- EatingPie, on 02/22/2008, -0/+8This is taken NASA's Terra satellite in LEO (I'm working on the code for processing its cloud mask data as I type this!). If you want to parachute, you better bring a space suit equipped with heat shields. That's how good this satellite is!
The explanation of the picture can be found at:

- Drkboarder, on 02/22/2008, -1/+4Ay dios mio...of course people had to mention global warming and Satan. How about we respect nature for it's damn beauty, both destructive and creative (read: Snowball Earth), and go about our business?
- EatingPie, on 02/22/2008, -0/+2Just an FYI.
Volcanic ash actually does the opposite of global warming. Ash in the atmosphere reflects sunlight away, and does not trap re-radiated energy (heat from the earth itself) like carbon does.
So if you're implying Volcanos cause global warming because they produce far more emissions than cars, you're wrong.

- danielce, on 02/22/2008, -3/+4oooooo.... I want to parachute from here, although I might get bored on the way down... Better bring a book.
