Corn Ethanol: The Fuel to Higher Food Prices
chemicallygreen.com — A fifth of the nation ’s corn crop is now used to brew ethanol for motor fuel, and as farmers have planted more corn, they have cut acreage of other crops, particularly soybeans. End result cooking oil shortage and wheat shortages.

- NateDog, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1Some problems seems so obvious from so far away ... yet we don't avoid them. Farmers and the country in general going hog wild for corn-based ethanol seems to be one of those obvious problems that we're all to happy to just keep walking into. Weird.

People live too far away from places of work, and drive SUV's and other gas guzzlers to get there. US should be looking to Europe or asian small car industry to solve problem of overuse... or move closer to work/ catch public transport.
