    now that i've realised how small an earthquake it was and he wasn't in danger, i can safely say nothing is funnier than a drunk person ***** flipping out during an earthquake.

    Everything is relative, and any earthquake, even one of this relatively small scale, is news in the UK.

    I live in Lincolnshire, and the epicentre was in Hull (not far from here). I was sat in bed and all of a sudden the whole house shook violently for like 5-10 seconds (and my lava lamp almost fell off my wardrobe).We went outside and were assured by a few other neighbours that it wasn't just us. I'm still in shock; first time I've experienced anything like this.

  • garethDE, on 02/27/2008, -3/+33Since a lot of Americans on here are too stupid to understand the significance themselves, I will actually take the time to inform you that we live nowhere near a fault-line, so a 4.7 is actually 1) rare; 2) a big deal to us.

    I know acting like a soldier and claiming that 4.7 is nothing makes you feel like you have a big *****, but our population aren't all fat ***** the size of SUVs and we aren't able to replicate such ground vibrations by simply falling over.

    Get over yourselves.

    I'm sick of Americans thinking they're so bloody better than the British.

    For the record, I'm down on the South-East Coast and didn't feel a thing. But I was speaking to a friend online in Bristol who just randomly said "wtf did your house just shake!?" That was about 1-1:30am.
