No meteorologist worth their salt would make a stupid claim that 12 months of "research" has wiped out 100 year worth. We already know we go through short dip and then climb right back up.

"We already know we go through short dip and then climb right back up."
No we don't. You made that up just right now. What does that even mean??? - ElWizardo, on 02/28/2008, -7/+4I said 'Findings". Finding are the results of a search for something.
- ElWizardo, on 02/29/2008, -6/+3"No we don't. You made that up just right now. What does that even mean???"
You see I actually study science so I don't have to make things up... or get dubious experts. The earth goes through temp fluctuations. Minor changes in temperature on a global scale. We know this from soil and ice samples. With soil you can tell by debris, nutrients and minerals. With ice you tell by density and crystal shape and length. Both of these stack in layers acting like a record book.

Technically its both cold air _and_ discrediting information.

- umbriago, on 02/27/2008, -17/+1This article confuses climate with weather. There's a big difference.
- topbravo, on 02/27/2008, -0/+13You have a point, but the Earth goes through cycles and I have been telling everyone that its in a warming period that has been going on since the Ice Ages. It may be leveling off soon to return to the deep freeze phase. Who knows. All I know is that we should take of the Earth due only to the fact that its the right thing to do. But we should never compromise our safety and wellbeing to "man made" global warming. Burning Forest can be a good thing sometimes. Nuclear Power is a VERY GOOD THING for the Earth. But libs want their cake and eat it too.
- SampleX, on 02/27/2008, -1/+9The New World Order will not let us have nuclear power. Nuclear power is cheap, long lasting, and wipes out the dependence of nations upon international corporations and consortiums. Nuclear Power promotes national autonomy and energy security. The EU and the UN will never let it happen, especially not in the third world. They need us in a regressive technological malaise and a disharmonious, chaotic state in order to replace our sovereign governments and identities with New-World totalitarianism and Fabianistic globalism.
- topbravo, on 02/28/2008, -0/+7Well put. You hit the nail right on the head.
+1 digg

- bullcutter, on 02/27/2008, -0/+14Yes, the difference is climate change is infinitely harder to predict. I'm not any more sure of claims that we are headed into an ice age than claims we are headed into global warming, but I do know that anybody who claims to be able to "accurately predict global climates" 5, 10, 20 years from now or more is full of *****.
Gore has been making predictions for 10 years now, even though people really only started counting about 2 years ago, and so far they have ALL BEEN WRONG.
Gore predicted Buenos Aires temperatures to be dramatically increasing due to more south pacific El Nino events, ten years later the ocean is dominated by La Nina events and Buenos Aires records its lowest summer temperature in 90 years:
http://my.telegraph.co.uk/reasonmclucus/november_2 ...
"When Mr. Stephanopoulos confronted Mr. Gore with the fact that the best estimates of rising sea levels are far less dire than he suggests in his movie, Mr. Gore defended his claims by noting that scientists "don't have any models that give them a high level of confidence" one way or the other and went on to claim--in his defense--that scientists "don't know. . . . They just don't know.""

Not to forget how said more people will be killed because of stronger hurricanes of greater frequency, which is of course, complete *****:
http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.com/2008/02/21/no ...
This quote is by an author (Dr. Naomi Oreskes) whose works include those which Al Gore cites when he says AGW has been decided by "consensus":
"The scientific consensus might, of course, be wrong. If the history of science teaches anything, it is humility…."
Wonder if Al ever heard that one...- rightwingattila, on 02/28/2008, -0/+9Has Al Bore ever been right???

- paintpro, on 02/27/2008, -3/+5It is certainly true that global warming has been over-hyped with questionable data, but it would be foolish to think humans and their actions have zero impact on our environment. This just goes to show that we don't really understand the complexity of earth. It is going to take decade before understanding and data to form a clear picture. All of the alarmists can just STFU!
- bullcutter, on 02/27/2008, -0/+12Nobody here is saying humans have zero impact on the environment, but what I've always wondered is if all this alarmism is to get us off of pollutive energy sources, why can't we just do so in the name of reducing pollution and wanting to live healthy?
why do we have to market the problem as some apocalyptic catastrophe that is your fault and will kill every last one of us (Bloomberg actually said just that the other day)? the whole "green" movement seems completely phony and dishonest when it is based on the sentiment of "helping to reduce global warming."

- topbravo, on 02/28/2008, -0/+14Its funny that this has not been front paged with 56... It used to take only 40.
- Iconoclast25, on 02/28/2008, -0/+11. . . ain't it amazing? Of course, if it were something about how great the obobblehead is, how horrible Dubya is, or any of the other left wing mantras, it would have hit the front page within an hour of its submission.
- InRussetShadows, on 02/28/2008, -0/+11It's still not front paged with 65.
- topbravo, on 02/28/2008, -0/+8Well what would happen is that it would immediately be dugg down for being "inaccurate"
LAME

- sheprd69, on 03/07/2008, -0/+191 and counting...
- Slugo, on 02/28/2008, -0/+15WHAT...OK, I'm running back to the store and trading in my air conditioners and getting some portable heaters ....can you guys make up your mind because all these trips to the store is having me leave a big ol' fat carbon footprint.
- rightwingattila, on 02/28/2008, -0/+9No one has a larger carbon footprint or more full of hot air then Al Bore!
- MeanYogurt, on 02/28/2008, -0/+9I'm doing my part to fight global cooling. I made sure my wife got the V8 option with her new SUV.
- topbravo, on 02/28/2008, -0/+1You could be doing more by shoving a broom and breaking your catalytic converters.... oh yeah, u could also cut your O2 sensors too.
Side note:
My old 2000 eclipse got 30 MPG when running with a broken O2 sensor.
When I fixed it went down to 19MPG... Kinda funny.

- BECoole, on 02/28/2008, -0/+2OMG!!! THAT GRAPH! IT'S NOT FLAT!!
WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE EARTH?- DavidHalko, on 02/28/2008, -1/+1It was Atheists back in the 1800's who created the Flat Earth Myth.
- triplethreatoz, on 02/29/2008, -1/+0Now that is just a bunch of crap. Where did you get that bogus info? References please. Not trying to be a jerk, but that is just ludicrous. The freaking monarchy of England and Spain to name a few wholeheartedly believed that.
- BECoole, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4It's a temperature graph. It shows the climate constantly changing. A steady climate would be a flat line.
When you corner the AGW Hysteriacs, first it's Global Warming that's the problem. When you show how that's BS, then they fall back on "Oh, it's really climate change that's the problem."
