- joach, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Outstanding quality, great shoot!
- Discobiscuits, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4I could stare at this for hours if I was high.
- MCA2142, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3When you're comfortable, try upgrading to a full frame camera. I see that you'd used 350D to take these photos. When you're ready, look at the 5D. The 350D just like the 20D will crop away the edges of the picture because the CMOS isn't a full-35mm size.
Tips: If you want a clear picture, you must shoot above f9 or so. In your exif data, it shows that your picture was taken at F/5.6 @ 1/2000 shutter with an ISO-400.
Using a lower ISO setting like 100 will get you crispier images but you have to sacrifice shutter speed. Also, you can still get a clear picture with something around 1/200 shutter speed.
The ISO and the Aperature(F) is crucial because you're using a 300mm lense(at this distance, things get a little grainy).
Also, try to get down to the level of the subject(damsel fly in this case). Crouch down for a better shot.
Hope this helps.
Here is your exif data: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/12325/mirror/exif.jpg - radu79, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3I have one eating a bug:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/garethbeynon/20247308 ... - the2989, on 11/25/2008, -0/+2Who'd want to take a picture of flies doing it when they could just smash them?
- CurtisSimpson, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Beautiful colors!
- KDyneria, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Blue mandragonfly group?
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1So Baja Blast blue IS a color that appears in nature.
- polishdude06, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1So you cant tag the picture with something funny, and preferably vulgar, of course!
- ZeroCubed, on 11/25/2008, -1/+2There are digital cameras that come with macro potions. It can be a little tricky, especially if your subject doesn't have a tendency to stay still (like dragonflies). I have a Nikon digital camera with a macro lens - the camera only costs 160 (though I got it for 120) - well within price range for many people seeking a good camera.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1As do I...Great picture.
- beauley, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1Speaking of images...Check this out!

The Majestic White Peacock - ator1, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Much more refined and classy than the broadfly.
- MCA2142, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Love that second photo!
Keep at it! - pancak3s, on 11/25/2008, -1/+2True... except it's not an animal.
- sgxyay, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1We have a ton of those around the creek in my parents' back yard. They flutter around like butterflies instead of buzz like dragonflies. Pretty rad.
- themastersb, on 11/25/2008, -0/+1Let me get this comment high up here...
There we go. - danquah, on 11/25/2008, -0/+0Nice!, reminds me a bit of a shot I got a couple of years ago in Ghana:

- vietnamerican, on 11/25/2008, -11/+0so like a few months ago, I was on a canoe trip. When I pulled into shores, there were a bunch of dragonflies all coupled up and then having their tails on one another. So I was thinking that they are having a massive orgy, so I went over to the group without disturbing them and pulled out my bug spray, lit up a match and flamethrower that bitch. It was great seeing the dragonflies dropping like flies while burning. Then I laught maniacally, then I was bored. So I went down the river again and then I saw cows. When I saw the cows I was like "***** that *****", and ate my macaroni and cheese while trying to get the butter out. Then I saw a bunch of tires on the bottom of the river, so I told myself to go get it. I argued that I don't want to go get the tires because it was useless, I yelled at myself for being a wussy and then I told myself "if YOU'RE so brave, then why don't YOU go and get the tires". so I was like "***** this ***** I'm going to take a *****. As I was taking a *****, a fish jumped up and kissed my ass, and it felt weird and good. So I pulled out my net to try and catch that fish so I can ***** the ***** out of it. I caught it and I cooked that ***** up and it was good with my jizz as the sauce. Then I decided it was enough so I woke up and beat off.
